88Munchie
So I just got an 88 Comanche pioneer 4.0L 2wd with the pugeot 5spd. At low speeds >40 Speedo clicks and bumps but still reads accurate speed At higher speeds she perfectly accurate. Today I had zero readout on the speedo but my tripometer was still accurately spooling up. Then I hit a bump and bam she jumped to 55. Anyone with any clue on this? She's got 133k miles on her and I'm the third owner. I'll look at the coupling on the tranny and see if maybe she's just wiggling loose
87MJTIM
First thing to look at is the speedo cable. Get under the truck and examine the connection at the transmission tail housing. Is it loose? Tighten it. Unscrew it an examine the cable tip. Is it frayed? Probably need to replace. If that end is OK, then trace the cable back to the firewall. Any cracks or bends? If those check out, then you have to check the cluster end. This will require removing the gauge cluster.
