  1. Just look for a nice easy mud trail to start with . And always go with more than one truck with a good LONG chain . You won't have to beat your truck trying to get unstuck . Also try to find a descent set of 31x10.50's . A stock camoflauge comanche with 31's is what i learned to mud with .don't be afraid of mud , be afraid of DEEP mud !
  2. Found another one on quadratec made by rock-it parts for 150$
  3. Yea especially when its hard to figure out what it is up close . Yea theres plenty of fluid , that was checked first.
  4. Should i just start with a new pump?
  5. awesome thanks man , the one with the inline filter right?
  6. Yea ive rebuilt differentials before with no problem . I'm lookin for a dana 44 for the front and ford 8.8 for the rear . I'm running 3.54's now with the aw4
  7. Yea ive looked , my buddy looked . i found a few things loose but still no good. No leaks , nothing is bent . i jacked it up and had no tight spots .
  8. :help: I did something to my front end or steering on a ridiculous rock section up mount beacon . While driving i notice like a slight "loss" of power steering or binding in the front end . Yes I still have the dana 30 and expected to break parts with 35's . Budget is tight so i can't just start swappin parts . Maybe blew the power steering pump? Maybe bent the front end? Maybe broke the steering box? IDK GRRR
  9. just found 4.88's on rusty's for $169 a set which is cheaper than i would have expected , but i didnt plan on putting money into the stock front and rear . I think i bent my front end already because now i have some binding spots in my steering and my tires look a little toed out :ack:
  10. You sir are a badass ! Working on your truck in 112 degrees with one leg ! Awesome truck , so many good parts , looks much better without the light bar too
  11. yea definetly want some lower gears , what do you run in that red truck? Still want to do a good tune-up with a couple extra bolt ons to get the best out of it .
  12. can't find a good set-up for cheap , there must be some tubes that are close in shape in size from other jeeps . I can't believe k&n has no kit for an mj or xj
  13. it probably would look cool now with the lift and 35's , but with the little tires and my personal hatred for caps it was an easy sell for 50 bucks on craigslist
  14. Thats my 93 grand cherokee awd 5.2 straight pipe , puttin my new 31's on it next weekend, ill have to throw some pics of that up too.
  15. Yea beefin up the steering box is one of the things i still have to do . I just started a new job , and working 3rd shift has killed my extra time for wrenchin and wheelin. Its been up the mountain , i just need to remember the camera next time.
  16. Sorry bout that guys just threw that up in a hurry . It's an '87 sport truck shortbed with the 4.0 and aw4/np231 . It was the usual geezer truck with a huge cap and little tires . It was a steal for $200 bucks and i kept it from being scrapped. Ran , shifted and stopped perfect without a single dent. First thing was first and bye bye went the cap. Next i tossed some 31"kelly trs's off my grand cherokee on for the time being. Then came the traditional fixing of the hole in the floor. The stock exhaust fell off while driving ,so that saved me from having cut it off. I made a new fully welded , custom exhaust with a stainless thrush muffler and a stainless tip. It looks awesome and sounds almost like a diesel . I then put my sound system in with all new pioneer 6 1/2" and 6"x9" speakers on all corners , an xplod deck and amp. I made a custom box and fit my 12"subs behind the seat. The first comanche i owned was camo so i thought straight o.d. green was the next best thing . It took about 10 cans of green and five cans of flat black. This is where i must have huffed too much olive drab and started to plan my lift. I started in the back with a soa conversion. I made my own springs perches , cut the shock mounts to fit right, put in an extra leaf and clamped it all together with new u bolts. Much to my surprise , I ended up with 9" to 10" of lift. So of course i had to match the front and ordered the biggest springs that rusty's had to offer, the beefed out 9" lift coils. I wanted to long arm this truck but with a small budget thats going to have to wait . I went with rustys adjustable upper and lower extended control arms , track bar , and 3" drop pitman with rough country shocks . I ended up going with 35"x 12.50" bfg KM2's on 15" x 10" extreme steel " d window rims in black . I threw it all together on a hot saturday and everything went together perfectly . It rides solid, straight and smooth. Even though it has 154,000 on the clock , it still has plenty of sack to move the 35's. It still needs a couple things like longer driveshaft yokes and extended sway bar links. I'd also like to make some custom bumpers and find a visor for it. Of course a winch ,lockers and dana 44's with 4.88's are down the road. I will be posting more pictures as soon as i take them . I also must get the "before" pictures off my other computer. Thanks for your attention and compliments, Dan from New York
