  1. Thanks for the info! Off to the boneyard!
  2. I have been looking around to see what the LOE is to get rid of my bench seat, and have 2 bucket seats for my Comanche. I know the mounting hardware for the bench will not work for the buckets, but I am sure someone has done this and would have an idea on what all is required. My hope would be to find new buckets that fold forward, and figure out what kind of hardware I would need to attach to the frame. Any suggestions, or gotchas I would need to know about when doing this?
  3. Hmm, looking on both ebay and trexautoparts show nothing for 16 Gal systems, and my old sending unit is actually dead. Is this model able to be upgraded to a bigger tank and have it send proper readings then?
  4. Well damn! I screwed up then.. Thanks for the correct info.. Now to do it all again... Anyone need a pump / sending unit slightly used? LOL!
  5. Jeez, just realized it might be dependent on the model and such. Sorry about not enough info.. 1986 Comanche 2.5L 180K miles.. Overall wiring in good shape All common grounds shown in howtos have been cleaned up and redone. No additional grounding has been added at this time yet however.
  6. I just replaced the fuel pump and sending unit. Now at full it shows a half tank. Seems to drop correctly as I use fuel, but not all that helpful to me as you can guess. I had a hell of a time installing it since it was an emergency repair literally in a field. What are the chances that I bound up the float with the sock, when I installed it vs. me screwing up and ordering the wrong pump/unit ? The reason I ask is I am not thrilled with the idea of dropping the tank, but will if it was me screwing this up. Just want opinions from people who have more experience than I do working with this stuff. It was a first time repair for me. I have already cleaned up my grounds, and am still considering adding an additional one to the tank ground via the bolt for the fuel filter as some of the howtos suggest, but have not done that yet.. I was also in the middle of changing out my instrument cluster at the time, and testing with both clusters show the same behavior, so I know it is not on the cluster end..
  7. Also if you do get stuck pulling a harness, I BELIEVE the yard in Arlington has a mostly intact 1989 Cherokee sitting in the back, if that would be compatible with your rig or not, I have no idea. No dash in it (I grabbed that), but most of the wiring looks to be intact and in good shape.
  8. Worse comes to worse, since you are in Washington if you are close to the Lake Stevens area, you can poke at mine and maybe trace stuff back on a more intact system to see what needs to be done on yours. I am in the middle of cleaning up my electrical as well. Chasing down a short from the parking brake that ends at the fuse panel. Cleaning that stinking mess out right now.. :) 1986 Comanche 1991 Wrangler
  9. I have seen both here and at other sites that the dome lights are a common problem with one side clip breaking off. Thought I would share a fix that worked on both of mine. This STL file clips onto the existing dome light and takes the place of the broken clip. It is designed to "pop" off before damaging the dome light itself if someone tries to yank the light out. The clip is only designed for the side opposite of the wiring harness, since on both of my lights, that's what broke. I made it a tight fit for the cutout, since once it is inside, it looks like there was always play in the original design. If it is a little too tight for your cutout, shaving the side corners (not the top) should give a little more wiggle room if needed. Hope this is helpful to other people out there :) ComancheDomeLightClip.stl
