  1. The blower motor on our 87 made loud noises and then stopped. No fan at all. We just replaced the fan and still nothing. Check the fuse by the drivers side and fuse it fine. Replaced it asnyway and still no power to the fan motor. Nothing seems to happen at the heater controls. This is a none AC truck so I don't think I have 4 speeds fan. Would the resistor stop the fan from turning? No power? Am I missing a fuse?? I put power from the battery directly to the old fan and it made a load noise so I know it is junk. What do you think the problem is?
  2. The 30th AMC drag races are September 11-13 in Cordova Il by the Mississippi. The big day to be there is Saturday. Sunday is rain date. Should be a good time. They run AMC v8s and 6 cyl. Several Jeep run ans show on the field and parts for sale. If you want AMC engine or engine parts this is a good event. Yes, it is a AMC event and they do not allow Jeeps with Chevy motors to run. AMC powered only. Sorry. Hope to see you there. We are bring our Comanche. woody
  3. Awesome guys!! Thanks. Looks like I have some work to do. I'll see what the dealer says. I think all I need now is the pins. woody
  4. The weld seems ok. It looks like the pin is worn out. How do you replace pin or door?? woody
  5. I have the mirrors (big ones) on my 86 and the door hinges are junk. I guess because of the weight. I was looking at a spare door I have from a 89 and it looks like it will fit fine. How do I fix the hinges? Can I replace pins?? Will I need a different door striker? Thoughts? Ideas? Thanks, woody62
  6. Pat, Are you saving the blue interior? I may have a need for it. Mine is pretty faded in my 86. woody
  7. Well we made the trip. The storms hit us about 10 am pretty bad rain but nothing more. The rest of the day.. starting at about noon was great. Sorry you all didn't make it. TONs of food, trophies, mud for the rest of us. By the way, Mike had a Comanche display of signage. If weather is better next year I'll try to get him to get it out on display in the yard. Campers are welcome too. Hope to see you all there next year. It is always at this time of year. Usually the first full weekend in June. woody
  8. It is like myspace but allows you to do alot more custom look and you can sell ads on it as the site grows. I like the fact that you can design it. I built the thing in about 30 minutes. Fun. Give it a try. We would like it if people would join in on our site. We will keep updates going. Hope to have photos of this weekend at Jefferson WI show. woody.
  9. Just wanted to post that we made a website for our Jeep collection of projects. It is pretty cool site and it was all free from www.ning.com You are welcome to join in. Our site is www.jeepcomanche.ning.com We just picked up the blue X from Missouri last weekend. It is a 2.8 that has a spun bearing but still runs. 5 spd trans. If you know of a 34 chevy or GM motor for sale, please let me know. I'm looking to convert. Thanks, woody
  10. It is just north of the fair grounds... can't miss it, look for all the AMCs and Jeeps. First year for invite of Comanches so hope you can attend. Starts at 8 am. They want to wrap up registration by 11 or noon. Cost is $5 as I remember. You do not have to pre register so just bring your truck and parts if you want to sell anything. They welcome vendors. Just do a Google Map for the Jefferson WI fair grounds. woody :D

  13. i got in a car accident in my Comanche. the lady put the rear bumper underneath my truck. so now I'm looking for a new one with end caps. if anyone one has one please let me know Woody
  14. They guy said he found the little truck near Madison WI I think. Not a cheese head but a collector of crap just the same. Maybe it is a "Northern" thing or farmer thing to collect scrap. In any case I've been told scrap prices are high. The junkyard near me just got cleaned out last week. woody
  15. Just thought I would post this. I was sitting in my house the other day, eating lunch, looked out the picture window in front and saw this guy with a old chevy truck that had 4X8 sheets of plywood (standing up) around the box. He had it full of junk. We see him drive by all the time. Collects scrape. Anyway, this time when he pulled up he had a trailer too! And it had a 87 Comanche on it (Sportruck) just like ours but black. It was a rusty pile. I ran out the door, with wife say "we don't need anymore crap!" I asked the guy what he wanted for parts he said he didn't know. It was all just scrape for him. We made a deal ($30) for all I could get off of it. We got a good set of Jeep rims, grill, lights, power steering, a ton of stuff. Just funny how you find this stuff. Never thought it would come to my door. woody
  16. Pat, Kevin and I are interested in the tilt column. Any antenna available? By the way.. we found a deal on a 87 for $30. We took what we could get for that price. wish I could have saved the whole truck. We just don't have the space for it. Thanks, Woody let me know.
  17. Wade, I heard you contacted Mike. Cool! Hope to see you there. I think we can find a few more Jeeps to attend. Mike is offering a challenge to Comanche owners that attend... He has a like creek bed that runs to the Fox River. His son-in-law has been trying to climb it with his Toyota truck and has been stuck twice. Mike has had to get out his tractor to pull him out. Anyone willing to try? Come to the show. I got a confirmation on cost... $5. Well worth it. Hope to see you all there, at least those of you in Wisconsin and Northern IL. areas. Woody
  18. Comanche fans.... Just wanted to send you all an invite to this show in Wisconsin. Mike Spangler has a ton things to see at his house. The show is a great event with many AMC cars. The cost is like $5-7? and covers food as I recall. Best to contact Mike at below to find out more. Well worth the trip to see his stuff. 19. I'm looking at a 86 with the 2.8 & 4X4 with minor rust. It is an X model. It doesn't run. Question: What is it worth? Any ideas? Is it rare? woody :USAflag:
  20. it runs really good with the fourwheel drive i can't tell a difference when i have the it in or out
  21. i don't think it is the alternator becuase the alternator on mine looks fairly new. it sounds more like by the fan and the water pump
  22. i have a high pitched whining sound thats seems like its comming from the fan clutch. has any one had this problem? it comes and goes and its only and high rpms any help will be appreciated
  23. Okay guys. Here is the update. They finally got it fixed. It was the FUEL PUMP. I didn't have enough pressure. They said I had about 10lb? of pressure. Put the new pump in and it runs great!! I think the 2.5 4 banger has got a good deal of power. I'm keeping all the notes you sent me on the electric system. I'm sure I need it. I'm looking for a different rear end. I think the gears could be messed up. Any suggestions as replacement? This is more of a road truck so I'm looking for a road gear. 3.?? What Cherokee can I get rear from that will fit? woody
  24. I haven't gotten a report from the repair shop. Almost a week now. Thanks to you all. This is OUTSTANDING information. I think you are probably right on. I had trouble getting it started at all when we got it. I put new battery cables on, new battery and added another ground cable. Started fine but ran like crap. By the way... remember this is a CA truck. So from what I have read this is an issue too. See Wikipedia info. RENIX. It must be the computer. I saw cost from $35 used to $300 new. What should I be paying if I need the computer? Are they had to get new? I'm afraid to see the repair bill at this point from Lou's Jeep. I'm going to tell them about the article on the RENIX system. Thanks again to all. I'll keep you posted. woody
  25. Eagle, You sounds like you have a good handle on this. They told me they replaced the O2 sensor too. But if you start the truck it runs fine and really well for a few miles. It really gets bad and looses power as it gets warm. Some thing else, if you stop, turn it off and let sit for a couple minutes and start again it seems to run fine for a couple minutes and then back to running like crap. So what sensor have I forgotten? woody
