  1. I knew I was going to get the Pics please. I will once I put it back on in a week. need it off for moving other crap around. I was just wondering if someone ran into this before.
  2. The plan is to the 90 that I am driving right now will be parts donor for the 88. the 90 will be donating the harness, gage pod, rad supports, D30, transmission and transfer case.
  3. I picked up this 88 MJ and with it came a cap. I am not 100% sure if it is off a MJ or not. it sits about a 1/4 to 1/2 "by the eye" inch lower than the roof line ( but id has no rubber gasket on the bottom. at the rear it lines up perfect and at the front it is about a 1/2 to and 1 inch "by the eye" to narrow. Now the guy I got it off, told me that his father in law had the truck from new, and the cap has always been on it and they are color matched. Is this a actual MJ toper or did the old man in 1988 get something close enough and cheaper from something ells? It has been suggested I could be off a Ranger?
  4. It is out of an 88 I am guessing I am going to have to take the computer and wiring harnesses from the 90 I6 in order for that to run.
  5. Thank You for the help everyone on the XJ 4.0 swap that is coming up shortly. To the point here. I picked up a 2 wd "parts MJ" a couple weeks ago for the price of the tow to the guys house from where it died. I finally had a change to go over it and have a good look. Man is it in good shape. very little to no body work needed. the cab corners are perfect, the floors are solid carpet is dirty but that should shampoo out. in issue is it has a 4 banner that is toasted, and it has the basic interior, bench seat, and a gage pod that only has fuel and speed. what is involved in swapping a 4.0 in, all the 4wd stuff and the gage pod out of my 90 eliminator (with a trashed body) into the 88. I know this has been done and there is write ups, could you just give me the links please and any tips for the job. Thanks
  6. Ya ya ya I missed it. Next
  7. Good Day I picked up a parts donor MJ for my MJ build. (once it starts I will post a build thread). Once the box swap is done I will have a in so, so rough shape, bush beat box left. I am going to building a trailer out of it. What I am interested in, is when I am done how heavy is it going to be. I will build a new frame and have a trailer axel under it. The box is a shot bed how heavy are they alone. I am going to be building it on cool factor alone. but is going to be any heavier then a M101. Thanks agene for the help And no Dunl you cannot have the box to do the same thing.
  8. Thank everyone for the info. Now that i know it will work I just have to find some time to get the work done. As it looks right now it won't be until October until I get to pull the engine out of the donor.
  9. No I have not posted on this sight just CJA and NA4WDA local off road clubs. I will be going from 97 4.0 down to a 95XJ and a 94 4.0 XJ down to a 90MJ. Same deal just swap the sensors over to the new engine. so the exsust and Intake manifolds will work. what is the CMPS connector. "sensors and dizzy from the 98" what's the dizzy.
  10. when it went I was under acceleration going up a small hill on the highway and it sounded like a rock had been knocked up under the XJ. and then I had no power and there was a black mist coming from the back of my rig.
  11. All the sensors will work? Will I have to relocate or modify the sensor or the harness for any of them.
  12. Nope can't see it but snapped the cam shaft as well.
  13. Good day everyone So I had a little booboo think my 95 XJ wheeler . Plan A I was offered a 4.0 out of an 97 XJ for really cheap from a friend. I was wondering what is involved in getting it to work in the 95 XJ? Is it a direct swap sensors and drop it in set up. Plan B I have a 4.0 out of 94 that I was going to put into my 90 MJ. What I am thinking is I am going to put it in my 95 XJ and get the 97 4.0 and make it work with the 90 MJ. What is in evolved in getting a 97 4.0 to work in a 90 MJ The help is very much aspirated.
  14. I am over here beside Dunl in Red Deer, Alberta.
  15. Thanks My rear bumper is beyond saving so I am going to scrap it and build a off road styled one.
  16. Hey everyone I am still lurking, but I am moving at the end of the month into a rental house with a large garage. therefore the MJ build will start. I will do an into of what i am going to be doing once more of the ducks are lined up. I am right now looking to find out who/ what manufacture built the front bumper on GreenF350s MJ . I really like how it has the slit bend in it to match the front end. viewtopic.php?f=7&t=19786 Also I am going to be building my own rear Off road bumper. who's built what and what dimension do they use for sized and angels. Thanks everyone.
  17. A couple questions and bump for a sweet MJ What do you have for a Rear bumper. I really like the front bumper who's it from, and what lift and tier size are you running. I am just starting my MJ build and am taking ideas from all over.
  18. Sorry no. the first time that I saw it, was on Extreme 4X4 on spike. They did that to the "Urban Gorilla" they built
  19. What I have seen in XJs is using a piece of nice sheet metal and self tapers. put sound detaining material in-between if you want. If done right it looks cool .
  20. Thank You will start searching over there. I am a long ways into he tech section but not finding anything I need.
  21. Ya I have the hole engine, wiring harness and computer with it as well. At the same time I will be changing it over to a open coolant system.
  22. Hello everyone First post here I will do a proper intro shortly. I am hoping that I did not put the cart before the horse. I picked up a 4.0 HO out of a 94 XJ today to transplant into a 90 MJ. Can anyone point me to a thread or topic of someone that has already done a swap. I am hoping have the solutions to all the issues before I start pulling bolts out. Thank You Aaron
