  1. I have checked the pigtail and I couldn't find anything wrong. And I confirmed I do have spark. I also used a testlight and with it running you will notice the light pulses with all the other injectors which is normal , but on number 2 injector the light is constant and really bright. Also I noticed if I unplug the distributor, then i start getting this crackling like an electrical short coming from the injector #2.
  2. Hey everyone, I’m seeking someone with any knowledge on repairing an ecu for an 89 renix ecu. The first ecu went out and I got a replacement but shortly after the second one did the same as the first. My #2 cylinder fuel injector isn’t working. I found my fuel tanks had alot of rust in it. Which caused my injectors to clog up and I guess it caused the ecu to get hot which lead to the #2injector to quit. I have already installed a new fuel pump, got rid of the rust in the tank , new fuel injectors, now I just got to get #2 injector firing again. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated!
  3. Does anyone have a link to a good well built replacement fuel tank and a fuel pump assembly for my 89 2wd 4.0l ? Please and thanks in advance
  4. I have not pulled the pump. That is my next plan. The tank is down to a quarter tank of gas so I may drain it and clean it as well. But it cranks and idles fine. When you leave out on the highway , you can only get to maybe half throttle before it begins cutting out. And after that, it’s slowly over the next few miles get worse until you have no pedal left before it’s cutting out
  5. Right I check and no vacuum leaks. The sound appears to be coming from crankshaft sensor location. And also I changed fuel filter and besides the whistle sound the truck ran great yesterday afternoon……. This morning, right back to doing the same thing.
  6. Yes 89 4.0 in-line 6. And 2 day of consistent use.
  7. I'm going to assume this is a fuel issue. But it’s like there’s no end to it. The truck cranks and Idles fine. As soon as you get on the road, it skipping, sputtering, and barely get 30mph out of her. First it was a fuel injector. I found I had a dead injector by pulling the wires to each listening for a change in the engine. Ok replaced it, ran great for 2 days. Then same sh*t again. Seems it was a plug, so replaced plugs and wires, again , ran good for 2 days and back to skipping. I found the intake and exhaust manifold bolts were finger tight. Replaced the gasket, And torqued everything down. You guessed it…….2 days. Then another injector, got another 2 days. Anyone else noticed the pattern here? Yea , I’m losing my patience. Fuel ballist resistor or whatever it’s called seemed to have corroded plugs, clipped cleaned and replaced. 2 days again……..over and over. The fuel pump sounds to be working fine. So wtf is going on? Also I replaced the crank sensor and I got a loud whistle almost like it has a turbo on it now.
  8. Good point Eagle. I would like better acceleration and low to mid-range performance for sure. I guess I’m mainly looking at my options, different routes to take, and seeing what interchangeable parts are out there that will improve performance at a low cost. Money is tight, but gathering all the info and advice from everyone here at CC will help me come up with a game plan and point me in the right direction. I’m a knowledge junky, so to speak,🤓.
  9. Well thats no good cruiser54. I was really hoping to catch a break for once, well I guess I will return it and order another. Thanks for the info . And hey Pete, was wondering if you knew what came with the 05 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the hemi in it? Just curious, because my friend has one he just pulled the engine from for his truck. So I could get anything else off of it for near nothing.
  10. anyone can confirm whether or not I can use this?
  11. Also I have a small issue at this very moment in time. Ordered a new intake/exhaust gasket for the 89 stock 4.0 due to mine was leaking and just old. But the dummy’s sent me one that was for a 99 to 06. Website says it’s not compatible with my truck but placing the old one side by side with the one they sent, I really can’t see much difference. I can return it and get my money back. But due to the holidays it will most likely be next Monday before I get the other gasket. Can this one be used? Like. I said the bolt pattern matched perfectly, and I really need to get it back together asap.
  12. Very true words Pete, but even with a few more horses, it still beats the old 81 Dodge d150 v8 I have also….man that things loves some gasoline. 😂 Also thanks cruiser for the tips. I’ve already been in the process of going through your list of tips. It’s a lot of help and much appreciated. Jpnjake, what year model explorers came with the rear end you mentioned?
  13. Is there a swap for the rear end? Or is it something that’s I’m gonna need to tear down and rebuild myself? Either is fine, just curious.
