  1. i did lots of google searches couldn't find anything, maybe i'm blind idk, maybe you guys can help me out 88mj, ax15 swap, 4.0L last night finished the tranny swap, figured we'd go play around in just some easy stuff, touch the dirt then head back. started it up, it was idling at 2,000 rpms... figured it was an automatic choke or something bout a minute later it dropped to around 750rpms, figured this was good. got about 10 minutes from my house and the idle, (neutral or clutch in) would rev back to 2,000... it was also pulling like crazy being the high rpms. got to the dirt, idle stayed up, flexed out (first time for the 'manche) in the dirt, and it was on 31's, had more to it but was ontop of the rock continued up the trail about 5 minutes, when i was moving in first gear the motor was holding at about 1,500 rpms pulling me got up the hill a little ways and the jeep just lost everything, idle was bouncing between 250-750, give it gas, nothing really happened, just seemed to bog it out a bit if anything just sat and sputtered... got it down the hill in neutral with the motor running for power breaks and steering. something weird was when i would slowly let the clutch out in 1st gear it would kick back up, pull the jeep for a second (running normal) then die back out after about 2-3 seconds we just got done with the tranny and i personally think it MIGHT be something with the clutch? don't think it was properly bled, but don't know why that would make it idle and sputter poorly. also i was running it with the exaust off at the 'doughnut' or whatever, so just the downpipe. any ideas? sensors? sorry for the long jumbled post, just trying to describe what is going on, thank you guys
  2. cool, that's what we did but why would it be so 'springy'
  3. i got my new crossmember, cut it, got the 'tranny mount' that sits on the cross member, inbetween the tranny and cross member but that mount has 2 holes in the top, i need 4 in a rectangle pattern is there a plate that needs to go in there? what is it called? thanks alot also what is the CJ pilot bushing or whatever?
  4. i am finishing up my ax15 swap in my 88 MJ bolted up the tranny, then was basically done and realized i needed to add some more clutch juice bled it how you would bleed a brake system, it feels good, no play, only problem is, is that the clutch pedal is fairly stiff but super springy! like push it down and the pedal is pushing back hard, feels like a springy feel, when i let it out it pushes back super hard any ideas? is there a proper way to bleed the system?
  5. thanks for the info, great looking mj!! i know it's a tri-link up front, had the disconnects, i can take pics of the set up, not sure which generation it is, i wanna say he did the lift about a year and a half ago it has 4.10 gears right now, i'll probably do the 2" and cut when i get the tires but we'll see how is the flex? i'm wondering how the rear is gonna do, it's more or less still stock.. how's it gonna tuck/droop?
  6. can't find much info on it, other than that's the lift i got with my MJ is this a good lift to run? how much lift is it really? any pictures of MJ's sporting it? how big of tires could i run with the lift? the rear was swapped for a D44 so maybe a little more clearence? i'm asking these questions because it is sitting on some terrible 31"s and i have the hook up on some 36"s... i think they may be to big, i'm wondering if i'll need an extra 2" puck/shackle lift
  7. looks like the BA10/5 or whatever it is then... damn thank you guys, what would it take to convert it over to the ax15? just a new t-case? direct bolt in?
  8. yes 4wd i'm pretty sure i'm running an ax15 right now? i'm confused on what a BA 10/5 is??? if i am running an ax15 will it match up? what will and what will not? sorry i'm confused hah, just getting into this jeep thing
  9. sorry this is my first post, just in need of some help, after i post here i'll start my build thread I have an 1988 MJ 4.0L with the 5 speed manuel ax-15 i got this 3 days ago and the tranny is blown, i found a steal on a ax-15 from a 1991 Dakota V6 and the guy was running it in his 1995 Wrangler i'm not to sure on the spline counts but should this work as a direct swap? both are chrysler, just wondering on the splines and everything else hah thanks, Austin
