  1. 4.0 preferably manual harness but I can modify an auto, 4wd
  2. sorry to ask because I'm sure its been covered plenty, but i need some suggestions. Out of nowhere my 88 4.0 will not start, it cranks over just fine and i think i have fuel pressure but no spark at the ignition coil. i did the cps test and got somewhere between .4 and .5 V not sure if thats enough to go through buying a sensor and replacing it, and i don't really have anyone to give me a hand with testing unfortunatly. what else other than the cps could cause no spark? thanks for any advice
  3. I'm looking for a renix era wiring harnesses (engine,lights,dash/cab) for an 88, any help would be appreciated thanks.
  4. Also i have the mc with the plastic slave line so i can only bleed it so much but i will try and see if it helps
  5. Well it seems like i was wrong about the fluid. Had no problem shifting until i had driven it about 20 miles and had to stop, had to force it into 1st and almost seemed like it locked out of other gears too. So dragging clutch it is, any suggestions?
  6. 1988 5 speed sorry the junkyard one is a 1988 auto
  7. Not sure if this has been answered or not but I couldn't find it, how different are the manual and automatic harnesses? is there any major differences that would not allow you to use an automatic harness in a manual truck without major modification? My mj still runs and drives but the previous owner or owners hacked at the wiring to the point of there being shotty repairs everywhere. I could rebuild the harness but that would take more time than I would like to spend or there is a junkyard fairly close to me that has an auto comanche with a harness that hasn't been hacked at. Thanks in advance for any information
  8. just curious has anyone used valvolines synchromesh oil?
  9. i was talking to some of the professors at the college i go to and they said pretty much the same thing or to even use atf in the winter so i guess 10w30 is what I'm going to use soon to see if it helps
  10. I was kind of thinking that it might be to thick of an oil, but I wanted to see what others with more experience with jeeps and manual trans thought. Not really sure what to put in it now since I don't wanna pay the price of amsoil or redline and I'm kind of hesitant to put 10w 30 in it. Also thanks for the answers and sorry about the limited information I gave
  11. Unfortunatly mine does it even if I've been driving for awhile
  12. Very well could be what it is, I just don't want to destroy it by forcing it in gear since I just put a lot of working into it swapping the ax15 in
  13. I get that it's going to be difficult when it's colder but It takes some serious force to put it in gear and I don't want to screw up the syncros . And after I put it in I never really did a flush so when it gets somewhat nicer out ill try changing the fluid
  14. When I'm moving, no it's easy to shift, no problem with up or downshifting. Just when I'm compleatly stopped
  15. It's been pretty cold here, negatives or close to it. But today has really been the only time it's acted up
  16. I recently put an ax15 in my mj to replace a shot ba10/5 and up until now it has been perfectly fine. But today and yesterday it has been extremely difficult to shift into 1st or 2nd from a stop. I don't like forcing it into first, any ideas what it is or what will fix it. Other than changing the fluid
  17. 54bobby don't think its a tire because I've never heard a bad tire cause that noise but I guess its possible. 87mjtim I'll look up a video and see if it sounds similar I'll try and post a video or audio of it sometime soon. Shelbyluvv yes I'm pretty sure I put gl3 gear oil in it, but even if I didnt and put gl4 or 5 I would think that the newer gl5 fluids would not eat the brass. And I'm not sure about it being the trans because it made it before too
  18. shelbyluv i used an atf i got from work in the t case and i think gl3 in the trans 87mjtim i think it only makes it when in gear, reving the engine up doesnt cause it. it is noticeable in higher gears but i think that is just because of the higher speed. it very well could be the trans because i got it from a junkyard but i almost think it isnt the trans or tcase because it made the noise just not as loud even before i did the swap and rebuilt the case. i had thought it could be u joints because i know at least the front drive shaft one is shot but it doesn't cause a vibration. i hadnt considered the axle thanks. jeep driver would the linkage not being adjusted actually cause a whining noise?
  19. So i recently upgraded the 5 speed in my 88 to the ax15 and rebuilt my transfer case with a newer 231, among other things there is a noise that as gotten worse. its a whine from the underside that gets louder as the speed increases, but there is no vibration so I'm not sure that it is something caused by any of the front u joint. Does anyone have suggestions as to what might be causing it? thanks
  20. Gogmorgo I don't think it is the lines but I'll give it a try thanks, and I've driven it a couple miles and it's still on unfortunately
  21. Lever on the transfer case, sorry thought I said that in the post
  22. After finishing my transmission swap my part time 4wd light has stayed on for some reason. I don't have the linkage attached for it but I pulled the lever on the t-case up as far as it would go, so I know that it is in 2wd. Any ideas what would be causing the light to stay on?
  23. Thanks Brickmiata I'll try that as soon as my truck isn't barried in snow.Rock frog unfortunately I am a poor college student so can't go that route right now
  24. Also part time cluster light is on, even though I know it is in 2wd
  25. Just finished an ax15 swap in my 88 4.0. To save myself some work and money I swapped the input shaft and kept the original t-case, but the old linkage won't work. Do I need to use the linkage that i got with the ax15. Thanks
