Glenn Bint Posted July 22, 2022 Share Posted July 22, 2022 Sooooo. Couple of start/stop engine in a row today. Now idle too high. 1987 2.5. No sign of vacuum leaks. Checked idle control solenoid, disassembled and inspected, seems ok but it is what is causing the idle as it’s pushing the throttle. Unplugging makes no difference. Engine running very smoothly. eaglescout526 Posted July 23, 2022 Share Posted July 23, 2022 Idle Speed Actuator. It’s what controls the idle speed. It’s on the front of the throttle body. It is motor driven and is controlled be the ECU. These usually don’t fall out of spec(unless fiddled with)but can succumb to being dirty inside but rare to produce a fault. Usually from what I have had happen to give a high idle is two things, one the AC relay has a failed and idle is high because the ECU knows that AC request is active or two, the vac hose at the base of the TB has come off the fitting.
