Don't know what my front & rear end ratio's are

I have a 86 AMC Jeep Comanche XLS 2.8L, 5spd, 4x4

 

I'm certian this rear end is a dana 35 (would like to rebuild it) but am not sure of the gear ratio back there 3.55?

 

Is the 27 spline axle stock - is that whats in there?

 

Is the front a dana 30 on this truck? Is the front ratio the same?

 

ANy good sites for stock diff parts?

 

Just want to restore it to OEM specs. Thanks

The rear differential is most likely a Dana 35 and it would either have 3.54 gears or 4.10 gears with that engine and transmission combination. The Front differential is a Dana 30 and it would have to have the same gears since it's 4x4 or the drivetrain would bind up. These specs are right out of the 1986 Jeep Comanche factory workshop manual. Hope this info helps.

I would think a Dana 44 rear axle swap would be a better investment then doing anything to the Dana 35.

 

If you would ever sell it it would be worth more. Either that or swap the 44 and keep the 35 around to swap back in if you sell it. You can always sell the 44 to someone and get your money back.

 

You'll gain better rear brakes besides the having a stronger axle assembly.
