Well so far we have had 3 comanches are first one was rusted out when we got it. The second one had a good body but the frame kept breaking on it so we junked it. Now this is what we picked up in place of the old one. $300 :brows: The red rims look pretty cute lol I'm not sure what the old owner was thinking :shake: When we took out the bed liner we were amazed at how nice it looked. The original colour was red beleive it or not. Its an 88 4.0 litre 2WD. We picked it up just outside of spring feild maine. We finally got it painted over this past summer. We were tired of driving around in primer. It's hard to get anything done when you get up and drive it to work the next day.

hi, when you put the xj seats in did you have to switch the mounts and do they sit any higher than the original ones?

thank you for responding, we just kinda guessed and cut them about 4 inches long because thats what they are on most cars,trucks and the worked.

Hi again, were changing the parking brake cables on our mj. We picked up a couple of sets of rear universal ones with a "cut to length" spring in the kit the only problem is theres no springs left on the siezed ones. Does anyone know how long they should be?

well today i ended up buying a new bosh one from caequest i got it for 99 bucks and had to get a new sock for 10 bucks. You would think it would come in the same box as a kit but there always looking to make money.

The year and make is a 1988 short box automatic its a six cylinder 4.0. We got the tank off to night and pulled the pump out there was a slight difference in length between the two of them. Also the pumps were quite different the mj one was alot taller then the xj. The sock had a hole in it on the mj one so i don't think that helped it out much. Is there amy way to test the pump while its out of the tank to see if thats truly what it is? thanks for all the help guys. :cheers:

So the other day i went to pick up a ride on mower it was about an hour there and an hour back, truck ran like a top like comanches do when i got home i unloaded the mower then started the truck to move it and it turned over started and it started shaking and "put, put ,put.." almost like it wasnt getting gas but i had a half a tank in it though. Also the gas gauge was reading backward, like it was past the full when off but when i turned the key ahead it goes back to 1/2. The gauge started reading funnny a few months ago , when it was on a 1/4 of a tank it was almost out of gas even ran out once on us :P. I tired tapping on the tank no go. Let it sit for an hour or so then tried and it started drove into town almost got to were i was going and "put,Put,put.." i coasted into a parking lot. I replaced the fuel filter but it didnt do much for it i got it towed home. Today i went to the junk yard to get a fuel pump thought that might be it but still not sure. He only had cherokees and told me i could have it for free if i took it off my self :brows: so I'm just wondering if there the same cuz i don't want to take my tank apart and put it back together for nothing. I think the pumps off like a 1992 or so also if there is any other suggestions as to what might be the problem that would be nice to thanks.

the only thing i did was put some new bearings on the axles but it seemed to have stopped now thanks for the help :cheers:

When my comanche first starts latley it seems to be reving quite high for about 10 seconds then once u put it into drive it stops. Does anyone know what causes this? thanks.

i thought the rear end was going in mine turns out its not..the bearing on the passenger side axle was long gone. so i bought a new kit for it and put it on but there seems to be alot of play "in and out" none side to die or up and down how much should there be? or do i need to move the new spacer farther in on the axle?

In 1988 short box automatic 2 wd comanches is the rear end a posi-trac or a trac lock?

i figured they would be, can u put the front bumper on though? like off a 99?

hi i am thinking about putting a rear bumper of a Cherokee on my comanche cuz the old brackets rotted off and the old bumper is no good. will the bumper off a cherokee work? or r thr brackets different?
