Oil Pan removal 2.8L MJ

Recommended Posts

should be pretty straight forward, yes?  my first thought was to suggest looking for S-10 videos on youtube, but they would be IFS and probably super complicated compared to our trucks.  jack up truck, let suspension droop (remove tires if needed to let the axle drop further), then go to town on the bolts.  the oil pan was one of the things I didn't have to do on my old 86, but I've done a few 4.0Ls and cleaning off the ancient gasket material is the hardest part.  I used a combination of razor scraper and painter's 5-way scraper.  if a rubber oil pan gasket exists, definitely get that rather than another cork gasket.
