So here is what I have done so far. I topped off the fluid, it was low but not extremely low. I took for a spin, no issues. I then decided to take it for another ride later, and after I got out of the driveway, when I pushed the clutch in, there was a spinning noise. The pumped the clutch and it stopped. Happened one more time before I parked it. Was not able to bleed due to weather and not having items nor someone to assist.

So in the last week when driving at times, but not every drive, my transmission is grinding when shifting gears. Seems to happen the most with 3rd gear, and mostly downshifting. Also seems to happen after being on a the highway and not changing gear for a long period. But could also just be that's how my recent driving have been. Yesterday it happen, and then when I stopped at a light I wasn't happen to get into any gear. I pumped the clutch a couple times and then I was able to shift. And had no problems the rest of the drive. I did change the Transmission fluid back in Sept with Regline 75w90. And yes I have the dreaded Ba tranny.

1. battery cables - I recently replaced my battery cables with custom cut Marine wire from http://www.genuinedealz.com/ Total was about $50 shipped, Plenty of options on colors etc. Love my Marine terminals. Got the lengths needed from another site. I know on Crusiers tips he has a company listed to order from as well. I would also recommend adding a Headlight harness (also in Cruisers tips) at the same time.

I have not experienced any rubbing myself since I changed to these tires. However, it is not my daily driver, tires have been on less than a year. I have taken sharp turns etc. though.

Thats the only pic I had at work, if you want one from the front or back let me know and I will take this evening.

I recently put 235/75R15 Goodyear Wrangler's I got on Ebay on my 87 with the same rims you have.. No issues at all.

Ok thanks, Yeah I was considering it just being Warped as well. The one different clip I picked up at a Yard as it was missing. But clamps pretty firm.

Greetings all. When I first got Ole Red, I checked the Air filter and noticed it was sagging down into the filter box. I assumed (always a mistake for me), that PO must have gotten a filter that was a little too small. So I got a stock size replacement (CA3901) and put it in. Seemed to line up ok. I checked the air filter today to see how it was looking and it was sunk. Basically it is long enough but the sides could be a bit wider for support to keep it from sinking. So, now I wonder do I have a non stock filter box? I tried to kinda search around for a wider filter of the same length and found this one Spectre Performance HPR3901 for 20 bucks. :(

Got it back in last night, highly recommend doing one at a time as I did have it backwards.

So was feeling motivated today after getting my Serpentine belt replaced thought I would tackle the Wiper bushings today. Had no problems until I went to put the linkage back in and I can not get the dirviers side to come back up through the holes lined up. It is up against the back metal. I tried several times taking it out and putting it back in to get it aligned and finally I gave up for the night. The passenger side comes up right and can get the motor mount bolt hole close to ligned up but just can't get the drivers side. Wondering what I am doing wrong. Anyone else ever have this problem? Thanks

Changed the belt today, and cleaned the pulleys, and no more noise. Thanks!

Ya, I am going to change the belt. Nothing else is working and I can't take the noise.
-
Well the balancer is brand new, was replaced in the last 2 weeks. By sight the pulleys look level. Belt seems in line but how do I double check if level? I found a temp fix to the noise, but want to make its not a deeper issue other than the antifreeze getting on the belt. Google has told me that alone can be the cause. Thanks again for all input.
-
It is embarrassingly loud!!! I sprayed with water and it goes away. Soon as belt dries it is back. It is tight, and was looked at when changed water pump etc. and was in good condition.
-
Ok, I will check the tension. The pulley is new, as is the water pump and Harmonic balancer.

Thank you all for your Help, no leak on this install. Very much appreciate it. However, now my belt is chirping very loudly. My guess is it is from the Anti Freeze leaking on it. Anything I can do for that, or should I just replace the belt?

:fs1: Sooooo.... I again installed a new Housing, found the crack in the first new one as yes I over tighten. Got a new one this morning.. The face on the motor was clean and feels smooth. I used a razer to remove any gasket and rtv left behind. Put it on, made sure I didnt tighten much. I do not have a torque wrench small enough, but maybe i need to invest. It was clean and smooth, dry and I wiped good with brake cleaner. Went to hunting land, came back 4 hours later. Added antifreeze and its dripping from the bottom again without even stating the engine. I used a felpro gasket with a light coat of permatex #2. Only thing I can guess is the face on the motor is not even? Should I go over it with a file? I am no mechanic except on computers but I feel I did everything right this last time. :hmm:

Yeah, so much for attention to detail. I did inspect the housing and didnt see any cracks but I will look again this go round. Thanks Again.

TY Hornbrod, I got under the truck and saw it, had to go get one of pickup magnets and got the bolt. Now, I put the housing on, and when I filled up with Anti freeze without even starting the engine I saw it dripping from the bottom of the housing. Sigh. My only thought is that since I didnt drain the anti freeze this time, there was a slow drip on the bottom of the opening where the tstat goes in. I wiped it several times but was still a slight drip and I thought nothing of it. But now wonder if that is the cause of the leak now. I did start the engine and it is not spewing out the side like it did before, just a steady drip from the bottom. Man this thing is kicking my butt!

So in taking off the housing this time, I drop the bottom bolt, saw it, tried to grab with fingers and it fell again. And now I can not see it anywhere. Spent at least 45 mins looking. How worried should I be where it ended up, should I just get a new bolt or start removing things like the fan so I can see and feel around more for it? I beleive from research I can use a 5/16" x 1" bolt as a replacement

Thanks, I will try that this evening!

Hello again, So I finally got around to changing my thermostat. Now I can not seem to get the housing sealed or when putting the housing on the thermostat is coming out of place. this was my second attempt, after my first attempt I bought a new housing thinking the old one may have been warped etc. However, after getting installed last night it is still leaking badly out the side. First time I only used a Gasket (felpro), second time I used the same gasket and Permatex #2. Any advice, tips or possible things I could be doing wrong? Thanks in Advance.
