Replaced the brake light switch on my '87, plastic bushings for the pushrod went bad and had to come up with a workaround, got it all back together and the lights work properly, but now I have a drain on my battery that takes it down to nothing, not sure if it's due to the new switch, or if the wires are reversed, I can't find a good source of which way the wires are supposed to plug into the switch, I have a pinkish-red wire and a light blue with a black stripe, going into a brown plastic connector that can plug in both ways. When I got the truck, it had the 4-pin switch which I've learned is meant for cruise control, mine doesn't have it so I replaced it with a 2 pin one.

It should not matter which way you plug it in. It's just a momentary switch opening or closing the circuit of those two wires.  Are your brake lights off when the truck is off?

I've realized that the issue is that I am an idiot who left 500 watts of floodlights on. My lightbar folds back so they were pointed upwards, and I was only working on it when it was bright outside so I didn't notice it, I must have accidentally bumped my switch while I was working under the dash. I have noticed though that the wires connected to the switch are getting hot very quickly, unsure what would cause that to happen.
