1990 pioneer 4.0 rebuild
Sir Jacob the 2nd replied to Sir Jacob the 2nd's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
My new pistons and rod bearing getting ready to go in, I did however reuse my rods as, looking them over all being in good shape I saw no reason to spend the extra 500 dollars or so. I went ahead and had the crank micropolished while my block got decked and bored just to dot the i's and cross the t's. Side note I went .030 over in the cylinders I think I forgot to mention that earlier. Also reused my main caps. The machine shop "lost" one in their mess of a shop. Luckily they mostly deal with performance imports, not a ton of cast iron laying around elsewhere. -

So it has been some time since I posted here last and a lot has happened so I'm going to try to catch up! So I got my block and head back from the machine shop and started the process of putting it all back together. -

Power steering pump help!
Sir Jacob the 2nd replied to Sir Jacob the 2nd's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yeah I did attempt to top it off when I noticed, however that's just about when it blew the return hose off from the pressure and shot PS fluid all over me, my house and my engine bay haha. Not a fun experience. Happened two times actually. I am interested but I think I'll see how the next reman does before I go that far -
Power steering pump help!
Sir Jacob the 2nd replied to Sir Jacob the 2nd's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yes it is a fresh reman, I have a new one on its way currently because it is the first time I had run the pump in any compactly. I had already bled the system when I started the truck. And double check cold fluid levels. I noticed that the pump immediately pushed all the fluid in the gear box and the reservoir was empty suggesting some sort of blockage through the return on the pump. Would you suggest just rebuilding the pump on my own? -

Timing issue?
Sir Jacob the 2nd replied to Sir Jacob the 2nd's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yes they are in the correct spot I believe. I will post pictures shortly -
Has anyone had issues with there pump whining excessively and the blowing off the return line at all? I have replaced the hose and the pump is brand new. After it blew off the first time I made sure to double check the hose clamps. But I feel like there shouldn't be enough pressure to blow off the return line should there?

Timing issue?
Sir Jacob the 2nd replied to Sir Jacob the 2nd's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Spot on sir, you are a gentleman and a scholar, I had the distributor 180 degrees off, so I thought I had set it properly but it wasn't aligned with the damper mark. Now I just need to figure out why my brand new power steering pump is squealing like a stuck pig and blew the return line off! -

Fuel rail/ regulator help
Sir Jacob the 2nd replied to Sir Jacob the 2nd's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That's what I was thinking but I wasn't quite sure -
Hey guys, so tonight I went to start the mj and fuel starts pouring out between the rail and the regulator, my question is are there just seals inside the end of the rail that can be replaced or is that more likely a problem with the regulator itself?

Is it possible to shorten the capillary tube that runs through the evap core? I am replacing mine and creating a hole for the tube all the way through the core is proving to be difficult.
