  1. Thank you! She still needs a good amount of work but I’m happy with how she’s turning out
  2. Thanks! The decals were on the truck when I bought it and I don’t think it’s factory because I looked for it for a while when I was thinking about swapping my doors and couldn’t find a set that was exactly the same.
  3. Haven’t posted in a while but started a little work on the ole girl again. Installed a transmission mount adapter to clean everything up for the YJ ax15 to be able to bolt up to the cab fab crossmember I have.
  4. Haven’t posted in a while but have made a lot of progress with the mj! A buddy with a lot of Jeep knowledge helped me out and we got the d30 with wj knuckle swap and the 8.25 from my old xj swapped into the Comanche along with a cab fab Alpha series 3 link. Also swapped out the BA10 for an AX15 with a 231 transfer case along with slapping on some new tires on rubicon wheels. I’m going to have to find some better adapters for the rubicon wheels though to space them out more. Other than that I’m very happy with the way she sits at the moment!
  5. Thanks for the pictures! That was actually going to be my next question. Nice looking MJ by the way
  6. Sweet that’s what I was hoping to hear!
  7. Hey all. I’m in the process of installing a Cab Fab Alpha Series 3 link on my mj but ran into a small issue. Right by where the crossmember bolts in there is a bracket on each side that is getting in the way of the upper control arm mounts for the 3 link kit. My question is can I just remove these all together? They have 6 bolts on each bracket and doesn’t really look like it’s doing much. Sorry if this is a commonly asked question, searching it didn’t pull much information for me.
  8. Hey me too! Thought I was the only one in South Georgia on here
  9. Took a look today and couldn’t find anything that looked like a part number. Probably hiding from me in plain sight if it has one
  10. I couldn’t tell you the exact year but definitely 80s. Kept trying to find a Cherokee that didn’t have the fuse block mounted with the torx bolts (forgot to bring torx bits today) and me and my buddies stumbled across the van. There was an e-brake handle that one of my friends wanted to try and retro fit into his cj and I just happened to spot the fuse block and noticed it was very similar to the Comanche. It had the block mounted with standard bolts instead of the torx so we pulled it really quick. Brought it home and realized it was exactly the same aside from some of the female terminals being in different locations.
  11. Had a pretty good junkyard run today. Came home with a SYE for when I do my lift and 4x4 conversion (already have an ax15 and a 231). Also grabbed a wood grain dash from an xj that was in good shape and a fuse block to steal terminals to swap for my corroded ones. Oddly enough I found the fuse block in an old Chevy box van and the plastic box itself is the exact same as the one in my Comanche.
  12. So I took a closer look at both turn signal sockets and thought I found my issue. The left socket was previously replaced and who ever wired it before did a terrible job. The wires were just twisted together and covered with electrical tape and one wire had already come loose. So I cleaned those up and got rid of the issue of my left turn signal indicator on the dash lighting up when I turned the headlights on. The little lip for the ground in the right socket was completely corroded away so I ordered a new one and swapped it in. Got rid of the dash light issue for that side as well. But the right signal still won’t flash of the headlights are on and when they are off it flashes extremely bright and dimly flashes the side markers and the left turn signal as well. Looking at the wires for my left turn signal they’re different than the ones for the right. It has a blue, a gray wire with black stripe, and a smaller black wire. Now I’m wondering if the op spliced in some other wires to go to the socket and did something funky so I’m going to try and do some deep cleaning on wiring this weekend if I can for all the front light wiring.
  13. Thanks! My only complaint is I wish I would have gone with a flat steering wheel instead of one with a little depth. Makes the cab feel a little more cramped with the steering wheel extended out a little
  14. The box looks to be in good shape so I’ll look for some new terminals to swap out for the old ones. And with how tedious and time consuming it’ll be I will take the time to take pictures as I go and make a DIY post!
  15. Didnt really think of that so if the problems persist I’ll make a post on there for sure! I was really hoping not to replace the fuse box but it is looking like it will have to be done. There is a good amount of corrosion on most of the terminals this Comanche is my first project vehicle so I’m not the most electrical savvy person.... but I guess this will be a great way to learn. I did come across cruisers tips and plan on doing the ground refreshing. And I have not checked the switch for continuity but I will tackle that tomorrow!
  16. I’m fairly certain I swapped that fuse already but I can’t quite remember so when I get home I’ll double check and make sure.
  17. I got it from Etsy.com. I just searched plaid fabric and they had plenty of styles to choose from!
  18. Was finally able to work on the mj the past few days. I’ve been having some issues with lights (turn signals, hazards, running tail lights, brake lights, and reverse lights). Most of the lights were inop so I began swapping fuses. There was a good amount of corrosion on the old fuses but even with new ones it didn’t change much. Took a look at all the bulbs and they all look new. I then replaced the turn signal switch and the flasher and haz relays but that didn’t change much either. After looking at the fuse box some more the haz/stop terminals looked pretty nasty so I cleaned them up the best I could and now most of the lights work.... kinda. I still have no reverse lights but hazards, brake lights, running tail lights, and the left turn signal are good. The right turn signal will flash front and rear but the left turn signal will dimly flash along with it but only when the headlights are off. When I engage the headlight switch the right turn signal will not work at all but the left still works. Another weird thing is when I engage the headlight switch the turn signal indicators on the dash will light up and hold solid. The signal indicators will also dimly light up when I press the brake pedal. My blower motor does also does not work but after looking around I found that the blower motor and some of the lights I’m having issues with share a ground point on the driver side. Took a look and.... neither of the grounds were there at all! Dug around in the mass of wires going to the firewall and finally found the grounds and hooked them to their location above the driver side wheel well. Turned the key and nothing changed... same issues. Next step I’m going to take is to improve the ground under the dash.... any other suggestions? My Comanche is a manual so I checked the master cylinder and it doesn’t appear to be leaking... there is a decent amount of surface rust in that area though so maybe the PO already replaced a bad one and I’m still stuck with the gremlins of the corrosion in the fuse box. On a brighter note I did take the opportunity of replacing the turn signal switch to update the lame stock steering wheel with a grant! I wasn’t very good about taking pictures but I’ll still post a few
  19. A good suggestion. I didn’t think too much into it but if those stripes don’t line up it’ll drive me crazy lol
  20. Thank you! And yes I agree the visors stick out like a sore thumb now .
  21. Thanks! And yes I want to take them to a local upholstery shop and see how much they would charge to throw the same fabric on them. I’m not much of a sewer lol
  22. Finally made it stateside and was able to begin work on the Comanche! She needs a little love but nothing too major. One of the first things I did was replace the sagging headliner. It was my first time doing it so had a few creases but overall I’m happy with the look!
  23. Thank you! I can’t wait to get home to start working on her!
  24. Any idea on when they will make a DIY kit available for sale? I got one of their DIY front Manta Ray bumpers for my xj that I plan on swapping over to my MJ. I will definitely be in the market for a rear to match
  25. I see it now thank you for the picture I will edit my post! I’ll admit I’m new to the Comanche world even though I’ve wanted one for a while so I had just assumed it was factory since the rest of the Jeep is pretty stock.
