JK Poison Spyder Hood louver install
UpstateMJ replied to UpstateMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
No cat, but I am running a 2000+ header and intake on a 98 motor. No rear o2 sensor -
Wanted to keep my under hood temps down in this horrible South Carolina heat we have been having. Picked this brand new hood louver up off market place for cheap. Already running 5-10 degrees cooler. My trans tunnel still getting so hot I could cook an egg on it though. Even with carpet and kil-mat. Any suggestions?

Update she’s still blown up. Made it from sc to jeep invasion for a whole week and back home and something in the motor let go right when I pulled into my yard. Have a new motor ready to drop in just haven’t had the time. Also gotta redo my rear shocks. While it’s been down I bought a 01 xj 3 link long arm kit and been working on that pile and dailying it.

Also changed the water pump and thermostat today. Gonna do the Prestone chemical flush tomorrow after work.

Yeah literally blood sweat and tears went into 97 swapping this thing. Still gotta button up a few things and it’ll be ready to try to drive to work everyday

Pretty sure I have a caliper sticking and the top end of my motor is making some noise but imma throw some 1540 rotella in it and hope for the best. Also installed new ac lines and evaporator and a external trans cooler. still gotta realign the doors and fenders and find some good headlights.

Got the aw4 in just waiting on a new trans mount to come in. When I went to install the trans I broke a bell housing bolt off so that was a fun fix. Also installed an external trans cooler to keep the temps down.

Sold my ax15 set up to go auto because I was tired of messing with it. So I picked up this donor xj that runs and drives but has a rod knock from hell. But for 280 bucks I ain’t losing much.

Still having issues with the trans so I pulled it again today and the pilot bearing was sitting crooked I wonder if that’s my issue. I took it out and will be putting a new one in tomorrow. If that doesn’t fix it I’ll be auto swapping it.

35x1250x15 mastercrafts showed up today also changed the clutch to a 98 xj clutch and new retaining clip for the shift fork. Gotta bolt it back up to the long arm cross member and install the driveshafts and we shall see if that fixes my issue of grinding in every gear. I put the ba10 clutch in cause it looked exactly the same and was brand new but apparently it’s different.

even thought about 35s but I originally started this build to be a daily like stock grandpa truck but now it’s gotten out of hand. Probably will settle for 33s currently changing the clutch. Again.

Haven’t done anything lately. Been low on funds paying bills and saving for our vacation in august. But I did order a cav fab track bar and bracket, new front rotors, and all new steering went with a new v8 zj tierod and a stock drag link since they are the same on zj xj mj. Not gonna be doing any wheeling with this one aside from dirt roads and maybe some old forest roads to chase waterfalls with the family so didn’t see the need for beefy steering at the moment. Still gotta figure out my shock situation and get the brakes all bleed and hooked up.

Yeah it’s the 10th year or something. Me and 4 other people started the very first one we had 300 Jeeps. Now it’s over 10000 a year. It’s got really big. Look into it. It’s a good time. I just need steering and a track bar to have it moving again. Then just gotta find some wheels and tires.

Ordered some 7.5 rubicon express coil springs and it was still raking bad so threw in some 2 inch spacers and now I think it’s too tall. But hopefully the winch will weigh it down enough. Based on my measurements these re 7.5s are actually 6 inch springs. Oh well. They were 110 shipped on Amazon warehouse. Gotta adjust the arms out a smidge to get the coil angle right and find a track bar and steering. Gotta have it ready by the end of august for jeep invasion in pigeon forge.

Crap. I literally just scrapped one.
