  1. Thanks, In about an hour I will be going down to my truck again and testing that one. Anyone have a spare one lying around? lol.
  2. Hmmm.. I see there is a manifold air temp sensor and an ambient air temp sensor. Do you think it might be referring to the ambient air temp sensor? I found a pic of one but I cannot find this on my vehicle either.
  3. Thank you for the link the info! That will help. Say, where is the air temp sensor?
  4. I took pictures of all of the readings with the key off, the key on, and the engine running. Here it is. Maybe someone can make sense of it. Key off: Map: 3.0 Hg TPS: 0% PARTIAL O2: .0V OPEN LOOP INJ WIDTH: .0ms BARO: 3.0Hg COOLANT: -40F AIR TEMP -40F BATT: 12.7V RPM: 0 [ ] ALFACL: 0 ADGAIN: 0 ADVANCE: 0 VACUUM: .0 Hg KEY ON: Map: 29.3 Hg TPS: 0% CLOSED O2: .0V OPEN LOOP INJ WIDTH: .0ms BARO: 3.0Hg COOLANT: 48F AIR TEMP -40F BATT: 12.5V RPM: 0 [ ] ALFACL: 128 ADGAIN: 128 ADVANCE: 0 VACUUM: .8 Hg ENGINE RUNNING: *a beep and a red light flashing* DCT 1018 Map: 19.3 Hg TPS: 0% CLOSED O2: .0V OPEN LOOP INJ WIDTH: 4.7ms BARO: 27.8 Hg COOLANT: 63F AIR TEMP -40F BATT: 14.8V RPM: 1118 [* ] (the * is actually a solid black square block) ALFACL: 128 ADGAIN: 128 ADVANCE: 23 VACUUM: 10.0 Hg Please keep in mind that the engine was cold to start and I took the pictures as it was warming up. After a bit, the idle went down to just over 800 (but it was rough running). I don't know if my O2 sensor is toast but I tired bench tests with it and didn't get any readings. I have a new one on route. Also, there is a TPS monitor. When I didn't touch the throttle, it was at 0%. I pulled the throttle open slowly and watched the percentage rise. Just past half way, it was at 6% and if I was very careful, I could get it to 7%. Past that position, it would drop to 0%. Going backwards was the same as forwards, only in reverse (go figure). Do you know what ALFACL or ADGAIN is? I only have this reader for today so if anyone has any knowledge of these readers that can tell me what to do or has the manual that can tell me what a 1018 is, I would very much appreciate it.
  5. AH yes. With the key on, I got not DTCs. With it running, it came up with a 1018. It's stated on the DRB-II code reader as DTC *arrow pointing up* 1018. Any idea what that is?
  6. Greetings, I was able to borrow a DRB-II scanner with a super cartridge. I hooked it up to my truck and the thing turns on fine. I set it up to read an XJ 2.5L (it doesn't have an MJ option), Manual transmission, without AC, with Power steering. I go to tests, engine, and it tells me to turn the key off. Then it reads Testing... Then I get a DTC error of DTC A 1038. Any idea what that is? It won't let me do anything else... well, that or I just don't know what to do. I do not have a manual with me. Any help?
  7. Hmmm... Any clue what this is? Pardon the quality of the pic, especially around the... sensor?... There appears to be one green wire coming out of it. I wish I was at my truck right now so I could get a better look and a better picture. To get your bearings, this is just to the right of the distributor when looking at the right side of the engine block. The white thing in the lower left is my oil filter.
  8. My crankshaft position sensor is A-OK. So, you DON'T have a CAMSHAFT position sensor mounted into your distributor? A good way to tell is that you see no wires aside from your ignition wires coming out of the cap, most likely on the bottom of the cap.
  9. Say, is my distributor suppose to have a sensor to detect the position of the camshaft? I've heard it called many things. Camshaft Position Sensor, Sync Signal Generator, Distributor Sensor.... Remember: My engine is the 2.5L from 1990 which suggests that it's a Renix.
