  1. i have a crappy electric that really just pulls more hair than cuts and i think I'm allergic to something in those strips they put on razors everytime i use them i break out bad. so i went and bought a straight razor(mainly cause they are cool as sh**) but i had a friend at work tell me to try them iv had it for a week and gotten pretty comfortable with it now and its startin to take just as much time as a mach lll would. i got the razor at some salon store for like 5 bucks and the replacement blades are 4 bucks for a 5 pack pretty smokin deal. and so far i like the shave better than anything iv used before.
  2. Somebody owes someone a bus ticket... :rotfl2:  :rotfl2: screw the bus ticket i had to buy a uhaul lol but yes that was me well leason learned my loss is now jims gain i had recently done new water pump, powersteering pump, idler pulley, plugs and wires the day it happened, new cherrybomb muffler, welded in new floor pans, new rad overflow bottle, had fixed any body rust too all in preperations for the coast lol guess it didnt wanna leave colorado. maybe i should have just saved all the money and rented a trailer lol
  3. hey guys sorry for no contact I'm in vegas right now just got to a computer my sister posted this for me the day it happened and we left. well ill miss the truck but looks like it found a good home  maybe it will have a second life afterall. I'm glad to see some one from here got it. this was the only place i told her to post. and i figured you all would jump at the chance. i believe jim got it right? ill be lookin forward to talkin to you soon and sending the title and keys to you too. unfortunately this is the end of my comanche days for now and hopefully i can rejoin the ranks with all of you soon. mike ill probably keep lookin on the board just to see what happens to the truck lol
  4. 1 mile East of Genessee Colorado on I-70, 1987 Blue/Green MJ with blown motor. :wall: Come take it and haul it away and its yours for free. Private Message me with your info and I will send you the keys and title when I get to school, gladly! I am headed off to school in Sacramento and have no money to tow or fix it. After 48 hours the state will tow it away and it'll be gone. First come first serve!
  5. so mytruck is a 87 mj 4.0 2x4 and it has just recently started to get a rough idle and feels like hesitation when starting to drive. this only seems to happen once the truck is hot. and its not a over heating hot just normal operating temperature. if i really get down on the gas while its doing this it seems to sputter at first and then will accelerate like nothing is wrong and while driving it seems fine but as soon as i hit a light or park the rough idle returns and the hesitation when i go again. if i park the truck for a while and it cools down the problem is gone untill it warms up :dunno: now iv done some lookin around and looks like i might need to do a valve cover gasket but other than that everything looks fine. a valve cover gasket wouldnt do this would it? any ideas?
  6. well the only way iv gone is i-70 over vail pass to i-15 to vegas from there to sacramento I'm not sure but we will see and ya cameras comin and i can access this board from my cell phone so if i brake down ill be on here lol so long as i have signal
  7. well i think ill take all the advice given above and go ahead and try it i decided not to try and pull a trailer on the trip and have a friend following me with my trailer i guess i figured safety in numbers lol but thanx for all the good info ill be tuning up the truck and gettin it ready for the trip ill let you all know how it does thanx, mike
  8. ya i have plenty of tools that are going with me thats part of my cargo I'm hauling. i figured maybe do a tune up and check the gears and change the oil, hadnt thought about flushing the coolant i just replaced the water pump about a month ago so it has tons of fresh fluid now. i guess I'm just worried about the motors life i keep thinkin what if the motor only has 1400 miles or less in it and i blow it while moving. ill need this truck as my dd in sacramento also. but its definately the cheaper option for me right now
  9. ok so I'm moving and wanna know what you all think about possibly driving my 87 mj 4.0 2x4 with 220,xxx miles on it to sacramento,ca? i live in co, i don't know anything about the history of it we got it from an impound lot. its my dd and I'm very comfortable driving it around town and even into the mountains. in my trip i would stop in vegas to drop stuff off then on to sacramento, i figure its roughly 1400 miles. would you do it? should i or should i look into trying to tow it? :dunno:
  10. the bar from the grand cherokee is thinner than the bar from my mj so i decided to drill out the hole a bit and see if i could attach it. once i had it drilled out i attatched it to the rod and then pulled the assembly through the hole to attatch the new lock the new lock attatched to the rod once the snap ring is on the lock you can shove it all back in the door reattatch the lock clip on the inside of the door and your done i would test it before putting your door back together. mine worked out perfect
  11. so i know this isnt the right area for write ups but i put it in here for you all to tell me what iv done wrong with it so my future write ups can be done right. so please let me know what you think. sorry for the cell phone pics ill use the camera next time. this is my first write up and after looking through the diy section i noticed nobody had done this one so here goes..... first off my wife bought me my mj from a police impound lot so when i got it all i had was the ignition key. rekeying the locks was out of the question due to price and the locks looked like this.. so i bought replacement locks from advancedautoparts they cost about 12 bucks. first remove all door paneling.. then remove door lock retaining clip.. once clip is removed you can pull the lock and bar out the hole just enough to remove the old hardware. i have no pics of the old lock coming out sorry  onceiremoved the lock i noticed the two locks looked different called to make sure they didnt give me the wrong locks and found out that was the only lock they had :wall: so to the junk yard i went. i found that grandcheroke door locks were the same as my new ones. the hardware that attaches to the bar is different tho. my old stuff hardware from the grand
  12. definately don't feel anything in the steering wheel while braking. ill try moving it around and see if i find anything if not i guess I'm gonna have to tear everything apart i guess looks like ill be replacing some shocks too iv never been a big fan of the cheapy part store ones any suggestions?
