WranglerMangler
1991 MJ 4.0 with Dummy gauges. Recently swapped in a 6 gauge cluster from a ‘96 XJ. Now I have a “GEN” light. Know it’s alternator related. Gauge shows good voltage. What is my truck missing that this cluster is looking for? Or how can I make the cluster think it’s getting this signal so the light goes out? Or just unplug a bulb? Thought and comments appreciated!
boxyjeep
Is the pinout the same between 91 to 96? That's the location of the "Part Time" bulb on older clusters. I'd want to check to see what is feeding that light before jumping to an issue with alternator.
WranglerMangler
It must not be pinned the same, it’s a 2wd truck, so the cluster isn’t receiving a Part Time signal from the truck. Definitely not jumping to alternator problems.
