I got one under my 88 that came from my 86... 4.10 open-stamped C.... If only I had one more C after that... The trac-lok would too sweet.. Keep it.... sell the 86....
-
I actually got a decent deal at Jeeps Unlimited.. I got a radiator for my 86 comanche that was used, but looked brand new for $60.. I gave them the old one that had previously made contact with the fan due to a completely failed water pump.. Not too bad.. Got some other stuff there fairly cheap... Let me think and ask the wife about what I want and tomorrow I'll let you know Sam... Just might be missing a few things.... Dude wanted 25 a piece on the tail lights, raised my eyebrow, but that's just an average deal... Right :dunno:
-
Where are you located Sam....

Sorry bud, no cargo light or switch... But you gave me something new to put on my "someday I'll own it" list... I have the vin it is 1J7FJ36LXKL554798 but don't know what the registry is... Ill try and get some pics up, they are on my phone and I just got it so I don't know how to do it yet.. Oh wait you can only link to images here.... Might take a while

The one that has all the junk cars..... I gotta keep my stash somewhat secret... :D

I'm in Loveland CO...

Oh yeah, and there is a cherokee there that has the full gauge cluster with the old font and needles.... Looks very cool... Let me know if anyone is interested..

I'm laid off for the winter again and happened to be at the JY this morning when I saw a decent comanche... It has tail lights, interior map/dome lights, blue dashmat, good seat belt buckles, good mirrors... Let me know if anyone is interested in these any of these items... The truck is a manual- renix 4.0l... Has a newer rear slider window, good tailgate, decent bed(long)... still has emblems too... Also there is a cherokee there with a 44 in the rear, don't know what the manche has, so excited I forgot to look..

Sadly this will be where i post my intro

I had a knocking noise coming from what I thought was my tranny area too... Only at idle, and it would go away while driving... Turned out to be the exhaust banging on the crossmember due to worn out transmission mount... So definetly don't rule out easy fixes before you tear into something that doesn't need tore.... -
Hmmmm... Well I live in Colorado so that will help me out some... being 4wd will help too.... maybe better parted out, but I'd hate to do that to a good runnin fun drivin MJ... Darn, I was afraid of what you guys are sayin... It has 3.56 gears...
-
I know, I know... I'll try and get a pick up... I just don't like photobucket.. It is 4wd and has 172,000 miles...
-
I have an 86 MJ long bed with the 2.8v6 and 3 spd auto ... It has 3.56 gearing and D30/D35 axles... Stock suspension... It has new pads and rotors all the way around... Starts quick and runs good (just gutless)... Everything inside works, but there is no radio or speakers in the door... The body is straight, with only a quarter size rust spot on the rear tailgate... The paint is fairly shiny and looks alright... The windshield is crack free... It has some 30" bfgs ats with a little tread left mounted on factory jeep wheels with jeep center caps.. Just wondering what a good starting price for craigslist would be... I'm thinking about $1750... I have around $1000 invested plus a few days of greasy hands... What do you all think?? Should I ask for more or less?? Anyone here want to buy it?? I'd give a better deal to a Jeep guy, and an even better deal to a MJ guy...
-
So that is where you keep your kilos...

Cracker, cracker, cracker.... I started this thread to get advice on my MJ project.... I have gotten some great advice from people who have been in a similar situation.... AND, I got a few replies from you.... You called me cheap when I stated I would buy what I know is a better product for less, just because it wasn't RE... You tried to argue points with Mnkyboy after he gave me his thoughts on the different types of longarm set-ups (he even said "THIS IS JUST MY OPINION")... I am thinking about different set-ups and things that have been suggested by people who are here to share advice and help... (that's not you cracker) It's not your advice or opinions I don't like, it's the delivery... Thanks to you guys that are here helping people, it is appreciated...

Yes cracker I know how to measure for shocks.... Did I ask how to find the length of shock I needed???? NO I DIDN"T.... All I did was say that I was "LOOKING INTO SHOCKS".... Why am I looking at shocks???? Well as stated the one's that come with the kit are too short.... What the hell does that have to do with finding the length I need??????.... Move on cracker I don't need your advice or comments....

