I have got a lot of work done over the last couple weeks. I got the rest of the frame welded up. The axel came in and installed. I used a piece of conduit to run the weir from front to the rear. I put a bumper on to make it all look right. Once I got the rubber on in I rolled it out to see what stands it has against the XJ. it is sitting a lot taller than I thought. I POR15ed the frame. this stuff looks like powder coating once dried. I handle so I can pick it up and move it around. I set it a little further back then you would think but now the handle clears the spare I did find a tall jack. I am still going to build a foot for it so I don't have to crank so far up and down. I used a receiver hitch so I can use a ball or a max access hitch. Once the POR 15 was dry I got the box on and see how it looks altogether. I still have to get the spare mount done, the spot where the jerry cans are going to mount and wire the lights. I am almost there then the inspection and plate.

I have been finding some time here and there to work on my tralor. I have the springs mounted, The rest of the cross braces welded in. I have the centers cut out for the 2x2 for the tong

I just realized I had not started a tread over here. My bad. My MJ is now gone but I did keep a box from a parts truck. I am copy and past what I have so far. What I got so far for the frame. once I have the axel I will locate the rear cross support and the middle one so they will be in the right place for the shocks. I had to make plats to cover factory holes in the MJ box supports. I drilled and put tread inserts in to bold the box to the frame I want to be able to separate the two for future modifications and repairs The inserts and tool to install them. they simple to use. Drill the hole to the size according to the chart, drop the insert in, you may have to tap with tap hammer. using a wrench you hold one part of the tool and using a socket with the allen key in the kit screw it down till it is tight. the directions give to a torque spec. the insert crushes pinching itself to the material you drilled into.

Hello everyone. I have built a trailer using a old MJ box. I am using the factory lights on the trailer, and i was wondering if anyone has a diagram of the lighting so i can figure out how to rewire it. Or if someone has already done this and explains it all in there tread, please point me in that direction. Thank you for your help

So am almost done building a trailer out of a old MJ box. I need to order a axel on Monday and I need to know the brake drum face to brake drum face length so once it is in the tiers will sit in the correct place. Thank You for your help guys

Thanks guys this is going to be a winter project if I get to it. there is not much left on the one side as for rocker panel and cab corner so. the truck is going to be a light wheeler, camping and hunting rig so I figure the rockers are goign to need protecting so build them as the protector.

Thanks for the links. I tired searching and tried going threw builds one at a time but still usually one or 2 pics and that's it. Do you have any suggestions to help prevent it from braking free that fast. the truck is only going to be a mild wheeler. it is for hunting, fishing and camping more then anything.

welcome I have been picking the brains of the site for some time and this is the best resource you can have. Ask the question and you will get the $100 fix and the $1000 fix. If the wiring harness is to fare gone, go find a 88 Cherokee (XJ) and strip the harness out of it. It might save you pulling your hair out with electrical issues down the road. -
I have been following the builds on here and I have not seen anyone do the 2x6 for a rocker. I am thinking this might be a good option for my truck because the corners and most of the rockers are gone. I just want to see some other builds of people doing it and the end results. Thank You

I got the new box off the parts truck and on this one. I treated the underside to POR 15 and the top of the fuel tank because it was covered in surface rust and allot of road dirt sits up there. next order of business was a new rear bumper and it is hit proof, bomb proof, and zombie proof. I don't have a plasma cuter and nor the greatest at welding I called up a buddy Dana that has mad skills. Dana working on it. To make it zombie proof we put lots of support. To get around the shape of the frame, we cut up the old stock mounts and used them as spacers to get the right spacing. the mounts started as 6" 3/16 flat bar and it then was cut into shape buy keep cutting until it fit. I used a piece of 5x2 3/16wall More POR 15. this stuff lays down so nice it look like the bumper was powder coated. the only issue is my dumb @$$ didn't measure right and took some numbers from the sites saying the bumper is to be 60 inches long. outside edge to outside edge of the MJ is about 64 to 66 inches. so it is a little on the inside of the sheet medal but I am ok with this because I can do some pipe bending later make something if I want to. All mounted up. Next Rack on Toper for Canoe.

I need to get out that way next year, not in the cards for this year. I would love to hike some of those ridges. it would be great for me getting into sheep shape.

As he walked off stag the curtain behind him lighted up and you could see a jeep based truck was there. Now at the same time the Jeep Gladiator disappeared from the concept museum and reappeared in a yellow. They I have now read in another article that it diapered agene and has come back more DOT friendly and with the 4 CYL diesel gone and the 6v gas instead.

taking the air box out question.

Thanks Guys. I am in Alberta, Canada so no requirements for this age of truck. I am thinking I am going to get the adapter form rusty's off road. way cheaper than the other kits. I think he means the IAT (Intake Air Temperpature) sensor. The stock location for this is on the intake manifold, not the airbox, although it is a popular performance mod. What's this mod with the air intake sensor and what does it do? -
Alright I have been researching putting a lift into my MJ here. how much lift do I really get out of a axel over. I all I want to run is 31s. I will be regaring to 4:10s. I will not be off reading this any further then logging roads and lease roads. I have a xj bult to the other stuff. But I am thinking of a long arm set up just for the ride it will give. Zone doesn't have anything yet and I will be emailing them in the next day or so to put a bug in there ear. What do you guys suggest. what works for you.

I want to go to a cone filter and on the front of the air box is a flapper, or what is left of a flapper. and a hose that runs up under the intake. I know this is for cold starts. but if I rip it all out do I have to do something to where that hose hooks up at the manifold or can i just block it somehow.

so I figured it all out today. I have a double vacuum set up because on side is for the cruise control and the other is for the HAVC -
Some slow but steady progress. Summer has been just so busy. I removed the box and traded the frame to POR 15. I got my parts truck home and dismantled. the new front panels are on this truck. I had an issue with the inner fenders pulled off the week @$$ nuts that are all rusted up. after some thinking the light build went off and this is what I came up with. They are just push on with some teeth that hold them in place I can cut them off needed later. well I have been having trouble with my hood release. The cable is seizing up. I have lubed and freed it up a couple times so instead of changing or fighting with it agene I went with a $10 option.

Thanks guys. I am going to relocate mine. The one I have on the MJ is a longer and looks like a dabble pumper kind of thing having 2 vacuum lines teed together and 2 small lines teed together that go up to the engine bay. Now the one out of my parts truck is smaller and only has one vacuum line and one small line. Can I use this one instead or do I need the dabble set up? -
Good day everyone. I am looking at up grading my front bumper to a JCR one. Behind the bumper on the passenger side is a canister that at one time was attached to the bumper. mine is now just zip tied up because the mount broke. I believe this is a vacuum canister for something, what is it for? and can I get rid of it as I have seen some do or is better to relocate it to another place in the engine compartment. Thank You

Here is one for the hot rod, classic car guys. I am wondering is there a aftermarket/stand along cruise control system out there. I am thinking I want one for the MJ and the stock vacuum crap is too far gone. I would be much easier and nicer to just replace it all. I do not want the throttle cable only set up ether. I have one in my XJ. It will only set the throttle position and not adjust for changing road conditions. Thank You
