What axle are you looking for the splins count on?

35 is 27 SPL in fact form.

44 is 30 SPL in fact form

8.8 is 29/31 spl in fact form

8.25 is 27/29 in fact form

GM 10 bolt 8.5'' came out of a blazer but GM used two or three different spline counts

OK,

I'm in uncharted waters for me.. (NOT a cheby guy)

BUT looks like there WHERE in fact a number of different spline counts. BUT these where for diff applications. 2WD go diff than 4WD and then there where diff packages, like heavy half tons and normal half tons. Then even more changes based on year of manufacture. Also seems Cheby had a bit lighter duty stuff than the GMC line did.... Any one wonder or now see why I am not a GM guy!!!

Best idea is to pop the cover or pull an axle. That way you will be sure.

Just a thought, what about the stealer ship and you vin number? Couldn't they tell ya something?

Sorry I not more definitive on this one, but its not my thing...

ahh yes the passenger car 10 bolt. that is the 7.5'' ring gear, no thats up front on the 1/2 tons. the rear is the stronger of the two 10 bolts. pulling an axle.... lets see now, I'm a quick worker how long would it take to do this? (yes i have air tools)...(including a 7'' angle grinder if the spline count isnt what i want it to be :brows: )
