NOT ONE CORNER HAS BEEN CUT ON THIS BUILD and I'm proud to say that after some of the suggestions I heard throughout the process! UPCOMING PROJECTS: '99 XJ wishbone intake w/ TB & sensors (have all parts), extended braided brake line kit, complete AC system install, factory rear sliding glass and frame replace (currently have), windshield replace, all window tint, SYE, winch w/synthetic cable, rear bumper w/ light pods, stereo/bluetooth install, new gauge facing, LED gauge cluster & interior lighting, chromoly axle shafts (both axles) BKFabworks Custom Rock Sliders, body work cab/bed, paint original color, new tires, fender/bed armor Never have I took on such an extensive project, not to mention my first Jeep build....with 90% of work performed by ONLY your's truly (8.8 install, floor pan install, Unibody tie-in plating, and bumper install courtesy of: BKFabworks, LLC). My mother won a brand new '87 Comanche SporTruck off the radio when I was 13 and it grew on me pretty quick, but never got into the Jeep scene for 25 years, until 2012 when my younger brother built his '99 XJ, two years after being diagnosed with terminal bone cancer. We lived side by side, so the last 5 years of his life we were together almost every day, and wrenched on cars for years together for hobby. Couple months before he passed he mentioned how he wished he had time for Me and Him to build a Jeep together, but what he really wanted to buiild was a Comanche. Two years and five days after he passed on December 28th, 2017, I traded my '87 GMC Sierra Classic I had always wanted since a kit, all original except for axles upgraded, 135,000, for this Comanche FILLED with disaster after disaster. ONLY headlights worked, absolute wiring disaster with severe fluid leak damage on fuse block, engine idled at 3000 rpm, PO just finished a HO long block swap but utilizing Renix Intake, TB & sensors, vacuum line nightmare, no floorpans, total oily messy disaster under the hood....but somewhat ran and drove. So after complete wiring harness replacement (round #1) on top of MANY, MANY other dilemmas, a broken piston ring finally ended my 2 month daily driving streak. June 22nd, 2019 I unexpectedly decided to do a full HO swap for it when I rolled my '95 XJ, and make as many repairs and upgrades that I could along the way. June 27th I began stripping the Comanche and the rest is in the pictures and everything listed above. So here we are, full blown MJ addict refusing to get help, but did cut my Jeep inventory back to my Mj and little brother's XJ, and I'll part with them the same manner as he did. Sorry for the length!
  3. Thanks bud! If you can find it, do shoot it over to me. I think I should be able to get either of those years pretty easy anyways.
  4. Will a 97+ XJ booster be a sufficient swap? That's what my donor is, but I'm sure I can find a 95-96 if absolutely necessary.
  5. What I'm starting with. Runs rich, but bottom line is....It runs! Running gear is mechanically sound, figured I'd get these up for my "Kickoff Pics"!
  6. Did a little Good Ol Boy bartering last week, and dug up this Smurf of a project! Got this '87 base 4wd model w/ factory 4.0, and an '89 lwb 4wd model w/ 4.0 and the tow package. Traded the '89 to my fab shop guy for retainer to help me get the bugs out of this one. He personally owns 12 Now, does all my fab work on all my Jeeps, so I figured he is my guy lol. Like I said.... bartering! It's a running, mechanically sound truck, so I have a good base to start with. The PO just did a '97 HO swap and only removed about 80% of the renix crap, so needless to say, it runs like $#!&! My guy just rewired the rear harness and I installed it yesterday; Still no brake lights or turn signals, so I'm out the door in a few to get back at it. Anyways, the in-cab wiring looks like a child did it, and every single fuse in the box was WRONG! Hell they even had a couple MINI FUSES installed lol. (Hence the title of this post)!! Both floor pans contain rust, with the driver's side equipped with Flintstone's brake. I have floor pan already cut and fitted in, just gotta carry it over to get welded in. Picked up an 8.8 last night and a brand new, still in the box, set of 3.73 gears for it AND for my Dana 30 in front. And only set mre back 175!! Well, I gotta go for now, but I'm sure y'all will boot me before too long with all the questions lol. Any tips or hints y'all can throw my way will gladly be accepted! Thank you for your support! PS Y'all don't forget to leave reindeer food on in your yard tonight!😉
