  1. Hey I'm wondering what you guys use for rear tow points on your trucks? my bumper has a hole for a ball but i was wondering is it strong enough to use as a recovery point? thanks for the help !
  2. Finally got my 3" lift and 31's on
  3. Hey I've had my 88 Comanche for 3 years now it was a 4.0 2wd swb. I loaned it to my sister last fall so she could drive it untill she had enough money for a car. Unfortunately she had a habit of forgetting to check the oil and my truck had a slow oil leak which led to the crank bearings getting cooked. The truck had almost 400km on it anyways so I don't really blame her lol. It gave me an excuse to swap it to 4wd since I would be pulling the motor out anyways. Here it is I wish I had more pics but that was last fall after we did the box sides and with fresh paint. Just single stage international harvester red from car quest Here is the donor a 91 4.0 ho 4wd with only 136km on it. Swapping the axles and getting the motor in was actually the easy part. Wiring was a different story lol. I didn't realize that nothing was really the same between the two harnesses. So I swapped the complete harness to make it easier along with the rear axle to keep the gearing the same. The donor axle is a Dana 30 hp. The spring buckets where rotted out so we fabbed up new ones Next was the interior my dash was all tore up and I wanted to use the donor gauges since I just had dummy lights in mine. I also swapped my bench for buckets and the full console and console shift along with the steering wheel. I changed my heater core while I was in there it was well worth it. Truck blows amazing heat almost to much for the little cab lol. Now that it's rolling again it's time for the motor and drive train. First test drive made it to macdonalds worked a-1 Here it is today I also put a 2" spacer up front to level it out but I have a 3" lift I'm putting in it in the spring and planning to run 31's It was a bigger job than I planned but I learned a lot this summer about the truck and where everything is and how it all works so I am happy with it and amazed I was able to do it !
  4. I agree. Do the front coils then the AAL. See how the truck sits. If you want a boost in the rear, new shackles are easy to install after all is said and done. thanks for the help guys !
  5. The axle does not sit centered under the leaf spring, so the net lift is less than half the extra length of the shackles. 2" Chevy drop shackles will lift a Comanche about 1.75". They also mess up your driveshaft u joint angles possibly causing vibration. I'm only looking to gain 1' of lift roughly from the shackles since I'm putting in the add a leafs so would 1" shackles put it out that much that it will cause the angles to be messed up ? but if incomando is right which he is about them sitting higher in the back anyways than chances are it will be even with 2" rear and 3" front so i guess i might not need the shackle after all.

  7. your right about eliminating the rake, when i swapped it to 4wd i noticed the coil sping where booth missing a peice at the bottom so i bought 2 good xj factory coils and put a 2" spacer in but it didnt raise it above factory really any idea why ? are xj springs weaker ? they did look thinner than my mj ones. i bought 3" xj lift springs so I'm hoping they are gonna be a noticible difference. they are deffinatly alot beefier than whats in it now lol
  8. Those are Chevy drop shackles. You can usually find them on the shelf at your local parts store. how much drop would so a 2'' chev drop shackles gives a comanche 2'' lift ?
  9. I'm slowly peicing together a lift lol, i got 3" coils the other day and 2" add a leafs now I'm looking for a 1" lift shackle to keep it level. any sugestions ? i read some wheres on here about using chevy lowering shackles just not sure which ones. once i get this then its just an adjustable trac bar and warm weather haha can't wait, any help will be much appriciated ! thanks guys.
  10. When you say it gave you 1/2 " axle shift to correct it if i used my stock tack bar i woul simply move the hole in 1/2 an inch ? Why would you weaken the track bar mount by drilling a 1/2" hole right next to a 1/2" hole? true, whats a decent brand adjustable trac bar thats a resonable price?

  12. when you say drill a hole you mean in the axle end of the track bar mounting point ?
  13. Hi, i recently swapped my 2wd 88 swb to 4wd in the process it needed shocks so i put 0-3" lift skyjackers on it. now i want a lift and have been kicking myself ever since for not doing it in the first place i wanna run a 3" and 31's i bought add a leafs for the rear locally for 40$ now I'm looking at getting re 3" coils for the front. My main question is do i need extended lca's and will i need to drop the t case with a 3" lift.
  14. I'm not sure on the i 4 but i just swapped my blown renix 4.0 for the ho 4.0 (got a good deal on 4WD donor) and it wasnt that bad but i had to swap just about every harness from one truck to the other. as well as what ever they plugged into lol.
  15. hey, i have a 1986 jeep comanche lwb 4x4 when i got it had 31's i am now running 235-75-15 on it. the tires started to wear on theinside not long after i put them on. I checked the ball joints and they where bad. So i changed all 4. Once i was done it still looked as tho the camber was off. i put on another set of tires as the old ones where wore to much. Ive had the new balljoints in for a couple of months now and the tires are starting to wear on the inside again. Is there any way to adjust the camber ? also my front vaccum disconect stopped working so i have the fork fixed so the transfercase take it in and out of 4x4. There for I'm always pushing my front axle could that cause tires to wear funny?
  16. Hi, my mj has the gauges without the rpms. It's just got a fuel gauge. My dad has the nicer ones in his eliminator. I would like to put the same ones in mine. I just wanted to know is it plug and play or do i have to run new wires and sensors ? thanks.
  17. Hi we have been having some issues with our track bar. The nut on the top keeps coming loose so it makes a bad crunching sound when turning the wheels at low speeds. This happens about every 2 weeks or so. I'm just wondering has anyone had the same issue ?
  18. We did our's in chrome and they turned out just fine. Ill post a pic tomorow.
  19. Hi, i found a front clip off of a 1999 jeep cherokee. It comes with the header panel, lights and turn signals and the bumper. Some one already claimed the grille  . The junkyard wants 150 for it all and it's in imaculate shape. I'm just wondering will i have to buy a hood aswell ?
  20. Have you checked out Jeep city for a bed? I was on his add on kijiji and he apears to have a few comanches. He just lives in st. george so he's not too far away from ya. There was a box on there a while ago it was in perfect shape for 200 $ but i think it sold..
  21. yeah, The pins came with 4 in each pack 2 pairs in different diameters.
  22. Well ive let my door go long enough, Every time i shut it i have to lift up on it or it won't close. I called around and the pins were hard to find. The dealer didnt have a listing along with several other stores. The last store i tried didnt have a listing either but the guy at the desk told me chev pins would work, he said just cut them to length. So i got them but now I'm wondering how i go about changing them?