  14. Hello all, and thanks in advance for any suggestions or help on the subject. I’m sure I speak for more than just myself when I say at this point in time, Money is TIGHT! lol As much as I would love to build a brand new engine overhauled and filled with all the goodies available, I just can’t at the moment. But I am looking to squeeze in a few more horses in the ol’ straight 6 if possible, and who else better to ask than the Comanche club family ! Was curious if there are any interchangeable parts I might could find at places like pull’a’part, maybe cylinder head for better performance, intakes, etc etc.
  15. Sorry, I know everyone is got to be getting tired of me asking for help. Lol I drove all summer without a thermostat because it was like that when I got the truck. But winter is coming, so i bought and installed a thermostat. Couple miles down the road i noticed It was beginning to run hot. So being i was on the side of the road, i just removed it for now and proceeded to head home. But now its running hot without the thermostat????? What happened????
  16. OK problem solved .... Somewhat at the least. Seems they sold me the wrong tire rod end......or something isnt right. The adjuster for the toe instead of doing like should, instead when turned either direction both tires turn in the same direction. No wonder i couldn't get it to half @$$ align so i could drive it to the alignment shop. So i just broke tired rod loose from time, used a tape measure and did it manually and seems to have done the trick. Thanks everyone for all the help and for sharing your knowledge with me.
  17. And as far as i know, the controls arms are the original.
  18. Ive done shadetree alignments many times before and everything went well. But something just isn't doing right with this truck. And I'm certain it is an error on my part. I mean it has minor issues to begin with. But after driving it for a month or two I noticed it was getting worse and quickly . that's when i got underneath the truck and had someone turn the wheel and I then found the track bar was bad, i replaced it, and then was able to see the drag link end was bad as well, i replaced it. Same with the tire rod end on left side. Its not darting all over nearly like it was. Now its more or less bouncing like crazy, and still pulls pretty hard to the right. But this is the part that starts to confuse me. Sometimes i can hit a bump in the road and the bouncing seems to shift more to the left side than the right . at first i thought maybe tires, or maybe a bent rim. But I've changed tires, and rotated them around. I'm gonna try to do the alignment again. But just to be sure I'm not doing something wrong, the drag link adjustment is what changes the toe, correct?
  19. Well, so far. I had someone turn the wheel while I was under the truck and i inspected everything I possibly could. I didn't see anything loose, or any cracks in the frame. So I guess next I need to jack it up, but its definitely wearing the outside edge of the tires. You can see the angle of the tires when standing back looking at the front of the truck. I will jack it up and see what I find and report back here when done
  20. Also yes, i did replace the track recently .
  21. no i haven't done an alignment yet because it wouldn't do any good until I replace whatever is wore out or loose . it doesnt do it constantly, it may ride smooth for a couple miles, then the left side start bouncing, the the right, then both. And not necessarily in that order. Also, no lift , its all stock.
  22. Can anyone tell what's causing my frontend to bounce , wobble, and track side to side. Both front tired are wearing badly to the outside edge on both tires. I know it was falling apart. I just replaced the front left tire rod and also the drag link ball joint end ( the side the hooks to the pitman arm). I'm assuming it has something to do with the camber adjustments maybe??? But this suspension setup is new to me. Can anything be adjusted???? I slowly replacing parts that need replacing. I just have a budget i have to work with over time. Thanks in advance for any feedback.
  23. Thanks for the feedback everyone.Going to search around now that i have an idea on what and where!
  24. Hello again too, just wantedto say its a pleasure to be apart of the Comanche club. So I was just needing some advice on the best route to take on rebuilding the front suspension of my 89 comanche pioneer, 2wd, 4.0 liter. As ive stated before, it sat for 8 years before i come across it. So needless to say everything bushing and bearing related went downhill fast. I would like to upgrade it to something a little more rugged and dependable but unfortunately money has been extremely tight with today's economy and ive had to bury my grandfather and father both this year with only month separating them. Needless to say, I'm ready to see 2023,with hopes that it is better year than this one. But any help would be greatly appreciated, maybe point me towards the best place to purchase parts at a low price. Its my only dd. And as of now its parked due to I know the drag link ball joint, upper and lower ball joints and who knows what else. Thanks in advance