  10. Yesterday, I pulled out my O2 sensor to get it all ready for the new one. As I got out from under my truck, I pulled a muscle in my leg... so I called it quits. Not to worry, I will post my results. :)
  11. Greetings to all! I am looking for a TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) for my 1990 Jeep Comanche 2.5L (4cyl) 'E', Manual Transmission (5 speed) The good news here is that the same one that fits on mine can be found on the vehicles on the list below as well. If you have a scrapper lying around and wouldn't mind making a couple bucks by selling a TPS off to me, as I cannot get them up here on the west side of Canada, PM me! Here is a pic for those who do not know which one it is: Here is the list of vehicles the TPS can come off of: CADILLAC DEVILLE (1982 - 1983) CADILLAC ELDORADO (1982 - 1983) CADILLAC FLEETWOOD BROUGHAM (1982 - 1983) CADILLAC SEVILLE (1982 - 1983) DODGE MONACO ES 1990 DODGE MONACO LE 1990 EAGLE PREMIER ES (1988 - 1990) EAGLE PREMIER ES LIMITED 1990 EAGLE PREMIER LX (1988 - 1990) JEEP CHEROKEE (1986 - 1990) JEEP CHEROKEE CHIEF (1986 - 1988) JEEP CHEROKEE LAREDO (1986 - 1989) JEEP CHEROKEE PIONEER(1986 - 1989) JEEP COMANCHE (1987 - 1990) JEEP COMANCHE CHIEF (1987 - 1988) JEEP COMANCHE CUSTOM 1986 JEEP COMANCHE LAREDO (1987 - 1988) JEEP COMANCHE PIONEER (1987 - 1990) JEEP COMANCHE X 1986 JEEP COMANCHE XLS 1986 JEEP WAGONEER 1986 JEEP WAGONEER LIMITED 1986 JEEP WRANGLER (1987 - 1990) JEEP WRANGLER ISLANDER (1989 - 1990) JEEP WRANGLER LAREDO (1987 - 1988) JEEP WRANGLER S 1988 JEEP WRANGLER SAHARA (1988 - 1990) JEEP WRANGLER SPORT (1987 - 1988) RENAULT ALLIANCE (1983 - 1987) RENAULT ALLIANCE DL (1983 - 1987) RENAULT ALLIANCE GS 1987 RENAULT ALLIANCE L (1983 - 1987) RENAULT ALLIANCE LIMITED (1983 - 1985) RENAULT ENCORE (1984 - 1985) RENAULT ENCORE ELECTRONIC 1986 RENAULT ENCORE GS (1984 - 1986) RENAULT ENCORE LS (1984 - 1986) RENAULT ENCORE S (1984 - 1986)
  12. That's right. I knew I should have gotten some sleep last night.
  13. WOW... Mine was simpler than that. 2 screws and the top came off. Perhaps mine was pre broken. Thanks for the link!
  14. Yep, they exist. The 2.5 is actually a 2.46L, the 4.0L is a 4.0L (go firgure), and they had the 4.2L and a 5.9L (8 cyl)
  15. Ha! I was there last night.
  16. Coquitlam. Not TOO far from ya.
  17. The VIN would suggest otherwise... It's a 1J7FT number meaning 1=USA, J= BUilt by Jeep 7=Truck F=4001-5000 T2=Cherokee or Comanche 2 W.D. Base model. Also, mine is a standard tranny. Hmmmm....
  18. I bought the truck with a kit and performed the work required for the kit, got it painted and voila! This truck use to be in shows but now it's a project. It's an amazing summer vehicle. The looks it gets.... just great. The roof is like a hard top jeep. Removable. Heavy, but removable. I'll see if I can't dig up some old pics. The digital cameras were not around when all of this was done.
  19. Yeah where do you get those bulbs?? I've never seen them before. I will try shorting them out and see what happens. Thanks!
  20. So, I've seen others emission stickers that say MJ in the upper right corner. That might just be a coincidence but mine says YP (see pic): Am I looking to deep into things or is my truck a YP??? :rotf:
  21. Say, is there an easier way to find out what gear ratio my differential is rather than marking the drive shaft and tire and rotating the tire one full spin only to watch how many times the drive shaft spins?
  22. Timing is tomorrow... but how do I check the EVG?
  23. I just looked at my reservoir and it says it's without a sensor in it right on top. lol.. no wonder its so dirty.
  24. Well, I unplugged the O2 sensor and there was no change (nothing noticeable). I might have gotten a little rougher but I don't think so. I have pulled out the O2 sensor but is there any way to test it while it is out?
