  1. Jeep Comanche/Cherokee Full Console Installation: You need: 1) Console 2) Underdash Air Flow (deflector) 3) Brackets (optional) 4) Philips Screwdriver Underdash Air flow will take about 6 minutes to replace. No cutting needed (as noted in other forums). This is AC and Heat Air Flow, unless MJs are different than XJs. That is how AC gets to the back seats of XJs. I will know more, as I am going to install the XJ air tube for air to get to the back of the cab (see if it helps cool it down on 100+ days). 2 screws behind a (barely glued in place) black strip. Recommend removing the roughly 10 screws to the lower dash piece with the ash tray in it (possible to do without this part). ***The XJ console with the slot for the e-brake handle makes a handy cell phone holder. The floor pan will have dimples where the brackets are suppose to go if you feel you need them. (no brackets in my dad's MJ, over 6 years, no issues). Automatic: If you take your time, you won't have to remove the shift handle as the OEM instructions say to do. Nice pictures on here, but I see no actual installation pictures, just removal and finished product. Meanwhile, I am upgrading my 4x4 Comanche with a factory kit to Full Console and taking even more pictures. I will post a link later to the page I make for installing a full console. I will copy the Factory Instructions. Consoles are fairly easy to find, as most XJs had them. Only different with a factory is you get a glued on plastic where the XJ has the rubber with slit glued on. The rubber slit holds my LG phone perfectly. I found my Burgandy used one on eBay (3 auctions, used console, new black center, used lid), then 1 month later found the NOS Burgundy kit. If anyone needs a Burgundy Full Console, PM me with offers. Or even other parts you may need... Jeep Comancher
  2. Checked all grounds? (bucking real bad on 90 MJ 2wd, dirty neg cable at engine {Culprit found 4-15-13, loose wire at Fuel Pump!}) (I will be upgrading all grounds on all 3 of my 90 Jeeps...no other year ever gave me so many starting problems) Fuel Pump Resistor? Alternator tested? Read thru these: http://comancheclub.com/topic/36382-cruisers-renix-tips/ I think it may be electircal somewhere. P.S. (4-21-13) On which fuel pump, all aftermarket will have to be modified to fit. And you have to get a different filter(if it doesn't come with it). I sent all the Carquest, Napa, Crown(right length), Autozone, etc back to the stores. Of course, Chrysler sold the last one 2 weeks ago... I just bought the last ones Bosch had, they aren't sure if they will ever make more. JeepNut
  3. What to do if your cables breaks, kinda depends on where it breaks. 1) Handle breaks. Get out a pair of pliers. (Out of 10+ Jeeps, I have only had 1 handle break.). 2) At the hood hinge, pull harder, it may just be kinked. (If broken, continue to 3.) (This happened to my 90 XJ just 3 weeks ago, if the rubber-like pad is loose near the hood hinge, leave it alone, it may be keeping your cable from being crushed) 3) Anywhere else, reach as others have said, or start taking the fron panel off.
  4. If you are coming from an XJ to an MJ, accept that you not be able to make those nice tight turns anymore (without alot more speed...). The trade-off: A much smoother ride. After reading all these posts, glad I have California Jeeps. Sad for all those salted road bound Jeeps.. AMC 6 Cylinder, longest produced engine. 1964-2005. (232, then 199, then 258, then the 242...) P.S. 97-up front end, it's like they almost forgot to put a turn signal on the front clip, then slapped one on. If I had a 97-up, I'd put the older front clip on (any of the 3 or 4 versions). But then, I wouldn't want a Chrysler modified Jeep anyways, way too many extra issues...
  5. First, don't believe everything you read on here, or elsewhere. Look for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th opinions on the matter at hand. Search this and other Jeep forums. Second, buy a shop manual. For Junkyards: Row52.com My opinion: The 97-up front end is ugly, it will make your MJ ugly. My Jeep Experience: Since 1994 1988 XJ (Aunt's - sold) 1987 XJ Laredo 4WD (2nd -sold) 1987 XJ Base 4WD (first -sold) 1987 Wagoneer Limited 4WD (-sold) 1994 XJ Sport 2WD (-sold to buy 4WD 1994) 1989 XJ 4WD (-sold) 1994 XJ Country 4WD (current daily driver, for sale...) 1989 MJ @WD SB (became a parts car, bed will become my new trailer later this year) 1992 MJ 2WD LB (Dad's truck) 1990 XJ Laredo 4WD (2012 for wife) 1990 MJ 2WD (2013) 1990 MJ 4WD (2013 future daily driver) 1988 XJ (don't recall details -sold) ~Benjamin
