From what I have read about the swap to a full gauge cluster, the tach is "plug and play", but mine doesn't work at all. All the other gauges work and I have swapped out the 2 sending units. The cluster came out of a 89 XJ and is now in my 89 MJ so I know it is compatible. Is there something I am missing or something I should check?

Where can I buy an EGR tube?
bighause replied to bighause's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The dealer by my house wanted $95 for a new one :fs1: Sinkrun - That would be great if you have a used one, I'd rather not go to the JY and have to fight with another one that is rusted into the manifold. Let me know what you want for it. -
I replaced my badly cracked exhaust manifold last night and the egr tube would not come loose from the old exhaust manifold. In the 2 hour process of trying to get it loose it eventually broke and I can't just plug the holes since it has to pass emissions. So, anyone know who sells new EGR tubes for an 89 4.0 Renix comanche?

How do I know what year these gauges came out of?
bighause replied to bighause's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm not set on either one to tell you the truth, just figured I'd mess with you a bit. I'm probably going to wait on the freebee that someone offered up earlier so bid away. -

Thanks for the help, I didn't even catch the broken tab. I would personally like this style cluster better, can I find this one for a renix MJ or were they only 91+? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jeep-Che ... 2ea973012f -

Rusty's or Rocky Road shocks?
bighause replied to bighause's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Despite the bad press on the 2 companies, I have had only great experiences with them both and will continue to due business with them. Their shocks are nearly the same price as the "cheap" Monroe's that others here use on their trucks. I agree OME makes great stuff, my Liberty has OME shocks and springs, but it is my daily driver. I'm not spending $300 on shocks for my $1200 beater Comanche that might see 1500 miles a year. I'm looking for PERSONAL experience on the 2 shocks, not what you have heard about one of the companies. If you have run one of these two, let me know what you think about them please. -
After searching for an hour or so on this site about shocks, I've decided to skip the Monroe shocks and either order from Rusty's or Rocky-Road. What good or bad things do you have to say about the 2 or are they pretty much he same thing? They are within $20 of each other, so price isn't an issue. BTW, I have about 5" of lift with stock mounts front and rear. Thanks for the advice.

Where did you but your new manifold and how well did it fit? I am considering buying one of the following manifolds, they might even be the same brand for all I know. http://www.partsgeek.com/gbproducts/BN/ ... I am replacing the trashed interior in my new to me MJ and I need the all the trim pieces from the door opening back. They don't have to be perfect, let me know what you have. I'm located in DFW TX and I don't mind paying to ship them if needed.

Sorry about that, forgot there are 2.5L versions out there. I need one for a 4.0L, I'm located in DFW, TX

Mine is cracked (imagine that). Let me know if you have one for sale that is not cracked. Thanks, Kevin

I have seen lots of threads where people convert 2wd MJ's to 4wd and it seems pretty easy with all the right donor parts. How hard is it to swap in an entire 6cyl drivetrain (engine, tranny, & xfer case) in to a 4cyl 2wd truck? I found a clean truck in the area for a cheap price but wanted to get an idea what I would be getting into first. Thanks for the help.
