Tires Size Questions On My Mj
Guanaco.13 replied to Guanaco.13's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Also what size 15 inch rims should i buy 15x10 or 15x8 and what is backspacing? the rims I was looking at was the rough country RCX Black Steel rims. the 15x8 cost $45.95 and the 15x10 cost $59.95 -
My Mj has a 4.5" rough country lift kit and I had my heart set on getting 32x11.5r15 and I read someone's form about their Mj havin 33x12.5r15 on there truck with 4.5" lift. so my question is can I fit 33's on my truck without rubbing or without havin to cut the fenders. I also want to know if it will look better with 32's or 33's with a 4.5" lift

Tires And Gears ??????
Guanaco.13 replied to Guanaco.13's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It is an auto trans, on road 70 percent of the time but when the build is complete I want to have a good 50/50 on road/off road rig (a weekend warrior). And yes good on highway's I travel almost 80% on highways, interstates (70 mph) and 55mph roads. so I still need power but also need something thats not going to blown off road neither. I also don't want it to drink fuel like crazy. I want 32's more because I don't want the truck to look like all tires neither or will 33's still look like there is some lift and not just all tire if you know what i mean???? -
I have a 4.5" suspension lift RC and I want to know the biggest tires size i can fit with out rubbing and want gear do i need to push them my mj has 3.55 now???? I was thinking about 32 X 11.5 r15 on a 10.5 r15 rim or can i fit 33's
-
my mj has a new 4.5 RC suspension lift and a new adjustable track bar and I replaced the bearing and races last weak and last night i was driving on the interstate home and hit a small bump and my the front end was shaking from side to side crazy then i jerked the steering wheel and it strengthened up and drove it home but it did it two more time before i got home. I jacked the front end up and moved the tire and the bearing have no play but when I moved it side to side the tie rod and the steer rod where moving and so was the arm on the steering box and the steering wheel in the truck. what could be the problem the tie rod ends or the steering rod ends or is the steering box is shot please help I'm clue less :???: :dunno: :help:

why is my comanche so slow
Guanaco.13 replied to Guanaco.13's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Absolutely. Check your speedo with a GPS. Probably a good idea to keep from getting tickets, too, since you're more than likely going faster than indicated due to the tire size. I have lifted it 4.5 but haven't put bigger tire on it yet and if i was to put the 32x11.5 r15's all i need to do is change the speedo gear and bigger gears in the rear to make it now drink fuel right ???? -
Oh ok thank you

why is my comanche so slow
Guanaco.13 replied to Guanaco.13's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
:agree: Yeah i got you the only difference I have found is 4.0 Litre 173 hp (129 kW) @ 4500 rpm 220 lb·ft (300 N·m) @ 2500 rpm 1987 177 hp (132 kW) @ 4500 rpm 224 lb·ft (304 N·m) @ 2500 rpm 1988−1990 190 hp (142 kW) @ 4750 rpm 225 lb·ft (305 N·m) @ 2400 rpm 1991−1996 -
why is my comanche so slow
Guanaco.13 replied to Guanaco.13's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The speed limit here is 70 on the freeway but i tend to have a heavy foot and drive 75-80 but in my mj I just stay at 70-75 75 at the most. and I know the mj is not designed to going 80 down the freeway but if the xj's speedo say 140 you would assume that it could easily go 100 no problem and so it would be safe to cruise at 80. I am just wonder what would make my truck capable of those speeds. -
Is a 1998 jeep xj 4.0 4wd a good donor will the auto trans, t case, two drive shafts and front axles work on my 1989 4.0L 2wd auto trans

why is my comanche so slow
Guanaco.13 replied to Guanaco.13's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I mean it hasnt got slower or nothing I just don't feel comfortable driving a truck thats speedometer only goes to 85 and 80mph, and i want to know what is the difference in the newer 4.0l's and mine and how to get mine to the new 4.0l top speed. -
I have a 1989 4.0l 2wd and it is slow as dog $#!& the speedometer only goes up to 85 mph. so what is the big difference in that motor or new 4.0l's how come they top out higher. what can i do to go faster, i mean come on I like to cruise on the highway at 80 mph. that is a big motor to be so slow. :fs1:
