  1. So lucky for me it was the oil pressure gauge line. The PO decided to route it through the exhaust manifold. Of course it melted. So after an hour of waiting in the car park for my friend to give me a ride. I was up and running again. Sent from my SM-N915V using Tapatalk
  2. Well, I'm not sure yet what happened. My engine decided to throw up all its oil into the bay and onto the ground. Now I'm stranded at the gas station and it's starting to rain.
  3. Well the weld I put on the hinge broke off. So I'm at it again. Can't I just leave it like this... lol while I have it off I should seriously consider the "removable door" mod.
  4. No worries on the delete pully. I found a video about converting it into an air compressor. Also I got the passenger floor buttoned up today. Been sick, so I havn't been keeping up. I'll take some fully finished pics tomorrow. I welded in the patches and then sealed them with silicone adhesive. Still havn't heard anything about which oil pan gasket I need... any ideas?
  5. Sorry i havn't posted in a while. I've been working on other things. I did start on the floor panels. Here's the driver side. Didn't look too bad. I sanded and grinded away all the surface rust. Repainted useing ruberized undercoating. I also cut away all the carpet foam. I think it's sole purpose was to hold water against the metal. Then I moved on to the passenger side. Which was a little worse. Only one hole. In the front left corner. Doesn't look like it's going to be fun to patch. I have this side about half cleaned up. The sanding wheel I was useing on my drill broke and I havn't bothered to fix it yet. I'll try to post an update when I finally finish. After replacing the transmission filter and fluid I have a leak. So I'll have to remove the pan and try to figure out what happened.
  6. Finally got the bolt out. Had to pull the ac compressor. Is there a delete pulley for that or can I just get a smaller belt? It looks like someone broke a bolt on the other side and tried to repair it. I ended up having to widen both holes and re-tap them. It turned out well in the end. I finally painted the intake. I'll have to grab some pics tomorrow.
  7. Does anyone know what oil pan gasket goes on my truck? It has 14 bolts and lifts in the front and back. I've looked everywhere but can only find 16 bolt and 12 bolt gaskets. A link to one would be greatly appreciated. TIA! :) Sent from my SM-N915V using Tapatalk

Not sure about the rear or transmission. It's a 3 speed auto though Engine: 2.8l V6 Status: running and being worked on Current Owner: me, Daniel Hall Location: Jacksonville, TX Notes: I have no real history of this vehicle. The previous owner was a young man with no real automotive experience. Maroon interior. Looks to be all stock.
  9. Also I replaced the headlights.
  10. I don't have a complete picture of the front end before I started. but, here it is in pieces. And as she sits now... I have: Rebuilt the steering box Replaced the center link Replaced the bushing on the sway bar Swapped the front differential fluid Removed the vacuum from the cad and built in an always locked system did a redneck front alignment until I can do it properly Cleaned what I could and greased all joints
  11. So here's a side by side of the engine bay so far And where she stands now. Still have more to do In the bay, I have: Removed the ac compressor and lines Removed the charcoal box to make room for a second battery. Removed all unnecessary vacuum cans and hoses. Replaced and rewired the alternator, battery pos and neg lines Painted the bay, radiator, behind front grill, brake booster, master cylinder, and a couple of odds and ends.
  12. Will do. I still have the front end lifted so it'll be a while before I get back there. I'll post a few pictures in a minute of the work I've done so far. Sent from my SM-N915V using Tapatalk
  13. Very nice! Also inspiring. I will definitely be following this build. Sent from my SM-N915V using Tapatalk
  14. The springs I have now seem to give a lot more than I would expect. However, I don't really have experience with this trucks ride characteristics. I'd be happy not having to replace them. If I could get away with cleaning them up and painting that would be awesome. Sent from my SM-N915V using Tapatalk
  15. Don't mind the siding. I have her parked in a weird spot so I could lift the front up. Is this some kind of helper spring? It's only on one side.
  16. Did you go with the 1280 lb or the 1700 lb?
  17. I'm guessing it's hell Creek suspension? I just want to return it to stock for now. later on I plan to put in a rough country lift. I'll take a picture of my rear end in a bit so you can see my problem.
  18. Would these replace what I have on my jeep? It's an 86 xls
  19. Not that I was aware of but it would account for the general wetness in the engine bay. I already bought the valve cover gaskets. So that's happening. :) whenever i get in there to do that ill clean everything off, repaint, drill it out and re-tap the hole. Also I have a question regarding the carburetor. Inside of it there seems to be window screen stuffed in the right side. And, in what i belive to be the carb vent there is some kind of paper. What would this be for? While removing the charcoal canister and most of the emissions items i.e. erg. I found similar forms of blockage. Between the main vacuum line and the erg, let's call it an actuator, there was a black silicone of some kind. Could have been rtv but I'm not sure.
  20. So I'm flushing radiator. because, so far everything the PO told me he did doesn't seem to have been done... ever. After emptying the system I think, let's go ahead and flush it. So I start taking off the air box so I can get to the bolts to pull the thermostat. Finding yet another present... Now I know what your thinking. Oh this guy left the bolt off but you'd be wrong. He broke the bolt off in the block.
  21. So here's the steering box ripped apart. I already put it back together and reinstalled it but I'm out of power steering fluid. So I'll let you know how it went tomorrow.
  22. Ok so I looked it up. It says to mark it's position. So I guess I'll just have to keep up with the markings as I go about cleaning. Sent from my SM-N915V using Tapatalk
  23. Thanks, I picked up the haynes manual for a song online. Most of the information seems to be general automotive maintenance. I'll look again to see if there's an explanation to my question. The truck has power steering. It's got a leak in the front and bottom seal but overall seems to be good. Plus I like the challenge of rebuilding. I'll post some more pics as I move through the rebuild. Thanks again :) Sent from my SM-N915V using Tapatalk
  24. Hello, Well I started this thread in the pub under my intro. Though I thought it best to move in here. Here's a pic of the truck. Still needs some work and seeing as I had another question I'm going to just start fresh. Anyway my question is, after I rebuild the steering box. How do I align it for reinstall. By that I mean, adjust the shaft so my steering is aligned. the walk through that I'm following doesn't cover this and I couldn't find anything under steering box install on here. Anyway thanks in advance. :)
  25. Yeah, I'm pretty happy with it. Still needs some work but so far I've only found one spot of rust in the passenger floor board. So over all a good buy. Also just as an update. I replaced the alternator. Rewired and upgraded the gauge on all the alternator wires. Replaced the front sway bar bushings, and cleaned up all the po's wiring mess. Tomorrow I have to rebuild the steering box and install a new drag link. I guess I really should start a thread under another topic. :) I'll do that tomorrow as well.
