Need help- crossmember won't line up

Ax15 mount and crossmember -
88 longbed ba10/5 swap to an ax15 from a 97 xj. Everything has bolted up like it is supposed to, but now I have to get the ax15 crossmember in and it won't line up. I'm using the rear set of holes in the frame and all but the stud line up more or less. Any ideas?

Had it machined down to just over an inch and it fits perfect didn't take to much to press it in. So now I just have to finish up with the swap
-
Well I figure there's a machine shop on campus so I might as well take advantage of it and have a professor turn it and take off the few thousands that's needed. And while I wait on that I'm getting everything else done
-
Thanks. I just looked into it some more the dorman part number is close to the pioneer part, but neither will match up. I went and measured the 2 and the OD of the bearing that came out of the mj was 1.005"

Unfortunately i don't have the time to wait to get another one, i can't have it sitting in the way taking up lab space at school for another few days. how did you get a tj bushing to fit Blue XJ? Arent the sizes different for the renix to the newer 4.0?
-
Okay...thanks for the information but I already knew that the input shaft is larger on the new transmission
-
Normally I would agree, but with as far off as it looks, it seems like a bad idea
-
Yes i know that it is, problem is that right now it is in my toolbox in a locked building. Yes the inner diameter fits the input shaft of the AX-15 and yes i have the outer part of the old pilot bearing that went with the BA 10-5 i just wanted to see if there was some trick to getting it in before i bring it down to the machine shop and have it turned down to match the old one. What do you mean the wick?? Thanks for the reply
-
i don't have a caliper with me but the shipping paperwork says .756 x 1.056
-
It came out of a 96 or 97 and the input diameter changed whenever it switched to an external slave I think. And the dorman part is for a v8 cj so that's why I'm confused as to why it doesn't fit

So I'm in the middle of swapping out the BA 10/5 for an AX-15 and came across a slight issue.....i went to but the new bushing in ( Dorman part# 690-042) and...it doesnt fit. So before i send it down to the machine shop at school to get cut down is there something I'm missing??

About 2 months ago i purchased my first Comanche a pretty well beat up 1988 pioneer 4.0 5 speed with about 180k. The engine is still going strong and spewing oil as expected of a 4.0 Unfortunately it currently has the BA 10/5 transmission that is slowly $#!&ting the bed, no reverse and virtually no fifth gear, but i have an ax-15 almost ready to be swapped in Electrical wise the thing is a mess. Slowly doing what i can to get it in the shape it should be. Image Not FoundImage Not FoundImage Not FounduImage Not Found

i hadnt planned on swapping anything in the case but the input shaft so the original t-case would fit the ax15, i figured that would save me some money and time . I wasnt sure if that would even work thats why i wanted to check here first to see if someone had done it. also thanks Rockfrog for the information
-
so pretty much i would be better off taking the 3 hours and pull the input shaft from the new one ans swap it into the original so the speedo would work and i wouldnt have to go back and pull a driveshaft yoke
-
And sorry for asking because I'm guessing its posted on here somewhere, Xjrev10 why will the speedometer not work?
-
when i got the transmission and t-case, i got the cross member, shifter, i think the linkage for the t case and slave cylinder as well, all I'm missing is the pilot bushing (probably advanced auto), i just wanted to check to see if i needed anything else to do the swap since its my daily driver i can't have it be out of commission because i forgot a part. I've seen a few of the writeups just want to find the best write up for it.

I'm a few parts away from doing an ax15 swap on my 88, i got a trans and t-case out of a 97 xj. This may be a stupid question because i haven't had a chance to crawl under and look myself, but do i need to modify or get any parts for the newer t-case to work, since the 97 one is so much newer? thanks in advance, also what is the best place to get the pilot bushing for the swap?

I didn't see a connector for a trailer but I can check again. Also I forgot something, when signaling left my front right turn and side marker bulbs flash -
Electrical problems with an 88

The truck does not have a stereo right now so it is not that. -
1988 Jeep Comanche Pioneer that is a wiring nightmare, previous owners did really $#!&ty wiring and slowly trying to sort it out. Currently my I/P and running lights do not light up when using the switch, but the I/P lights when i hit the brake switch but not the running lights, first thought is a short, but would appreciate any other suggestions thanks.

That's what I thought, but I figured I would check since it was on Novak and if it was true it would save me about $100. And yeah that's kinda what I thought, but I'm a broke college kid trying to save some money lol.

I know that this has probably been covered more than enough times, but i'm new here and haven't found the answer yet. Recently i bought an 88 Comanche 5 speed, the previous owners didn't treat the transmission very well and now it needs to be replaced, i plan to swap in an ax-15. ive seen on multiple posts that the t-case won't work without an adapter since it has a 21 spline input, but according to Novak some years of the ba 10/5 had a 23 spline output shaft, is this wrong? if not what years had the 23 spline output the 88 and first half of the 89s? Thanks in advance and if i got anything wrong please correct me.
