Do you think I can get away with running short arms? Or do I need to go long arm with the amount of lift on it? Yes I will install proper bump stops, thinking about getting some ACOS to replace that lift puck. Driveshafts? What the welds aren't suppose to look like that? Yes I agree they need a good looking at, I see me talking with Tom Woods soon. My goal for the truck is a dual purpose rig both trail & street. I am going to leave the tire size that is on it and build the rig around them. I don't mind cutting the fenders and already plan on it. Will be getting some aftermarket flares at some point. It rides like a buck board wagon if you've ever had the pleasure. I knew new arms were a must when I bought it just not sure what I need. Long or short? I'm not sure how it mounts but it will be coming off as soon as I can get a winch bumper for it. Then I'll be looking for a new home for it.

Yep some serious corners were cut on setting up this truck. So let me ask the collective here, based on the info I have shown what would be the first thing you fixed? And how and why? What would you fix next? I'd just like some ideas as what I should do. Thanks in advance.

Well after over sleeping and getting my kid to school late I finally made it over to pickup my Comanche. And now it is home just waiting for me to work on it. Most of this work I do on it this winter will have to be done over at my sons house. As it is too cold outside to work on it at my place and the garage is taken up with my TJ. At home still sitting on the trailer. A 2-3" lift puck? Still running the stock arms. Pounded the rear of the wheel well for clearance. Ford 8.8 LP D30 YA Sway Bar is going to need attention.

MJ Junkie No worries dude and you only had the tip of your foot in your mouth. I took no offense to any thing said I just get tired of peeps assuming that I have a unlimited Visa I use for my toys. I just decided to use my funds to build my toy.if you knew all the stuff in my TJ you'd really think I had money.stick around and see what I do to this MJ.it should be interesting.

Well if that Gladiator in your Avatar is yours then your might rich too. They don't come cheap. Offended no, but did you read how I got my money? I got it the hard way and I've got a hole in my leg to prove it too. So it burns my @$$ a little when folks try to peg me as something I ain't.

I'm just an over paid bum. I sit around all day watching TV, yaking on the computer & my daughters personal driver.

Well all the mods to my TJ were paid for with combat pay from when I was in Iraq. My Jeep was my home physical therapy project. I had been in a bed for 4 months and couldn't walk during that time. So building my TJ made me get up every day and go out to the garage and work for 6-8 hours. I know that doesn't sound like a lot but for someone who hadn't been able to be active it was. Now being on a fixed income makes it harder to afford everything I'd like to do to this truck.

So because I have ARB lockers in my TJ I must have a lot of money? I guess if that is how you judge wealth then I do. /

Congrats and Semper Fi. I did 14 year active duty then got out and missed it so joined the guard. Got activated in 2003 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Rolled into Iraq on 1 April 2004 and then got flown out on a medevac on 19 Oct 2004. Was medically retired from the Army on 10 June 2006 which was 27 years 11 months 20 days from the day I had joined the Army back in 1978. I was either active duty or National Guard all that time. So thank you for your service and stay safe.

Yep that is what I said too when I called about it. I of course didn't pay asking price. And I have already been looking at AX-15 trannies to swap into it. Be one of the first things I do as I am not a person who likes to wait for known junk to break. Instead I'd rather fix it when I want as it is easier than doing it on the trail or side of the road.

Pete, Thanks again. Can't wait to see what I can do with the Comanche. It is going to have to stay more street friendly than my TJ though. Outlaw, I was talking to my company in Iraq in that pic. I was the unit's 1SG and we had just had a change of command ceremony. And I was just putting out some info and doing a little butt chewing too. This was in 2004. I was wounded in Oct 2004 got shot by friendly fire and a end to my military carrier.

I've got to ask "WHY?" Why do you want to use a flag as a headliner? Seems to me there are tons of other types of cloth that could be used. But that is just me.

Thanks Pete I've had the J.E.E.P. affliction now for about 40 years. My Grandpa had a flatty and then a CJ5 that he would take me camping and hunting in as a kid. That got me started and I just kept on liking and wanting Jeeps. If I had more parking space and tons of money I'd have all kinds of Jeeps in my driveway. My current other Jeep is a 1997 TJ Wrangler SE model but it isn't an SE anymore. I swapped in a Dodge 5.9 (360) Magnum V-8 & 4speed auto tranny. Also a STaK's 3 speed transfer case with a Ford HP44 front and a Tera Flex CRD60 in the rear. The front I narrowed to Waggy width. Running ARB air lockers in both axles. It is torn down in the garage right now as I am rebuilding the engine and adding a stroker kit to it which will make my V-8 a 408 ci engine when I am done.

Howdy all, You don't have a new member area so I hope this is where I should be posting this. If not then please move it to where it should be at. So I have looked at Comanche's now since they were brand new and always said I'd own one someday. Well my daughter is 13 and going to be driving herself soon so I needed another rig plus I wanted a second vehicle so when and if my Dodge is getting worked on I have something to drive. I found a 1989 Comanche for sale on a lot a couple hours from my house. The first time I called about it had a deposit on it so I had to wait to see if it sold or not. Well I text the dealership yesterday and found out it wasn't sold. So today I called them back and put a deposit on the truck. Just can't pick it up until 1 Dec. So I've got to get my trailer ready to tow over and pick the rig up. It has a short arm lift and 35" tires on it right now. Has had a 8.8 axle installed in the rear and some butt ugly bumper w/stinger on the front. I'm sure it is going to need some work but that isn't a problem. So what do you all think? Tell me all the good and bad. I know one of the first things I want to do is get a long arm kit on it. And then a bumper with a winch. I really want a rear bumper with a tire carrier & fuel cans. I know I'll be getting to use my new welder and plasma cutter a lot. Which makes my just as happy as a pig in a mud hole.
