  1. Thank you for going through all of this. It is quite helpful.
  2. Thank You. this should help.
  3. The wiring, I cut off the connectors, just need the wiring diagram. The manual I have just shows the plug, not where the wires go.
  4. I am sure someone has already asked, but here it is again. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for 98 Cherokee doors? I have made them fit, changed the strikers and aligned them. Now for the daunting task of wiring them.
  5. Since Jeep didn't make a step side, I figured I would. I pulled the bed, and started from scratch on a bed. The back of the bed was a little long, so I cut it off just behind the shackles. It is a long bed truck, the bed is now 6'4" long. I don't know how long they are from the factory.
  6. From the album: 1990 Comanche Big Ton Build in Justin Texas

Didn't like the frame so long behind the back tire. I shortened it about 10" (I think that was the measurement).

    Bed Frane Rails

From the album: 1990 Comanche Big Ton Build in Justin Texas

Used 1X3 11 gauge tubing for the rails on the new bed. Welded 1/2" bolts to go through the frame.
  8. From the album: 1990 Comanche Big Ton Build in Justin Texas

Fitting sides, matching bed height to front of the bed.

I figured since Jeep didn't make a step side , I may as well.
  10. I am just starting this on mine. do you by chance have a wiring diagram for the power windows? I can figure it out, but if you have already done it, it could save me a frustrating weekend. I figured out the hot wire for the driver's side so I can roll the windows up and down, but that is as far as I have gotten.
  11. I just know when I try to download them, it gives me an error, they all seem to be around 4Mb. I have been just taking pictures at the end of the evening when I make progress. These doors are sure impeding that for today.
  12. Let's see if this one works. I have about 50 good pictures of my progress. Down side is, looks like it needs bigger tires.
  13. I have tried to start a build thread, the problem is all my pictures are too large to post. I have tried to resize them, so far with no luck. I really think you all are going to like this build, I am building a step side bed, and it looks pretty cool so far.
  14. I will be very careful not to cut them up (the jams and striker that is).
  15. Hinges are in great shape. how hard is it to get the hinges off? I am just starting this part of the process.
  16. no, the adjustment would go the other way. it appears to be about a quarter of an inch too far back, and the shim (there was only one) would move it back farther.
  17. I bought a pair of doors off a 98 Cherokee. It bolts up to the hinges fine, but don't seem to fit exact into the opening. Is there a trick that I don't know about?
  18. Thank you all, looks like the cross member and fuel tank straps may be the ones I didn't see. I am doing this part in the gravel, don't have it in the air enough to properly crawl under it.
  19. Okay, I am trying to take off the bed, I found 6 bolts/nuts, 3 on each side holding it down. I took all of them loose, the bed lifts up 1/4", and acts like I missed something. Any suggestions? are there more than 6?
  20. Looking at the transmission, the case comes apart, it looks like in front of what looks to be the overdrive. I imagine that means no, it can't be done.
  21. What do you know, it worked. Now if only I could make the transmission work as 4WD.
  22. It is a 1998, I am told it is an AW4 I believe. I just have 2 transmissions, both are 2 wheel drive. Would love to convert them if it is possible.
  23. I added information on my profile, I don't see where I put it that it shows up when I post.
  24. Is it possible to convert a 2 wheel drive jeep transmission to 4 wheel drive? I know on my turbo 350 and 400, you just have to change the tail housing and shaft. I was just wondering if it is possible with the Jeep/Chrysler transmission in my Comanche.
  25. Very nice build. I am not far from you in Justin. You have given me some great ideas, along with some inspiration to do a lot cleaner work on my build. which restoration shop did you take it to for the body and paint work?
