Hello to all, I own an 88' 4.0 2x4 rwd comanche and i am a huge fan. However as of late my comanche quit on me while I was on a fairly long drive and not sure what it is exactly. My speculations are electrical. I reviewed the wire diagram and found a crisped green wire leading to my radiator fan relay. I tried re-splicing but wire keeps frying. I've posted the diagram along with the specific wire I'm talking about. I should also note that the Orange wire connected to the same link did not fry. My question is where do I find the Radiator Relay and could it be possible that my fan $#!)/ the bed and is possibly drawing too much power?

I'm fairly new to jeep ownership however recently I've fell into an issue with the battery which is less than a yea old dying out on me overnight. So I charged my battery back to full, grabbed my multimeter and began searching for a parasitic draw on the battery. After I turn off the truck I use the black which is hooked up to com to the negative battery terminal and the red on the negative cable. My current DC reading is around 12.4-12.5 while the truck is off. It seems as though I have everything connected the way I was told but 12 amps seems really high. Anyway I've found that there is a little device towards the front that is setting it off. Can anyone identify this box? its not affiliated with the main battery line but there are a lot of wires coming out of it.

Fuel Pump Or Maybe Cps?
MmMBurritos replied to MmMBurritos's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
the CPS seems new, however the harness is looking ragged and I'm also concerned over the fuel pump harness. Any idea where I could find either? I've checked Rock auto and Jeep 4x4 but havent seem much. -
Last night while I was driving for over 20 minutes or so out and of nowhere I immediately the motor shuts off. After a couple cold starts it began running and seemed to drive fine. Later when I went to start it, again it would not start (cranks but does not start) until after a couple cold cranks. This morning it started right up just fine and I can hear the fuel pump running. My guess is electrical either with the CPS or the Pump. Checked grounds and tested CPS properly (I think) and everything seems to check out. I'm also curious if the cold/dry at night as opposed to much warmer daytime temperature might have any effect. Where is the fuel pump exactly on a 1988? For the life of me I cannot seem to find it. Is it in the fuel tank? I confused the starter for the fuel pump and I'm a little embarrassed asking this since google isn't helping. Will continue to source the issue but any advice would help

Lol I know absolutely nothing at all about jeeps which was why I posted it in first place. Without ideas on what it could be I would be sitting there for hours probably just attempting to trace the leak and scratching my head. I didn't know much about jeeps and tbh I'm still scratching the surface but thats what question's are for. Don't succumb to paying someone else to fix your problems, its never worth it in the long run. Lots of knowledge to be had here, we should all reflect on where most of us would be back before forums existed... the library

Steering Box Power Or Manual?
MmMBurritos replied to MmMBurritos's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I would like to remove it, make some adjustments and flush the fluids for sure before I whip out the wallet. Only reason why I am almost certain it needs adjustment is mainly due to no movement from my wheels and I'm literally turning the steering a good 90˚. Thats good advice and I think I'll clean it up and give it a QC I figure I can work on my biceps while i'm parallel parking. :driving: Thanks for the help! -
Not sure if this is what you're looking for but they have $20 front doors seals at jeep 4x4 > http://www.jeep4x4center.com/jeep-doors/replacement-door-parts/cherokee-xj-front.htm

My steering is way off and one of the first things I figure i'll need to inspect will be the steering box. However I've never removed one before but have been looking at a few topics regarding. Anyway my question is can you interchange between a power steering box and a manual? Does the manual still utilize the pressure hoses? Should I be concerned about compatibility as far as mounting where the power steering box is now? This is the replacement I found > http://www.jeep4x4center.com/steering-gear-assembly-with-manual-steering-52000089.html . I suppose I just need reassurance through all of this. Cheers!

Getting some new boots and want to upgrade the spare. Measured underneath and i don't think it will fit in the original space under the bed. Anyone care to share their how-to? Also I havent touch the spare since acquiring and its mounted funky looks like with gauge wire.

Hello, I've taken some time before introducing myself. Picked up my Jeep about a month ago and have since been restoring and creating a stable and reliable daily driver. It is indeed a 4.0 with an AW4 and Dana 35 rear. I know I have a lot ahead and will be preparing for an AX15 and 4x4 conversion when my budget allows. This was purchased through an auction and have not been certain on certain things currently installed (specific ride height). However, after inspecting the vacuum system, replacing hoses, new front brakes, cleaning the throttle and flushing most of the fluids it has successfully passed the 1,000 mile mark under new ownership (odo 258,400). I'm planning to acquire Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO's within two weeks as well as rear shocks. Not sure what i'll get for the rear yet. Anyway, great to be here and hope to contribute as best I can. Cheers! -B Cooper

Charcoal Canister Question
MmMBurritos replied to MmMBurritos's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Apologies, I should've have been more clear. The hose is disconnected and I'm wondering if i should hook it up to the purge or not. I probably shouldn't care either way because recently I painfully passed through smog and plan to re-register far far away from any sort of smog test. -
I've been looking over hoses and first step maintenance and notice the purge line on the charcoal canister is not connected. Coincidentally there is a hose that I followed and leads to the top of the fuel tank. Could this be the culprit?

Easy way would be through yousendit. Its free and i will offer to host thru my dropbox afterwards for those that may need them. I'm tired of google and going back and forth to the library. https://www.yousendit.com/supersend
