  1. Death valley, CA:)
  2. OK. So dash pulled, but I ended up with about 6 plugs that weren't plugged in and I have no idea what they are for. Help if you can please. These 3 where hanging down near the passenger side foot well. I believe the one on the left is an old speaker wire set.... These 4 were behind and a little below the gauge cluster on the right hand side all empty.... These two were behind the gauge cluster, but on the left hand side. Thanks for the help, you've all.been awesome.
  3. AND!!!!...... The floors are in phenomenal shape!!! Thank you California!! One 3" round spot with barely any surface rust, other than that they look brand new...dirty like the rest of the truck, but new.
  4. Well the dash is out....wasn't as bad as I thought, just time.consuming removing all the components.
  5. So I am looking into going and getting this Comanche, waiting for answers from the owners, but if any of you can tell. Any idea what year this is? Looks clean, has a good bumper on it, hopefully good tires and such Going to try and get some parts and then some.money back off this one....orrrr maybe it'll become the main build. Dunno yet. But yea if any of you have an idea what year this is would be awesome.
  6. Haha that's one way of doing it if you don't have access to a welder. Might have to employ that way until I get the money to buy one.
  7. Would you look at that....it does have a connection in the back of the cluster....huh....completely missed that when I yanked it....must not have been clipped in very well since it didn't give me ANY fight. Where does it mount to down below? Trans? The upper part of the dash just bolts into the fire wall and kick panel frames correct?
  8. Yea but I don't remember a plug in the back of the cluster....newer clusters are all electronic aren't they?
  9. Hmmm it wasn't hooked up. Does that mean someone has put a newer dash in? This is my gauge cluster that was in it.
  10. Alright. Will pull the carpet and check out the dreaded floor boards later today after work and start figuring out how this dash comes out....I've never done one before....this might be interesting.
  11. Alright This is behind the gauge cluster....what in the world of mjs is that blue hose with the white fitting on the right hand side?!?!?!
  12. Oh look. THERE IS A MOTOR under all that dirt... Reference first post
  13. Tear down and bath time
  14. I'll probably try to find a donor xj. Like I said I believe I have access to a 01. I might just have to push to get it. In other news....while I'm collecting parts I figured I'd start ripping on the interior and doing what I can until then. Pictures to follow
  15. Best way to go about finding one to just search the junkyards? If anyone finds one within a couple hundred miles of death valley please let me know. I'm a little remote and getting to junk yards in tough for me.
  16. All great information thank you. Sounds like I need to plan on dropping a couple hundred pounds in the back...it'll help with traction anyway since I do mostly rock crawling out here in Cali....I'm sure I'll net more than 5.5 probably as the rear leafs that are in it are probably factory ones and their are darn near flat....
  17. Question for you all. Don't.mean to highjack ur thread. If I buy the 1700lb spring pack. And do a SOA, will I be netting more than 5.5". Or will the 1250lb and a SOA be less than or right at 5.5". If anyone knows that would be great thank you. Also if I get 6.5 in lift coils for the front will I need to go to long arms?

  19. Just a couple of questions for you Mj pros out there. 1) what is the best axle to put under the rear if doing it on a budget, plan on going SOA, would like to do a limited slip and disk breaks in the rear, but eventually will be putting arbs in front and rear 2) what years and up do I need to be looking for a Dana 30 without the cad axle lock. 3) for a mild lift, 3-4.5in keeping short arms. What brands have you all had good luck with for replacement rear leaves with the SOA? I know doing the SOA nets 4.5-5.5 in of lift in the rear. 4) how hard is it to swap to a newer dash setup from a 99+ xj as well as door panels and windows and such? Do the doors from a newer xj fit on a 90 Mj? Thanks for the advise. If any of you have links or thread links on here I can reference for things like the SOA build and interior swaps I'd appreciate it so I know where to find em.
  20. Is that the new spring or the stock under equipped spring?
  21. Got her running!!! Pulled fuel pump after not hearing anything from jumping it....nasty screen and all rubber was coming apart....unfortunately the pump I bought doesn't work. Anyone know what part number and where I can go to get one that fits a 90? To get it running I beat the bejesus out of the old pump, got it spinning, rewired it because all the connectors were breaking. Built a new screen for the bottom and put it back in. Replaced the fuel filter which I could barely blow thru....and with a couple primes of the key and one no start, it fired right up!!!. Missing on one cylinder and leaking some.fuel from the number 2 injector, new wires, plugs, cap, rotor, coil, spark plugs and upgraded injectors ordered.
  22. Yea I know it only runs for a second after the key is turned. Just hard to do it. I will prolly take a little ATV battery I have and just unplug it and run jumper wires to see.
  23. Once I get the motor started I'll be able to move forward a lot faster. Having fuel delivery issues right now....going to pick up a pump shortly... Plan right now is to make it a decent wheeler. I have a built 95xj but my dad mostly drives it. Wanted a Mj for a longggg time and at 600 bucks I couldn't say no. Thinking 3-4 In of lift, probably 31s for the time.being as I have an old set. Will prolly bump to 33s when I buy new tires. Planning on a arb locker in the rear and eventually one in the front. Contimplanting doing the 99+ front end swap and interior as well. Have pretty easy access to a blown complete 2001. Biggest thing is.going.to be getting it started first....then moving on.
