1987 2.5L flexplate

Recommended Posts

The flexplate on my 1987, 2.5l is out of tolerance. Did not mic but looks like ~1/2" runout (probably an exaggeration, but excessive). Checked on new ones and it shows it takes a 13.83" diameter- 164 tooth flexplate.  Mine is 12.5" diameter- 148 tooth.  Has anybody run across this before? On a related note, there is a plate that mounts with the flexplate to the crank. Is this a spacer? Should this be mounted on the crank side or on the torque converter side. I've had the motor and transmission separated for about 10 years. Trying to throw the vehicle back together for my grandson.

Thanks for the links cruiser54!  Lot of good information. The pictures are going to help eventually. Like I said, this project has been in pieces for around a decade. All nuts and bolts are bagged and tagged, but it has been a loooong time.  Thanks again.
