I am not even sure if it is a transmission problem or not.

I was coming home from a camping trip yesterday and while heading out, down a gravel road, I hit a pothole doing about 30mph.

This immediatley made some noise under the hood. I stopped and discovered the guard over the fan came loose and was getting knicked by the fan. I removed the guard and inspected the fan and it appeared to still be running properly and wasn't off balance or wobbling.

I started down the road again and when I attempted to go into 3rd it was VERY difficult to get in there. Once I got off the gravel and onto paved road I discoverd that I could get into 4th with no problems but I absolutely could not go into 5th.

I pulled over and stopped. Here I held in the clutch and procedded to go through the gears.

1st - Goes into gear fine, but now I notice that it seems to be "OFF" it feels more like where 3rd should be. Hmmm

2nd - Same as first. Goes in fine but seems to be shifted to the right a little.

3rd - Struggle to get it to go up into gear and I am holding it there.

4th - Goes in fine.

5th - AINT HAPPENING. Gave it all I could to get it Over and Up and it isnt going.

Reverse - Again.. It is not going to happen.

**A little more about 1st being "OFF"

Before if I was in Neutral and let go off shifter it would rest almost staright up. I pulled to left and went up into 1st.

NOW. shifter seems to be leaning a bit to the right and when I pull left to go to first, when the shifter get to the "Straight up and down" position that is as far as it goes. It feels liek it is hitting a wall. From here I can push up and go into 1st gear with no issue. No noise or struggle to out it in gear.

I have no idea what has happened. PLEASE HELP!!

I'm going to concur with parts MJ, and the strain on the trans or mis allignment of the shifter is causing your problems. Check all engine and trans mounts.