  13. got a few questions, i have a 87 4.0l 2x4 no lift with about 215xxx miles on it first question: ok so I'm moving to sacramento, ca soon and need to know if there are any extra things i need to do to my truck to pass emissions it passed fine out here but i was told ca has some smog regulations or somethin that i would have to put some parts on my truck anybody in ca know about this stuff? second question: when I'm driving and i hit a pothole or even a man hole cover my truck seems to float around side to side i try to hold it steady before i hit the hole but it will still do it. any ideas?iv owned a lifted xj before and have experienced death wobble before and this is definately not it it seems to throwthe truck sideways almost. third question: my brakes work good they stop me at any speed but iv noticed the pedal kicks back at me when stopping no grinding pads are good and i don't feel any sticking either?
  14. nice looks like ill be heading up there this week sent the kids to grandmas house so now i got time for my truck
  15. lookin good. good to see more people in co too. what yard did you go to for the seats? iv been wanting to do that swap on mine too and have been worried about price.
  16. ya iv been thinkin that maybe i shouldnt be cheap and go ahead and spray the whole thing just to ensure the life of the bed the more i strip off the paint the more i find rust under the paint I'm thinkin the po had someone just spray over the problems
  17. so I'm gettin ready to strip my truck and repaint it need to clean the rust and just make it look good but i wanna know if i need to paint the inside of my bed? i have a really nice bed liner and plan on using it still so can i just paint up the sides and the bed rail caps and call it good? :dunno: or will i run into peeling/chipping issues later? my bed liner will cover the bed rail caps when done too. any info will help thanx
  18. how much travel should the shocks have to get the full amount? yes you need new perches,i suggest longer ones to help with spring wrap. you will also need to come up with new shock mounts. or you can go the lazy route and just buy a bolt on SOA they are like $110 and come with everything you need besides shocks, just bolt it in and go. ya but if i go that direction the wife can't yell at me for burning myself with the welder and thats just not fun :rotfl2:
  19. i like the look of that now to find me some long arms! hey maybe a stupid question but when i do the soa do i need to get new perches? shock mounts? or can they just be reused? how much travel should the shocks have to get the full amount?
  20. will the stock springs give enough flex? i think that would probably work good and my leafs look to be in surprisingly good shape the rear seems to ride higher than the front already. what does eveyone think about the tera flex revolver shackles?
  21. sorry its a 87 mj 4.o 2x4 auto(don't know what sorry) and the xj is a 89 4.0 auto not sure again sorry i had a guy tell me the transfer case was a np231 on the xj if that helps. :dunno: so thanks for the info on the leafs will have to shop around I'm thinkin any good companys to look at? does anyone make a 4link for the rear and would it be worth doing that? i also have some zj lifts coils for the front 4.5 lift they were free and was told they would actually help keep the lift if a bumper and winch were installed does this sound right? and is it safe to run those?
  22. ya the fan shroud was missing when i bought it kinda sucks iv almost taken my fingers off acouple times on the fan puttin the hood prop back lol well i was wondering if that stud that comes out of the ac bracket that the fan and pulley bolt into was bent cause the sound has returned :( what is that thing called?
  23. ok so now that i have for the most part worked out all the bugs in the motor its onto the lift. so here's a few questions will xj lift kits fit on a comanche? i have a 2x4 comanche and might have a donor jeep (xj) for transmission/transfercase/and front axle will these bolt in with minor adjustments? i saw on another post that a soa will get about 5-7" in the rear the potential lift from the xj is a 4.5" lift. can the xj leafs be run on my axle without soa? if i did soa and xj 4.5 leafs (if they will fit) what am i lookin at needin for the front? the lift has uppers/lowers trackbar shocks and 4.5 coils. school me please i need all the info i canget i wanna do this once and be done with it don't wanna play the inch game
  24. ok so here's some pics...first my brothers jeep aka my new donor :brows: my comanche the groove the fan pulley was cutting into my timing case so i yanked the fan and put the pulley on with out it to see if the fan was making the noise but it still there so i started searching found out that the power steering pump was the problem whens prayed with something it shut up and when it dried it was back so 1 new pump and i think the problem is fixed ill know in a day or so if it comes back fingers crossed thanks for all the input oh and the harmonic pulley is in good shape :beerhead:
  25. The fan pulley doesn't take any washers and on mine it can't cut into the timing cover because it is to the right of the cover. Did you mean the belt was cutting into the timing cover? There isn't any in or out adjustment on any of the pulleys. They all bolt or are pressed down tight. I'm about to go out there and try some more things ill take a camera and show you the fan pulley and the timing case. i had inspected the pulley and it looked good i didnt take into consideration the post it all bolts into being bent ill check and thanks for the pic of the pulley it should definately help me inspect mine.
