  1. Hello Folks, I am having trouble finding a Fuel Sending Unit for a 1990 4.0 Comanche 20+ gal. fuel tank. Any leads would be appreciated. Thanks!!
  2. OK, let me be a little more specific. It is an intermittent problem. It's gone weeks without issues and then it suddenly comes back. Today for example, it was fine on the way to work but on the way home it acted up. It wouldn't shift out of 1st and into 2nd until 40 mph and wouldn't shift out of 2nd and into 3rd until 60 mph. Doesn't seem to make much difference if I am in comfort or power mode.
  3. OK guys, I need some ideas. Every once in a while my 1990 4.0 4x4 automatic seems to get stuck in a lower gear. For example It doesn't shift at 45 as usual but stays in 2nd till like 60-65. Could this be the something to do with the little transmission power button?
  4. Well...... I tried to get a new fuel pump and sender unit as the sender was leaking and in order to do the muffler... well gas leaks aren't good. 1990 Jeep Comanche Pioneer Long Bed 4.0 Automatic JC Whitney says SKU Number: 1JA 533092 Manufacturer Number: RE0302S I ordered it. Received it. Took it to Midas to have it installed along with a new muffler. They say it won't fit. Any ideas?
  5. Stainless Steel brake lines sound like an interesting idea
  6. What plastic cover? Just the 22 gallon gas tank with a couple of straps. Anybody got any pictures?
  7. So I went up to Midas to have the breaks and muffler looked at. Of course the brakes needed work and the muffler needed replacing. 1990 4.0 Long Bed Automatic. What I didn't expect was to find a lead at the fuel sending unit. Also there seem to be a few bolts and screws that indicated that there may have been some sort of skid plate around the gas tank or maybe near the gas tank to protect the fuel sending unit and hoses and wires??? Any ideas what was there??
  8. I am not expecting some major improvement in gas milage or performance. Just want to do the best I can and get the best bang for the buck. If the fancy name brand magnaflow and dynaflow and such aren't really going to add anything from a midas or napa then why bother. I want to get the best brake pads and calipers and such without getting too far away from stock components. Is there really anything too those titanium pads vs. napa or midas, etc.
  9. My exhaust is getting a little noisy. Was wondering if any of you had tried those flowmaters and other advertised high performance exhaust set ups? Any real noticeable difference? Also wondering about those advertised fancy brakes. Any of them actually worth the money with improved performance or is it all hype?
  10. I'm looking for recommendations for a new fuel pump and fuel filter for a 1990 4.0 4x4 automatic longbed. Thanks
  11. I was reading a couple of the other posts and it reminded me that my radio does come on in the acc (2nd) position of the key switch. Seems strange. Anybody else??? In fact, as I think about it, I don't think anything is activated in the 2nd position......
  12. So, other than the air horn idea ... I'm thinking about that one...lol... any body else have any suggestions on a particular brand of horn? I know there is eBay and JC Wit. Just trying to make use of others peoples knowledge and experience (other wise known as wisdom). Thanks
  13. OK so it's time to replace the horn. I've found one, passenger side, up in front of the front wheel. Did the comanche come with one or two horns? Should there be a second horn on the drivers side? Or was the horn actually originally in a different location? Suggestions for a replacement horn?
  14. How do you bleed the air pocket?
  15. Hello, I have a 1990 Jeep Comanche 4.0 Automatic Long Bed. The temperature keeps climbing into the red zone. Normal operating temp seems to be 210. I've also notice that the back of the engine block (which matches the gauge I can read in the truck) is hotter than the front of the engine block by about 40 degrees which is hotter than the sensor that plugs into the thermostat by about another 30 degrees. I had a buddy with one of those lazer temp sensors check it out. I had a 190 thermostat, it was relatively new. At this point I've put it back together without a thermostat and it seems to run cooler. It just seemed like the thermostat wasn't opening up correctly. Suggestions on the best thermostat and the temp it should open??? Any other ideas? It's an open system with a radiator that is less than 1 year old. This is one of those problems that just won't seem to go away.
  16. Would you recommend the open or closed system for my 1990 Renix. Currently the previous owner put in an open system but I've been having problems so I'm thinking about going to a closed system as was the original design.
  17. So is there any kind of agreement on what oil to run in this old trucks. 20/40 High milage or 30?
  18. I've been thinking about replacing the radiator in my 1990 4.0 Automatic. Anybody with any specific recommendations?
  19. Thanks, I am going to check out the one on ebay
  20. So Pete, When you driving over. LOL
  21. rear tail light covers; interior lights; window roll down handle (gray); a 2011 model with a v8, long bed, and tow package; ;)
  22. Hello, I have a 1990 Comanche 4.0 4x4 long bed and was hoping to find some folks out there with a similar year, engine, trans to swap information and maybe pictures with. Kind of like having two in the drive way. One to work on and one to look at and compare. rschneider@mac.com Southern California
  23. Well I broke the handle to roll up and down the driver's side window. I've got a 1990 Comanche with gray interior. Thanks Robert Schneider rschneider@mac.com
