  1. Thanks for your comments. I will check for the temperature light while cranking after I attend to my starter relay issue. I guess if the temperature switch does not close until 220 F I have no way to easily test it.
  2. 1990 4.0L Renix - This truck is new to me and I have a few questions about the dash warning lights. First: At what temperature does the temperature light go on? Likewise at what pressure would the oil pressure light go on? And at what voltage would the Battery light go on? Second: I know the temperature and pressure are triggered by switches, but what triggers the voltage (Battery) light? The ECU? Third: When I turn the key to ON the oil pressure and battery lights light up but not the temperature light. If I ground the temperature switch connector the light comes on, so the bulb is OK. I am assuming it should light up like the pressure and voltage lights when the key is first turned or am I missing something. Thanks
  3. It is the adjustment nut for the parking brake equalizer. I believe it is one piece. I am also looking for one as mine was so rusted I had to cut the cable to remove it. I'll probably just use a washer and nut if I can not find one. The "nub" on the left of the washer fits into the hole in the equalizer to keep it aligned. Let me know if you find something. Thanks
  4. Thanks - I am seeing only 10 volts at the IAC. So somewhere I am losing 2 volts. I will start by pulling the ECU and cleaning the connectors.
  5. 1990 4.0L - I know that the ECU controls the IAC Motor, but does anyone know the voltage of the signal? Is it 12V or some reduced voltage? I am trying to figure out why the motor pintle is staying in the retracted position(high idle). Yes it is clean, new BWD IAC and TB is clean. I had the same issue with old IAC, hence the new one. I have to put a piece of duct tape over the passage on top of TB to keep the idle down. Thanks
  6. Yes- 3 "skinny" leafs and one short thick leaf on the bottom.
  7. I am replacing the old rusted fuel tank in my 1990 truck and silly me I did not note how the vent hoses were routed. Although I am not sure they were correct when I dropped the tank as one of the lines was squashed for about a foot. The tank must have been dropped sometime in the past and the hoses incorrectly installed. Does any one have a photo or can describe how they are routed ? On another note, does anyone know of a source for or an alternative for the hose which connects the plastic vent pipe from the air intake to the vapor cannister. The hose is different sizes on each end and L-shaped Thanks
  8. Thanks for the replies. My shackles are the same as in Fiatslug87's photo. So much weird stuff has been done by POs and I am trying to return the truck back to normal as much as possible. Thanks again
  9. I recently acquired a 1990 short bed. It has a slight rake to the suspension - rear higher. The current leaf spring shackles are 4 1/2 inches - bolt to bolt. Is this the OE length ? The springs appear to be OE. Thanks
  10. Just got a new Spectra fuel tank. It is coated on the outside with a slimmy"jell". Do I install it as is ? Multiple searches give multiple answers. Since it is made of a Ni-Terne steel which is suppose to be equivalent to a galvanized finish some folks say it does not need anything further. Some folks say to remove all the jell and paint/undercoat it. Any suggestions/comments/advice would be appreciated. From what I can gather there is suppose to be a shield ( not a skid plate ) under the tank which attaches to the straps. Is this shield plastic or metal ? My truck does not have it. Is a replacement available ? Has anyone fabricated their own replacement ? Thanks
  11. Thanks for all the input and photos. I guess I can get some sheet metal and fab some now that I know what they look like. Concerning my other question, is there some sort of cover/shield for the fuel filler hoses going to the tank? Thanks again
  12. New to the MJ world - does the truck have a liner for the rear wheel wells like the front ?? Also is there a cover underneath for the filler hoses ? Thanks
  13. I went with the Spectra tank and straps. Now to find the J-bolts. Thanks for the help.
  14. Thanks guys. I noted that the Spectra JP5B tank on Rockauto says it is for a carburetor engine. What would be the difference??
  15. I need a new gas tank for 90 (RENIX) Short Bed. Does anyone have any recommendations for a source or any suppliers to avoid ? Thanks
