gvthnks
87 Longbed, 4.0 - manual. Been putting off tearing into it to fix loose tilt column but this week my hand was forced due to an ignition lock cylinder that just quit working. So since I'm taking it apart to replace lock cylinder, might as well tackle the loose tilt mechanism. I expected to find the four e-torx bolts loose and that was it but no luck. While they were slightly loose, I think most of my play in the column is coming from the ball bearing close to the pivot point of the steering shaft. There are two caged ball bearings in the top part of the column. One at the upper part of the steering shaft just below were the lock ring resides and then another a couple inches down the shaft. The lower one is the one that's fallen apart in my case. Haven't gotten the inner race off yet, but would anyone know a part number for this bearing?
