  1. Nevermind, got it :)
  2. So my transmission is still sitting in the driveway. We tried to get it up yesterday but we discovered a new potential problem. It seems as though fluid is leaking out of the bolts that hold the bell housing to the transmission. So if the seal between the bell housing and the transmission is bad, does anyone know what part# I'm looking for, or is this a different kind of seal all together? As much as I would love to ditch the BA10, I just can't afford an AX15 right now :(
  3. Got the trans out without breaking anything I think. We did not have a transmission jack so it was kind of a controlled free fall. I can already tell that putting it back in is going to be extra fun.
  4. Sweet. Thanks guys!
  5. Could anyone by chance break down the steps needed to remove the BA 10-5? My searches are producing conflicting results :(
  6. Thanks guys. I didn't have any time yesterday to get under the truck but I will be today so I'll find out for sure what transmission it is.
  7. Howdy ya'll. I have a few questions about the transmission on my 89 MJ 4.0L if anyone can spare the time. Last week my radiator cracked, so my Dad and I took it out and had it repaired. While it was getting fixed we decided to replace the CMC which has been leaking more and more lately. To make a long story short, we went through two of Napa's cheap pieces of aluminum junk before getting a good steel CMC. We also had to replace the hose. Well, while reattaching the hose to the Slave, it broke. So the transmission is spewing fluid when the clutch is engaged. I have been doing some searches here, so I know that I have an internal slave and that the transmission has to be pulled to replace it. So, since we have to pull the transmission we are discussing replacing the 2nd gear syncro as it is pretty hosed. So my questions: I'm not totally positive which transmission I have. I assume its Peugeot BA-10/5 but I want to make sure and my manual is long gone. (btw does anyone have a pdf version?) How can you tell? Any advice on pulling the transmission? My Dad has done this many times before but not on the Comanche, so advice would be awesome. And lastly, about the syncro's, does anyone know where I can find these or have any advice on replacing them? If there is any walkthroughs already posted that I could be directed to that would be cool - I looked but I apparently suck at searching. Thanks a bunch, Jess
  8. Hello everyone. I'm pretty sure someone here posted a Wiring/Electronic's Manual for an MJ in PDF format, may have been for an 88, I can't recall - but I know I had it before I formated my HD and reinstalled Windows... If anyone can direct me to that post, or has a an 88/89 MJ electronics manual can you post/email it? Thanks!
  9. Ahh, thanks! I ended up putting a second fuse box and rerouted a couple of the fuses that the connections had worn/broke in the original fuse box. Other than those broken ones, the fuse box is in decent shape. I would have chopped it out and rewired the whole thing on a new box (if I could find one) but I'm moving to Canada in like, 7 days, and there's to many other things to do, so this will work for now. I had a strange problem with my stereo though, every time I would use the blinker, the stereo would cut off for a second, then come back on. I'm assuming there was to much load on that circuit but I dunno. I ended up running a new power wire for the stereo into the new fuse box and it works fine - I just have to remember to manually turn off my stereo since it doesn't shut off with the car now :P Thanks for all the help.
  10. Hey thanks for checking! If you get a chance, mind checking another for me? In the 88 electical manual there is "ETR" (10) which says its for Radio, Clock. On my 89 its labeled ANT, I assume for a power antenna, which I do not have. Also, does anyone know what the "HEAD LAMP DELAY MODULE" actually does?
  11. EDIT: I updated this post with a new question so I wouldn't need to make another post. I was just curious if this is a feature, or a problem. When I'm in 4th/5th, going up a hill, or accelerating around 65-70mph, the AC/vent pretty much turns off until I back off the gas. Is it supposed to do that? (Original Post:) Does anyone have a PDF of the 89 4.0 MJ electrical manual? I have the 88 one posted here but the fuse box diagram seems to be slightly different than what I have. What I'm most concerned with right now is on the 88 Manual "MOTOR PUMP" which says is not used is labeled "FL/PASS" on my fuse box. Both leads on it are broken and if its not used I'd rather not fix it right now. Thanks, Jess
  12. I do have a manual, and I saw a couple posts mentioning this, is there a fix posted some place?
  13. I'm replacing all of the fuses in my 89 MJ, most of them are pretty corroded, some are broken in half, etc. In extracting the old fuses and spraying electrical cleaner a couple of the contacts in the fuse box broke and fell out. So I was thinking I'd attempt to take the fuse box out and do a more thorough inspection. I undid the two screws and pulled on the box a little bit to see how easily it comes out and, it didn't feel very easy. I wasn't sure if all the wires are wired into the back, or if they are wired into a plug that plugs into the box. I'm afraid to pull it out. Any advice on this? Or should I just not touch it? Everything works, or well, did work before 2 halves of the contacts poped out. I know my way around wires and electrical stuff, I just don't want to open up a hornets nest lol.
  14. I'm sure this has been discussed a thousand times, I tried searching with no luck. Can someone point me to a post about this, or just let me know? What year XJ Buckets are plug and play with an 89 MJ? I've heard 96 is the cut off year, if that's true how much modifying is required for 97-2001 XJ's?
  15. I have a 5 speed yeah :(
  16. I have an '89 4.0L which I believe has a Renix? I don't know the engines inside out yet. Whats different about it (The CC system)?
  17. Looks like the pop's and I are going to head down to the Pick n Pull soon (not sure when exactly) and take out an XJ's cruise. I'll bring my camera and take pictures for reference and I'll try to write a guide of some sort. If anyone has done it and has some preemptive advice, let me know :)
  18. whoa, that is pretty sweet.
  19. I'm wondering if anyone has come up with any cool "mods" for the clock spot. Unless I'm missing something, its pretty much a big waste of space - I don't need the clock since I have one on my stereo. I saw the post on the Projects forum about the Thermostat put in there, that was pretty cool - but I'm curious if anyone has attempted to seriously bling out that spot. I've been trying to think of stuff, but I'm coming up short. Maybe a digital Inclinometer, or compass. What I'd love to have in there is a portable media device with a big hard drive that I could plug my camera's memory cards into to unload pictures. But it would probably be more practical to get a portable media device, or a laptop:P
  20. Has anyone ripped a Cruise Control system out of an XJ and put it in their MJ? I probably won't get to it unless its much easier than I'm expecting - but I'm driving up to Vancouver, BC in August (from Sacramento, CA) and it sure would come in handy... 89, 4L
  21. Thanks JJ!
  22. I used Dynamat in our 87 Samurai awhile back, and it worked great, so I'm thinking about putting some in my MJ, however, Dynamat is kind of expensive. So I'm wondering about alternative products. Has anyone used a Dynamat-like product that might be cheaper/better? Or a place I might find more info about these kinds of products? Thanks! Jess
  23. Lol, I called the local Jeep dealer and they wanted $295 bucks for it - I'm sure dealer prices are higher than most places but, it made that 84.95 not seem so bad...
  24. damn, thanks guys. I'm surprised its that expensive, are those the only ones made or something?
  25. This is it here:
