I am confused....please help
manimal replied to manimal's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
THANK YOU! Got it all taken out and the XJ prop valve back in. Thanks again -
I have read MANY threads on the rear load sensing valve. I am unclear as to which line I can leave/use,and which to remove to eliminate the valve. I am installing an XJ prop valve in place of the distribution block, and want to get rid of the NON functioning load sensing valve. My brake lines are in GREAT shape so I don't feel I need to run a NEW line. Thanks

SOLD....

Well, I have decided to sell it to get a Grand Wagoneer(FSJ). Actually it's one that I previously owned. So I can take my whole family out. Check out the classifieds..great deal for someone!

Cool, thank you very much. Looks like I will be building a new headlight harness and using the existing wires as triggers. Thanks again -Lance

I am getting ready to wire in headlight relays and was wondering if anyone knows the gage wire the headlights are? Thanks BTW I have looked at an FSM and it does not list it. Thanks -Lance

My thoughts exactly! I was thinking of using 31x10.5x15 on 15x8 US slot mags when I convert my 2wd to 4wd.
-
Anyone here running old aluminum slot mags? If so can you post up pics? Thanks
-
Well, it's on the road. Got it smogged and registered today! I had the head rebuilt, new injector, fuel pump sock. Purrs like a sewing machine now! Plans are to convert it to 4x4,just need to know what trans will bolt up to the 2.5. I want to stay with the manual trans for ease of install. Then I will put in a FORD 8.8 disc brake rear axle w/4.11's and build a D30 to match. I LOVE this truck. BTW, the interior is dark blue.

Well, it turned out to be a bad ground. I put a new sock on it and it works perfect. Thanks for the help. -Lance

Ok, I replaced my injector with a new one. I pulled the fuel pump out and found the rubber grommets around the pump were all gummy. Where is the best place to get a pump with all the right rubber grommets? Thanks -Lance I have done some searching, but have not found the info I am looking for. Thanks again. BTW It's and '88 MJ 2.5 TBI,4spd 2wd.

I just found this guy on the internet. I was looking for an injector for my 88 MJ 2.5 TBI. His price for a NEW injector was 49.99! Check him out.http://www.injectors4u.com/fuel_injectors.htm

Question about distributor for 2.5
manimal replied to manimal's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thank You VERY much. -
I have an '88 MJ 2.5 TBI,2wd,AX4. I took the distributor cap off and the only thing that is there is a rotor!?? Isn't there suppose to be a pick-up coil and reluctor? How does the timing advance/retard,get signal? Is this all that the distributor is made up of? There are NO wires(except plug wires and coil wire) coming from the distributor. I am VERY confused. Thank You for any help I can get. -Lance

I am removing the factory flares on my '88 MJ and have broken a few of the studs. Are they the same as the XJ? I mean the entire flare. I can always weld studs back on,but I think I want to get some white flares and make it more color coordinated. Thanks -Lance

You guys are right it is totally overkill for what I am going to do. I am going to use my MJ for camping and fishing with my son(s). I have never been "wheelin" so to speak. I have been off road rain and in a friends FAST prerunner Chevy. I have also been muddin. I just plan to build my truck the strongest I can...do it right the first time, for my intensions. Since mine is 2wd I also like to entertain the HOT ROD MJ thought. 4.6,beefed AW4,D44 detroit 4.10's,15x4-15x8 centerline tellstars, cowl induction hood,etc...but those are pipe dreams. -Lance
-
WOW, didnt mean for this to turn into a pissin match over c-clips.Sorry. Well, now I have stumbled onto another option....a 9"! I have a friend that owns an Off Road fab shop and has a new FAB 9 housing just lying around ! He has the jig to set up the ends and make it the length I need...and has the disc brake mounts! Now lets here some thoughts?! -Lance
-
Newer style:Intake,M/C and booster, and power steering pump/resevior(sp?),and relocated washer bottle....?
-
Yeah I plan on rebuilding mine w/a detroit locker,4.56's and some nice axles,seals/bearings,oh and yes disc brakes. I figured if I can 350-400 for the XJ D44 I will be happy. -Lance
-
Well, I picked up 2 Dana 44's yesterday, one for my MJ and another for an XJ. So I will probably sell the XJ axle to fund more for my project :D .
-
It's my understanding that the 8.8 is 5/8" shorter on each side, but that is not a problem either as I can use billet spacers to make the front and rear track width the same. I have also found several waggy D44's for cheap. I am not planning on 'thrashing' on my jeep. I still have to drive it daily, but I do want to build it strong the first time....never know what tomorrow brings! I just didnt know if it would be worth the $200 and have to rebuild it. Thanks -Lance
-
Would it be worth $200 for an MJ D44 w/3.07 limited slip? Or should I wait for a 50% off sale and grab a Ford 8.8 w/3.73 or 4.10's?(and of course disc brakes) Thanks -Lance
