  1. Thanks all! Gonna start with the grounds I think. Here in sweden they had to add extra orange turn signals below the tail lights. So there is some extra wiring that is probably spliced toghether with ductape, if I know the PO right..... Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
  2. Hi By flasher module you mean the relay? Or is there another thingy involved? The relay is probobly a couple of years old. If I remember right I changed the original round one for a modern square generic flasher relay. Mechanically the stick seems to work fine. But since its 30+ years my suspicion is bad connection of some sort in the switch. Been looking a bit closer at it, don't think I can do much without ripping the column apart..... Done that a couple of times, its a real pain... /mathias Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
  3. Hi I'm having some random turnsignal problems. Sometimes it won't turn on when blinking right. Left works fine, and its sticks when pushing down and goes back with the steering wheel. It just won't blink. Anyone had any luck with cleaning the switch WITHOUT dissasembling the column? Its such a pita.... /mathias Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
  4. Starter relay, fusable links, ignition connector? Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
  5. Thx guys Think I will put the junkyards on and try them out. /Mathias Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
  6. Hmm, wonder what kind of springs the junkyard sent me.... Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
  7. Hi I found a pair of zj coils in the junkyard. They measure 15,15 inches. Does anybody have the height of the stock springs on a -87 metric mj? /Mathias Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
  8. I have also had the the same symptoms. It turned out to be a bad ignition switch, have u checked that? Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
  9. Glad u found the problem. Tracing gremlins around the starter relay is pita. /mathias Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
  10. I would suggest checking the links at the starter relay. On my truck there is also a 40 amp fuse on the ignition switch to starter relay wire. don't know if that is default or if PO put it there. But if that blows I get a no crank. Might be a bad igition switch. /mathias Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
  11. Well, In lack of other ideas I thought I would take a look at the ignition switch. And of course that was the problem, probobly from the beginning. The brown wire was all burned and corroded. Bought a new one for 20 bucks and voila, she lives again. And I even got the acc mode working aswell. Should have looked there in the first place I think..... Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
  12. And according to this pic The ETR is radio and clock. Eng comp lights have never worked, I have no fog lights, and I can live without the clock and radio. Now, beeing a noob at this, is it safe to just unhook these three wires and try to see if the problem goes away? /Mathias Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
  13. So I think I have identified the three wires as being, fog light relay, hood light and ETR fuse. According to this pic Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
  14. Ok, after having changed the starter and put in a new battery the problem seemed to have gone away....so I thought. Until today, once again the fuse blew. This time I put in a new one and it blew right away. Short to ground was my thought and very much so, the positive nut on the starter relay was shorted to ground. Took off all of the wires and tested them one and one. Narrowed it down to one of the green fusable links. Now I'm not very good att reading the electric charts, and my cable finder don't want to send a signal anymore!? If anyone know where the the green fusable link with three red wires coming in to it goes, its the only link that has three red ones going in to it. This is the culprit, one of these red ones is shortet to ground, it seems intermittant since if I check contituity from the fusable link to ground, it don't send a tone all the time but gives 130 on the multimeter. Got a really blurry picture of it but like I said, its the only one with three red ones connected to it. If anyone know where these three go, it woud be much appriciated. / Mathias Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
  15. A thought tho. The fuse is on what I suspect the signal cable from the starter relay to the solenoid. You mean it draws from there? because there is no fuse on the cable from the battery to the solenoid. /mathias Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
  16. Thank cruiser, I was hoping you had some insight[emoji106] Yes, was a lot of oil on it. Should I take it out again and check how much it draws? Can I open it up and clean it? Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
  17. Hey guys I am really stuck on a problem. It started last night, drove the car fine all day, multiple starts and stops. Pull over at work to get something, come out 5 min later, no crank, no ignition, nothing. Charged the battery the night before, so I know thats good. At last I found a 40 amp fuse thats inline on a green cable to the positive nut on the starter relay. Thats the culprit. It keeps going, its fine as long as I turn ignition on, but when I turn to crank it blows. Took out the starter today thinking it might be the solenoid thats shorted. Cleaned everything and tested it with jumper cables. Works great. Put it back togheter, ones again the fuse blows. One thing ive noticed is that the fuelpump don't come on when I turn the key? Another symptom that Ive had for a while (or at least 6 months) is that whenever i crank the engine the starter moves then has a hiccup, it stops for half a scond then moves again. I was thinking it might be the starter giving up, but it tested out fine, unloaded though. Now I'm thinking its something with the cables from the steering column? Or could it be that the starter relay is bad. Did test continuity on the relay, all connections seem fine, plus, negative, fuel ballast aso. One thing i noticed was that i get contiuity from the plus nut to ground on battery, is that normal? Sorry for the long post, really don't know where to go from here. /mathias Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
  18. Found this interesting page in my quest to solve the problem: http://startersolenoid.net/starter-solenoid/#c2 Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
  19. Could there be a short in the starter. Know that I think of it, the starter has had some hiccups lately. It turns over then stops fo half a sec then turns over and starts. Or could it be the starter solenoid. Gonna start by checking all connections. After soccer practise...... Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
  20. Ah, was to fast. Changed and, got ignition working, just heard the starter click, then it blew again. Must be a serious short somewhere..... Anyone know if this fuse is stock, bcs someone just filed off a piece of the fuse legs and slid it in a pair of yellow flat sockets[emoji33] Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
  21. Ah was just about to post, found the culprit. Seems there is a 40amp main fuse, hooked up to what I think is the starter solenoid?. It was blown, might just make it to soccer practise, lol Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
  22. Hi Guys Got a really odd issue here. Drove the car fine all day, then parked it at work for 5mins, come out, turn key, nothing hapends. And I mean nothing, no humming from fuelpump, no crank, radio, fan, nothing comes on. Battery is ok, all my aux lights work and I just charged it. All main battery cables are fine. Could it be something with the ignition switch in the column? Ignition switch ground or something Really don't know where to start. Oh, and I need to pickup the little ones at soccer practise in 15 min[emoji33] Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
  23. Thanks Eagle, gonna try and get my hands on a new relay. Seems much less work then chasing down the ground issue. At least for now... [emoji106] Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
  24. Since I bought the car I have had a ground problem somewhere causing the fast blink. Looking at all of the sockets trying to fix it. Think I have narrowed it down to some aftermarket blinkers that PO put on the front side fenders. Probobly because of some law here in sweden. It is a real pain to get to them, so ive just ignored the fast blink. All of the lights work though so its not really a problem, just annoying. Do anyone know if there you can put in a different relay that does not react to the ground issue? /mathias Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
  25. Yes, what made it melt... my guess is a bad connection. Someone has been tampering a lot with the wires around the fusebox. I found a whole lot of different wire connectors and odd splices under there. It was a black wire that had snapped. Thanks for the input everyone[emoji106] /mathias Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
