  1. I have an 86 Comanche 2.5L standard on the floor, 2WD. Non tilt column, no cruise control or intermittent wipers. My issue is the Steering Column Upper Lock Housing Cover without Tilt. The one I have is broken internally above the cam gears, a piece of plastic broke off. When you turn the key it is extremely hard to rotate to the start position. The garage here in Northern NY recommends replacing the entire column with a used one that's fine but, pricey. Parts wise I haven't been able to locate a manual upper lock housing cover only automatics. I have searched the site and found a thread stating 94 and below columns would work. Most talk about tilt columns. Looking for feedback. I don't have pics.
  2. OK from the files of should have known better but did it anyway. I jump started my riding lawn mower with my Comanche and now the alternator idiot light stays on. It's been like this 6 weeks now and with winter approaching i'm gonna fix it. My question in jumping my mower what did I damage that caused the idiot light to illuminate and how do I repair it?
  3. My gas gage stopped working until I added an additional ground wire from the dash to the area above the parking brake. It now works fine.
  4. I have the same problem. The radio works fine when not moving but as soon as I start driving it cuts in and out. Disconnecting the antenna has no effect. CD's play fine. Seems like when I turn right the cutting in and out stops, accelerating increases the cutting in and out. When I brake it ends the cutting in and out. I have cleaned the grounds which did fix three problems. 1) the gas gauge now works 2) The buzzer for key in ignition works 3) overhead light turns on when driver door opens. The last two where fixed when I cleaned the door switch. I have had this problem since I bought this truck and just live with it.
  5. I need the bedside brackets and bolts that the tailgate support arms attach to and the tailgate latches to when shut.
  6. Never, it visual looks ok and is not cracked or carbon tracked. I have 132.000 on the original drivetrain.
  7. Here in NNY I have a stock 86 MJ 2.5 4sp. The problem it misfires when wet/damp in the mornings. The misfire goes away when it warms up. My fixes so far checked the pinch seam and resealed it (it was leaking), checked for leaking clutch fluid damage there is none. resealed all rubber plugs that go thru the firewall. Each fix I thoght would solve the problem but not yet so I am reaching out for suggestions any Ideas?
