  1. I cleaned the c101 (what a mess...it was still tar-like ) cleaned the throttle body, seafoamed the engine, and put new plugs in. BIG power difference. But once it's warmed up it still idles like it wants to stall
  2. So what do you use? Contact.cleaner?
  3. asking for adequate power from a 2.5 is like trying to get blood from a stone i suppose... why rotella? my truck only has 112,000 on it and it doesnt smoke or tick. i love lucas. i already seafoamed it...well... in the tank anyhow. where is this dreaded "c101"?
  4. i was thinking that this might smoothout the idle a little. are there any upgrades that can be done at this time?
  5. well i am waiting to get the new one... my buddy is going to pick it up tomorrow. ill try to get picks of the alternator. 1989,....its 2wd so it will not really get in a situation that requires a winch....lights however...is a different story.
  6. well i thought i had a rough idle.... but i used propane to check for vac leaks and found none. so i was on the way to my moms yesterday (50 miles away) and when i got to the traffic portion of the drive i noticed that when i had the HVAC (or HV in my case) that the truck would really start to idle rough i noticed that i still had my headlights on from going through a tunnel. a quick check of the gauge showed that it was charging too high... and i was hearing a moan when i was going down the road in the truck....(later that same moan was heard at idle too.) so i figured after my buddy and I got back from our weekly bicycle ride, i would go to autozone and have the charging system checked. so today ...we went on our bike ride and the truck ran fine....till we pulled into his driveway... the most horrible clatter started comming from under the hood ...we popped the hood only to witness the alternator disintegrating in front of us....like it was litteraly spitting pieces of copper out of the vents and chunks of bering! ....so hopefully i will have a new one from napa tomorrow, if not autozone on tuesday!
  7. I much like GirsMJ86 have been MJ'less for the last 5 years. in that time my wife and I moved into our own house and i had sold my MJ and bought a buick Roadmaster wagon. I joined up with the GM Long roof community and the station wagon forums. those guys are a very tight knit group and make you feel like family. i got bored with my wagon and have always missed my MJ so i found one that almost fits what i wanted (really wanted a 6 cyl...i got a 4) and thusly....i have returned....and I'm not letting this one go (unless its for a 4.0 longbed) . i can't believe jeepcomj is sick of MJ's..... :???:

  9. my wife had hers out a year ago...she eats everything she did before. and trust me she ain't a healthy eater.
  10. i drove a prius from Pittsburgh to Ft Lauterdale...it was a miserable. the mpg was nice but that car sucked bad

  12. well...if i know redline rpm = speed in every gear...i can figure it out on the fly lets say hypothetically 3500rpm = redline so what I'm looking for is ( 3500rpm = 25mph in 1st, 3500 rpm = 35 mph in 2nd .....etc etc.)

  14. The wife.and I were on the way to.walmart the other day. Out of the blue she says..."I wouldnt mind having a silver jeep patriot" I said "how about a real jeep like a cherokee or a grand cherokee diesel if I could find one" She said "no...those are ugly" maybe I shouldnt have gotten married
  15. my cluster has those. the only blank gauge is where the fuel gauge is on the model with a tach.

  17. just the part that comes up through the seat. i would prefer tan but it this point i would just like to have one.
  18. i want to be able to wind out for acceleration and highway driving. with no tach... does anyone know what rpm the 2.5 5 spd 2wd runs out to in each gear? i.e ...whats the max speed in each gear?. also...does the 2.5 idle rougher than the 4.0? it seems like mine idles a little rough.
  19. and as an added bonus...i just got off the phone with the seller....he bought it new in 87 and it has been maintained by the same garage since new!
  20. well, i pulled the trigger on the 4cyl long bed pioneer. its 2wd (fine with me I'm not much of an off roader). its 99% rust free. and only 111k on it! for $2000 i do the paperwork tomorrow. the only rust spot on the body
  21. I got one....4 cyl long bed 5speed. 2 out 3 aint too bad.
  22. ANY hole in the body. if the inspection station wants to be a jerk... they will fail you for holes above the rear wheels.
  23. well, i went over to ohio to look at an 88 swb with a 4.0 ba/10. 245,000mi rust free southern truck. got there....clean underside 1 or 2 surface spots up top. ran like crap till it warmed up... when it warmed up it still hesitated a little tiny bit....but otherwise ran like a scared antilope. i noticed that the winshield surround was missing ....and i crawled back underneath... there it was ...a rust hole the size of a quarter in an otherwise prestine floor pan! not going to pass inspection here in Pa. not to mention...I HATE RUST! ...so it looks like I'm gonna opt for the 87 4cyl that i also looked at. 2wd lwb spotlessly rust free and inspected needs no repairs...111k mi for 2500obo.
  24. I just missed my dream MJ (almost...95%) a local used dealer had a southern comanche on the lot for $2300. it was a 92 longbed metric ton 4.0 auto..with a tick over 100k (my dream is a 91-92 metric ton 4x4 5 speed). straight and clean. i called....they sold it earlier this week. DAMNIT!
