  1. As I promised some more pics. Things I have gotten done lately, Well I got some paint between the bed and cab so I could put the bed back on. I made a bed lift to go on my picker so I could put the bed back on by myself ( can't seem to find any good help) it worked out pretty well. I took out the crappy D35 and in went the SOAed 8.8, I haven't weld the perches on yet. It is a little taller than I would like it to be. Oh almost forgot I sprayed the frame with some equipement black paint, tuff stuff. Thats its for now
  2. Well I have gotten alot done lately but haven't taken any pics sorry. I will get some updated shots soon. Things done- I modded the front core support to make the 4.0L rad. fit it wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be. Started the bucket seat mod(driver sides done) The engine is completely together and I fired it up for the first time tonight. It has an issue and won't start with the key, so I ran a jumper wire to the starter and started it that way, I will figure it out later. I still need to paint between the bed and cab so I can put the bed back on and remount the fuel tank. I also need new fuel lines, where would I be able to pic some up at ???? Thats it for now
  3. I just did the drivers side seat for my manche( haven't got to the pass. side yet) The bucket sits perfect with bench seat brackets swapped over. I had heard they sat high and off center but everthing looks good to me.
  4. Why will the 2.8 rad. not work? not big enough! I have the 4.0L rad. but the only way I can see to make the 4.0L would be to cut out all the inner fender (front sections) and replace them with the ones from the donor truck. Which looks like alot of work, more work than making the 2.8 rad. work.
  5. So I sort of ran into a small snag, The whole front cross member on the 86' is todally different than the 94'. So the radiator from the 94' will not bolt in with out extensive modifications. My question is will the the rad. from the 2.8 cool the 4.0 or should I look into getting one made. I would rather not as I am trying to keep over all cost as low as possible. Also can I move the mech. fan over to the water pump pully like V8's and such or should I start looking for an electric fan to do the cooling. I also don't need the gas tank as mine is in really good shape, thanks though.
  6. Got a little more done, progress has slowed I had hoped to have had it running by tonight but not yet so.
  7. It is going pretty good so far. The fire wall was a little different nothing a rubber mallet couldn't fix. The engine trans is in, the m/m swapped right over no mods needed, the trans x-member is about 6" forward than where it is needed to be at so a little fabbing is needed there, but all in all it is going really good. I got the dash and most of the wiring swapped over. Its going slowly but going. The bed was a pain but worth it I need to get some paint on the rear frame rails as they are starting to rust a little. You have to drop the tank cause its hooked to the bed and the frame. The bed is going back on just as soon as I can paint between it and the cab. I will try to get some pics up soon, I've been working on it after work solo so no real time to snap pics.
  8. Look at pic above see the the two holes in the hinges opposite bolts, with the door shut and fenders off thats how I broke mine loose. Then open door unscrew rest of the way. Not sure if it the correct way but it worked for me. (I already had my fenders off too that helped a little) I will be replacing the factory bolts with reg. Hex heads.
  9. Its a auto 2wd trans. Like I said before not going 4wd yet unless someone has a smokin deal on a auto trans and transfercase.
  10. Its a long bed truck forgot to put that in there. How long is the one one you have?
  11. As some of you know I am in the middle of doing a 4.0L swap into my MJ. For sake of ease for now it will be 2wd(for now) How long are your 2wd drive shafts?
  12. This is it, 86' 4wd 2.8L. It had a blown motor when I bought it so I'm doing a 94' 4.0L ho swap as we speak. This is the only pic I have right now already disassembled.
  13. Just signed up also. here's is the link http://www.myjeepspace.com/minydigger
  14. I haven't decited yet on the shifter, I am swaping the dash too so I will most likely swap the colum over also. What ever is the easiest I guess.
  15. The XJ that the motor is coming out of was 4wd and somebody swaped in a 2wd tranny. So I want to put a 4wd tranny back behind it. The truck is setup for an auto.
  16. I am getting ready to swap in a 94' 4.0Lho motor into my 86' manche and the motor I have has a 2wd auto tranny behind, my ?, is the 2wd trans the same as a 4wd or do I need a whole new trans. What trans is it aw4?
  17. My 94 ZJ limited has a low pinion w/ cv axles.
  18. Thats the plan, to use the wiring and everingthing from the donor XJ.
  19. Is the new front clip a bolt on deal or ? I want to swap one over on mine also. Did you use 97 up hood and fenders or just the front facia?
  20. I will keep everybody posted on how the swap goes.
  21. Thanks for the replys guys. For me the 2.8 to 3.4 is not an option as I would have to get a 3.4 and I already have a 4.0. So if I do this swap it will be to the 4.0. What differances is there to the truck it self? I have all the wiring the dash if needed, m/m, transmission, radiator. etc., etc. Jeeppintom the link you posted doesn't worky.
  22. Hey I'm new to the site and to MJ's so don't flame to much. I searched a little but found nothing. I just bought a 86' mj with a blown 2.8 I also just bought a 92' xj with a reman engine in it. Is it possible to swap the 4.0L into the mj.