Thanks for the info mnkyboy... That kinda helps me out... I think I'm gonna go with the radius y-link... I already have the DB's on my XJ and I'm gonna leave them on there forever... It has a nice stable ride that handles insterstate speeds really well.... But since the MJ is gonna my toy truck I like the idea of the LA's... I'll look into the the 4 link but I'm sure cost will quickly bring me back to the radius y.... Now I'm looking into shocks... the 2.2 RC shocks that come with the LA are too short I have heard... A couple other people who installed the kit stated the shocks were the same length as the 4.5 inch kit. causing them to fully extend and become limiting straps.... Prolly won't last too long like that...

Well, I mainly plan on driving the truck to work (less than 10miles), and everytime I go messin around in the mountains... My XJ is gonna get parked in the garage.... I like to drive all sorts of trails and really hate to have to turn around (unless there is a closed gate).... I don't ever plan on selling it... On highway handling is important to me, and so is safety... maximum articulation ranks lower on my list than great ride on the backroads... My xj will be the family ride so I plan on leaving it alone it is just in too good of shape to trash when i'm out screwin around........ Based on this what do you fella's think would be the best style for me...
-
Thanks Hubbell, I'll check out that thread... What shocks did you go with? I was also thinking about the Iron Rock Offroad 3 link... But their crossmember is pretty small, and only bolts to the bottom of the uni frame rail... Also, I'm a little scared of the just having one upper arm... A plus is you don't have to mess with raising the transmission if it sits too low as the IRO 3 link has adjustable height built into the crossmember... Still leaning toward RC though... The reason I'm leaning towards the long arm is that for just around $100 dollars more I can ditch the idea of short arms and drop brackets... I know they work and ride well, but I've never had long arms... And I only have the 3 leaves and the overload, so no metric ton springs here...
-
Ok I got my little girl to sleep so I'm heading out to the garage with the baby monitor.... I still have some questions, so I'll put them here in one post 1. Will the Rough Country longarm belly pan work on the MJ?? Called RC and spoke with Ryan... Told him what I was planning and he didn't say it wouldn't... Then had a vendor call to see about better price... He told me RC said it wouldn't fit :dunno: 2. Is there a way I can tell if my 86 has the Metric Ton springs? (like is there an extra leaf, etc.) Never mind, Thanks Pete.. 3. Do the antiwrap perches work by themselves? I know Pete said he uses an extra main leaf, but I don't have access to a set of springs, and ordering one from HellCreek would cost more than the $40 perches... Now that I have the axles out of the 86 I need to find a way to get it out of my garage  the only trailer I have access to is a triple axle deck over... too big
-
Far from "identical".... The RE braces mount under the tranny crossmember on the XJ, the RC braces do not go nearly as far back. Also the RE DB's move the location of the LCA further back, the RC one's do not. I agree... the RC braces are shorter... both RE's and RRO's braces go to the crossmember... but RE doesn' have a brace that works for the MJ
-
Dude.... Your are missing my point :wall: .... I could buy the RRO control arm drops for the xj at the price of $205 and then cut the factory brace off the control arm mount and have the same thing as the RE brackets and braces... made in the usa for $196 less..... That's it... That's my point... I know the RRO dropbrackets and braces are a strong and a good buy... But since you are on such a higher standard I don't expect you to understand what a simple person like me is trying to convey.... Us poor ignorant bastards that choose to buy bolt on suspension components will just continue this converstion without you... You just want to argue... So please take it somewhere else... You're not going to change my mind...

Here is another question I'm directing mainly to Hubbell if he see it.. or anyone else who knows Does the RC 6.5" long arm kit for the xj work on the mj?.... I have heard two different answers today... Also, RC won't sell the XJ lift without the springs and shackles... They won't sell the 6.5 mj lift without the short-arms either...
