  1. I'm replacing my cps on my 1988 mj pioneer 4x4 manual 4.0L engine and I lost the original bolts. Does anyone know the bolt size so I can get 2 replacements and if I have the size, hopefully I'll be able to get them somewhere.
  2. How would a picture help? I've replaced everything on the engine last fall and couldn't get it running with professional help. The distributor was replaced after I first discovered it was broken off the mount. That's where this nightmare started. And I put in several new CPS sensors, s new stsrter, ignition switch, starter relay, plugs, wires, cap rotor, and it still doesn't spark. I've come to the place where I boys '93 xj for the HO 4.0L and transmission. Anything that would help would be appreciated
  3. The original engine was the victim of sabatage. There's no telling what happened but I've tried everything suggested and it won't start. The distributor was broken off of the mounting bracket one morning last August and I've tried everything even taking it to a shop and there's no explanation for what could have happened
  4. Why won't swapping engines and electrical systems and ECM work in the MJ but it works in the xj?
  5. I'm about to swap engines and transmissions from a'93 automatic xj with an inline 6HO 4.0liter into my 1988 MJ manual tranny. The xj runs great but the Comanche doesn't run at all and I'm at a loss for why. I'm pulling my standard tranny with the engine and want to put everything from the xj into it changing the MJ into an automatic. Any tips?
  6. Broken distributor at the mounting bolts. I'm confused about what happened to my Comanche straight 6 engine. It started and reved super high suddenly so I turned it off, then someone else said they tried to start it when I wasn't there and it did the same thing. When I got back and turned the key it cranked but didn't fire or start. I noticed upon inspection that the distributor was broken off the mount and sitting up about an inch. Does anyone know what could have caused that to happen, and why after replacing the distributor properly the new one cracked and the engine still won't start
  7. I am very grateful to have so many knowledgeable mj owners to bounce problems off of. Thanks for all your help!

  8. My 1988 MJ won't start and the cpk is good, the starter won't crank suddenly after I replaced the ignition switch. But the dash is clearly engaged and wants to start. Anyone know why it won't start?
  9. I'm totally puzzled. My Comanche is a 1988 and when I turn on the headlights, the tail lights and running lights don't come on, but when I put my foot on the brakes they do come on. Also when I'm towing my trailer, the trailer running lights don't come on unless I put my foot on the brakes. It's not a fuse and I just replaced the switch clearly not the switch. Where is the ground so I can check it next?
  10. I had my rear driveshaft fall off while pulling my trailer on relatively flat ground. I put it in 4x4 high and drove 20 miles home. It did fine, but I was nervous the whole time.

  16. I have an '88 pioneer longbed manual 4x4 that I tow my 16' camping trailer. It handles pretty good, but doesn't pull steep mountain grades on the northern California coast very fast, but does pretty good usually. It has the tow package but no upgrades. 300k miles and still going strong
