  1. Currently waiting for new CPS and new starter to arrive. It was a bear getting the old CPS out. Not sure how I'm going to get the new one in (very tight squeeze between the bell housing and the floor board). Hopefully this will solve the problems. If not...I will surely follow-up on all other suggestions. Thanks
  2. Gas mileage is around 13.5 to 14.5 mpg. Injectors have been cleaned about a year ago, but I will also check them out as well. Thanks.
  3. The truck was starting and running fine until about a week ago. I went to Lowes, parked, came out and it would crank but would not start (not even a burp). Did the under hood check for loose wires, vacuum hoses, odd smells, etc. Nothing looked, or smelled out of order. After about 5 minutes, it started like nothing was wrong and ran all the way home with no issues. Since then I have driven it several times, and it has refused to start several more times, but always starts eventually. I wore out the battery trying to restart it when it refuses...and replaced the battery yesterday. It started right up. Shut it off. Would not restart. Cranked fine but again, not even a burp. Started fine a while ago. I've done most of Cruiser 54's Renix tips, and all seemed good until now. If the fuel pump is going out, would the engine run so well when it does start? Any and all advice appreciated, Thanks in advance.
  4. Okay, since I started this tread I can now say that I finally got around to installing the Putco H4 / 9003 Heavy Duty Headlight Upgrade Wiring Harness with my Sylvania H6054XV replacement headlights. The increased brightness is very good and a great improvement over the stock set-up. It was essentially a plug-n-play install with the only difficult part being finding a good place for the two ground wires using the length of wire provided. The suggestions and tips given here on this topic were nothing but awesome. Thanks to all for sharing.
  5. Thanks for all your tips.
  6. Putco H4 / 9003 Heavy Duty Headlight Upgrade Wiring Harness Just to make sure...this is the exact wiring harness replacement/upgrade that will fit my '87 MJ 4.0L? Yes? Amazon has it for $26.00 plus shipping.
  7. Thanks for all of the good tips and suggestions. Also, are the basic halogen sealed beam headlights any good such as the Sylvania H6054XV? Will these need new wiring harnesses, etc. ? Just looking at all of my options. Larry
  8. I want to replace the original stock (read dull) headlights on my 1987 Comanche (and my '95 YJ also). I absolutely do not want anything that gives off a "blue" hue. White and bright is what I am looking for. The brighter the better. Tired of driving at night with the equivalent of 2 kerosene lanterns for lights. Also, will my original wiring be able to handle the new lights without any additions or modifications? Thanks in advance, Larry
  9. My '87 MJ has the factory slider glass and it is still intact. You might try finding an auto glass shop in your area...or go here: http://www.windshields.com/default.aspx Put in your Comanche info and zip code for auto glass dealers in your area. Larry
  10. All of the above...plus add new ignition wires and clean the throttle body with carb cleaner. Good luck, Larry
  11. The side cab vents might work okay, but I wonder about rain and splash getting on top of the engine. Is there another way to vent the engine compartment (gets way too hot under there) yet divert the moisture away from the motor? Thanks, Larry
