    Mine was doing that when I had the tubes from the air filter to the valve cover off..that's just because I have valve blow by! Look for any holes in your fire wall and headers...good luck!

    I haven't done it in my Comanche but I did on my Cherokee..you probably have the Ford 8.8 in the explorer. It's a good cheepish swap
