  1. I dropped the plug down behind the dash it then exits the bottom of the dash I then routed it into the XJ center console I have installed and so it exits from the ebrake slot; perfect location to hold my Sansa. Optionally you can install a jack on the dash or anywhere so that you can just plug in a wire like the OEMs do it.
  2. Oh, a note about attaching the leads to the pins. I suggest you not solder them, I found out the hard way that the heat can very well unsolder them from the PC board. What I ended up doing is running the wires via the center located hole in the back of the radio, then tieing a knot so that they don't get pulled out, then I wound the wires on the pins tightly.
  3. Its all back together, nothing to see now other than a plug wire.
  4. After several hours of messing around with the factory setup, I figured it out and its so easy its ridiculous. All the commercial solutions out there to play an iPod or other mp3 player in an older radio leave much to be desired. The best way is to plug it in directly via an input, but the old radios don't have them, and digging around in the factory radio is not easy, everything is very heavy duty and mostly soldered together....a good thing but not for someone trying to do mods/hacks. Well fortunately, if you open up the top of the factory radio, on the left by the volume control, you will see 2 pins standing vertically. All you need to do is attach the left and right positive leads from a wire leading either to a jack or plug (one from an old head phone will do), and then attach both the negatives to ground. The beauty of it is that the system automatically attenuates the radio or the tape player whenever it detects a signal from the mp3 player! The sound is great but you can just slightly hear some sound leak from the tuner or a tape. You can get rid of that by either disconnecting the head from the tape deck, put a switch in between the tape head and its wires, or run a blank tape. You can also just tune the radio to a very quiet station....which is what I did, I don't hear anything other than the mp3 player even at max volume, the sound is loud and clear.
  5. Cool....such a shame that that Jeep ended up there. One of the cleanest frames I ever saw on these...they won't sell me the whole Jeep, only piece by piece. My MJ looks like it was stored in the ocean....LOL.
  6. I wanted to buy the whole Jeep...maybe even fix the roof, or was hoping someone here would...but they won't sell me the whole thing only piece by piece. So this week I am going back to get the rest of the tranny the whole bed and gate...mine is completely rotted out...I should leave my Jeep there and take that one...LOL. Shame that Jeep was tossed out. It hasnt been messed up yet has it? Hate when people ruin the whole damn car to get one small piece.
  7. Here it is:
  8. There is also an 87 MJ with 84k miles. Has a bedliner so the bed is 100% new. Some idiots took out the engine for the tranny and left it on the ground. Still very save-able, better shape than mine!.
  9. 90 2wd bed looks to have never been used. 5 speed. Custom white pearl paint with graphics. Roof has a section that wa cut out that includes the rear window. Then a plexi cover can be put on or taken off, cover is there but is broken, seems to have had some system to latch it to the bed when the driver wanted open air...they did not touch or mess up the door frame or door opening, all professionally done very clean. 134k miles. Short bed. Looks to have stainless headers, dyno max muffler rancho adustable shocks, custom alloys. What I think happed is that this thing was a show truck then was parked outside and forgotten. Someone probably inherited it tried to sell it and had no bites; there is tape on the window from a for sale sign. So then they junked it. Still mostly intact, ultra-clean underside body looks great. I worked on getting the transmission nose, other than that and the cat it's all there. Seems the once immaculate rust free rear bumper got damaged in the yard as did the fuel tank. This jeep should not be here. If I go back and no one here has saved it I am going to remove the bed and the tranny. Will post pics when I get home, on cell now. If you go and take it please save me the tranny nose which is already nearly off ran out of time. There is also an XJ with tubular bent lower arms and a lift, as well as one with a warn black diamond lift.
  10. At harrys hazelton pa super clean. no rust
  11. Jeep is in a yard wanted to know so I could figure out if I should pick it up or not....will take pics when I go there again.
  12. Thanks guys, yes its a 4.0L. The rear is low pinion and has those nubs cast in at the pinion end.
  13. It appears to have a Corporate 8.25 rear. Also might this be limited slip? TIA
  14. BTW did y'all know that the world record breaking Comanche was recently sold for a little over $8k?
  15. what are the diameters of these sway bars?
  16. How much drop do you want? If you use the rear coils out of a ZJ it should be good for about 2" of drop... I think. Can someone verify this? Dunno yet, as low as I can go without hitting the pan and still having some room for suspension travel on a road course.
  17. Nonononononono. No. Get different coils. How come? Cutting the coils down will increase the stiffness and give me the ride height I need and its free! For my lowered 86 XJ I had custom coils wound for me, but money was no object back then for that project.
  18. Thanks....I am cutting the coils down, that part is easy :D
  19. Looking to drop it as low as possible while keeping the front level or at a slight rake. I am removing the 4x4 system and swapping out the Dana 30, so I will be bringing it all down as low as I can, going to run 15" rims and low profile tires. Didnt know that about the Fords coming with fiberglass leafs.....that might be the way to go!
  20. Prepping a Comanche for on-road competition. Archer brothers used custom made fiberglass rear mono-leafs made by Flex-Form....but I am trying to do this on the cheap. I was wondering if anyone knows what other vehicles use similar dimension rear leafs? Ideally what I would really like to do is try and fit some Chevy Astra / GMC Safari fiberglass rear leafs back there, for the weight savings and lowering; they are often discarded for steel units. I don't want to go with lowering blocks for obvious reasons. Thanks! __________________
  21. Cab corners.....where are they?
  22. I am making a 4x4 Comanche into a 2wd Jeep. I need all the components to make the swap.
