  5. I swapped around injectors. Still no fuel on the same cylinder. So I'm guessing its not getting a signal. I tried swapping the injector plugs also but no change. Any advice on what to do from here?
  6. Do you know of any way to test for either of those?
  7. I have an 88 Comanche with the 4.0 and its not firing on one cylinder. At first I thought it wasn't getting spark so I did new plugs wires and dist. cap but now it is getting spark but still no firing. When I pull the plug it smells faintly of gas but shouldn't it be wet if it was getting fuel. I'm thinking injector? What else could it be?
  8. It does have power steering I didnt figure it would be much different either. All the junkyards I called said it made a difference though. Does anyone have one they wanna sell? I just want it back on the road. The Pittsburgh bus system sucks.
  9. I need the shaft in between the steering box and steering column. Mine is an 88 5 speed 2 wheel drive If anyone has one please email me at cromanyak3@yahoo.com Apparently most junkyards have crushed vehicles this old.
  10. How do you tell if the U-Joints in the driveshaft are bad. Mine is only two wheel drive. I didn't get a chance to check anything out today. It rained. Hopefully tomorrow.
  11. Recently I noticed a vibration when I go over 45. Its gotten worse and worse to the point that it feels like your driving over rumble strips. It only does it when I'm on the gas though. When I let off it goes away, unless I'm coasting in neutral. It has to be in gear and not giving it any gas at all for it to go away. I shook down the front end. It seems ok. It also shudders in 2nd and 3rd gear at around 2000 rpm's? Any ideas what it could be?
  12. I'd say something in it definitly collapsed. I noticed that my steering felt stiffer and I looked and the steering wheel is rubbing on the column. When you pull out on the wheel it feels free again. It doesn't bind up or make any weird noises though. The only crash I've been in was when I backed into an eclipse at the gas station about a month ago. I have to tear it apart today to see what's up with my ignition. Hopefully I'll be able to see what the problem is.
  13. Its not the nut I checked that
  14. I have a non tilt steering column and the steering wheel moves in and out about an 1/8th of an inch. It rubs on the column now. Also my ignition is starting to bind up. Anyone know what might cause this? I had someone move the wheel in and out while I looked under the hood and didn't notice and movement from the steering shafts that go into the steering box. Chris
  15. I didn't even use my stud plates when I put my flares back on. I just bought some bolts and large washers. Worked just fine.
  16. I have a 88 Comanche 2wd with a 4.0 and i'm thinking of buying an 88 Cherokee to do the 4wd swap. Everything is the same except its an automatic. Is there alot more involved in doing that swap. Can anyone tell me a brief list of what i'd need to swap over? thanks, Chris
  17. All together my paint job cost me about $400. I got the urethane kit from this place http://www.smartshoppersinc.com/ Its not best paint in the world but for the price I'm happy with it. I also bought my gun from them. Its a FinishLine III. Its a good beginners gun and best of all its rebuildable. Those cheap guns you can get for 50 bucks or so aren't. That gun with a regulator and 3 different size tips was about $125.
  18. That's was it. I swapped those relays around and wah-lah! It fired right up. Thanks for the help. Mine is missing the cover does anyone know which relay is for the fuel pump? Cause now I have a bad one in another spot so i'd still like to replace it.
  19. I tested the TPS. It seems to check out. I followed the instructions on that site only it read about 4 or 4.5 volts instead of 5 but I have a cheap volt meter. I'm thinking its a fuel issue. I pulled a plug and it doesn't smell of gas at all really. Plus when I start it and hold the gas to the floor it revs up to about 2500 rpms instead of 1500. But it still dies right away. I already tried a jumper wire on the ballast resistor.
  20. There's really nothing to it if you have a mig welder. I think it cost me about 50 in materials, and took about a day and half. If you actually had equipment for bending metal it'd be even faster. You just gotta take your time working the metal. Mine is actually not at nice as it appears, but i'm happy with it. Plus white hides alot of the imperfections.
  21. Sorry its a Renix. That's helps a ton. I appreciate it. Chris
  22. I'll take some better pics and post them. If you have a break you could make one no problem. I actually used the rounded part of the top of the tailgate to form it, and the edge of my work bench to make the sharper bends. Then i took some 1/8 inch plate about 1 inch wide and welded it to the bottom lip to make it more rigid. I used the same plate to make the sides. Its pretty sturdy.
  23. Is there a way to test that?
  24. I jumped the ballast resistor. Didn't seem to have any effect at all. For as long as I've had it every once in a while the rpms would go up to 2 or 3K and just stay there at idle. Usually I'd shut it off and start it back up and it would be fine. That's the same thing it did this morning when I popped the clutch and floored it. It stayed running when I did that but it was idleing really high. But after I shut it off, it went back to just starting then dying.
  25. I forgot to mention. Its the straight six 4.0
